Liked Dawson Knox since day 1. The steamroller play against Cincinnati solidified my initial hunch about the guy. Those men had families! The high point catch against KC just cemented it. One of my 5 favorite current Bills. He is just going to keep getting better like a good wine. We got him as a bottle of Welches grape juice but will age like a Romanée-Conti (1945)

Jordan Poyer: a guess @ his new contract.
RocCityRoller replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall
At most I see Poyer extended one year. Really surprised OBD passed on a number of good prospects in what was a deep S draft. Age is catching up with the S position. The great teams tend to let a guy go a year early rather than a year late. Regardless, Poyer is here this year. At worst he is auditioning for a 1-2 yr vet deal to latch on with another contender after a solid 2022. With a $250M QB, we are going to see shuffling of personnel. OBD has to have a good succession plan in place for these situations. Maybe it is a newer reality for the team and they are starting to prepare for it in upcoming draft/ FA periods? -
Kumerow cut, re-signed, according to Profootballtalk
RocCityRoller replied to The Dean's topic in The Stadium Wall
there is a June 1st date for cap cuts that affects cuts and dead money. Maybe they were waiting for June 1st to pass, and this was the earliest the 'gentelman's agreement' was made and processed? -
my sentiments too. For some of you younger fans who didn't experience the 1990s or even earlier teams that made runs, this is your first combo of HC/GM/QB where the Bills have a legitimate chance to win any game. Savor it and enjoy it. Enjoy each team and game and having a good competitive team. Hope they get hot and can take it all the way. Some day in 2040 you will be talking about the good old days of the 2020s.

Baker Mayfield to Carolina rumors heating up...

the QB swap of Mayfield and Darnold makes a lot of sense. I'm sure Browns want more in a trade, but they put themselves in this situation -

They acquired Jacoby Brissett in the offseason. He isn't great, but that Browns team is well built. He should keep them competitive. -

That would be glorious to see the Panthers led by Mayfield beat a Browns team without Watson! 🤣 -

Jim Kelly on the all time passing list
RocCityRoller replied to Marlton Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Allen will be the best QB ever for Buffalo if he can lead a few teams to the Super Bowl. His supporting cast of players will probably change many times. That is the modern NFL. As for Kelly and time/durability let's look at age of retirement. Pro Football Reference shows the 'age' a QB payed their last season. Kelly - 36 Marino - 38 Elway - 38 Moon -44! Favre - 41 Young - 38 Montana - 38 Aikman -34 The statistical mode is 38 for a lot of era similar guys. Kelly clocked out after his age 36 season as Buffalo was clearly entering a rebuild situation. that is (-2 seasons) for Kelly. Kelly had 2 or 3 seasons in the USFL avoiding Buffalo (-2 or 3). Added up that is the difference between Kelly's 11 seasons in the NFL and most other 38 yr old retirees having 15-16 seasons. All of these guys played more than an additional 16 game season in the playoffs. Those are high intensity games with a real physical and mental toll against the best competition at the highest level. The difference with Kelly/ Thomas/ Reed/ Smith/ Biscuit/ Talley/ Odomes core is that they got that additional playoff season of games in a concentrated 4-6 year span and most had a few years of use on them dating back to 1985. 1989 was the only break where they 'only played' one playoff game. Most of the other QBS had that extra season stretched out over 15+ NFL seasons. The extra high intensity beatings those Bills took in the post season happened over 4-6 consecutive seasons. These guys just got exhausted. Look at Aikman who had a similar run. Out after his age 34 season. There is so much a body can take, and Kelly did it 3-4 years older than most. Bills Playoff Game Count By Season (Kelly era): 19 playoff games 1988-1989: 2 1989-1990: 1 1990-1991: 3 1991-1992: 3 1992-1993: 4 1993-1994: 3 1995-1996: 0 1996-1997: 2 1997-1998: 1 It's truly remarkable how those guys kept coming back extended season after extended season from 1988-1993. Few teams did that with the same core of players, and I think that shortened some careers and should be taken into consideration. To compare: Allen Era: 6 playoff games to date 2019-2020: 1 2020-2021: 3 2021-2022: 2 These Bills need to start securing home field and stop playing Wild Card rounds, or the post season beatings will accumulate too. -

It's the only way to be! A well placed joke for the over 40 crowd! Mancz is pretty much strictly C depth Boettger is off an Achilles, probably won't see the field this year

I think he has a nerve issue in his shoulder, and it may be degenerative. Nothing Kromer can do about that. from https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/12/15/rodger-saffold-says-hes-dealing-with-nerve-issue-in-shoulder/ "Tennessee Titans left guard Rodgers Saffold is dealing with an ongoing nerve issue in his injured shoulder. In an interview with 104.5 The Zone, Saffold said the injury requires ongoing management and will continue to force him to the sidelines after taking certain types of hits." That said his snaps were high, but are dropping each season 97% 94% 87% 82% Bates played very well at LG last season when he was put in. The fact Daboll and Schoen didn't go after him, but other teams did, tells me it was Daboll who kept Bates on the sideline until he ran out of other players. Saffold almost exclusively plays LG, is a very good Run Blocker, but below average pass blocker when healthy. I didn't like the signing because Saffold is 36 or so now, and plays the position Bates should have a chance to earn (LG). Can Bates flip to RG? Some guys are better laying Left or Right. If Saffold misses time, we will probably see Bates flip back to LG and someone else go to RG. I would have looked at a guy for RG and let Bates play LG all season. Dawkins/ Bates/ Morse isn't All Pro, but it played lights out at the end of the season and in the playoffs. I do think Brown and Bates will learn a lot from Kromer and benefit the most. Kromer will identify that Bates is a very good 'move/ pulling guard'. He will coach up Brown who surprised me at times and let me down at times. He will fine tune Dawkins and Morse. If Doyle or Ford can play at all in the NFL level we will know by season end. I don't expect anything from Boettger due to his Achilles injury. I was surprised the Bills resigned him TBH. At least a strong voice like Kromer will help Buffalo cut bait with guys who can not play at the NFL level. I hope that leads to 1-2 real investments in OL next offseason, and that they are guys Kromer can work with to make the OL unit a strength. This year may be a bit of a learning curve and some shuffling. Could not agree with you more. Was surprised they signed another guy who plays LG. Bates should be provided a chance to win that position, but then who plays RG?

Bummer, The North East strikes again, ruining fun and happiness.... They must have read the post about the auto toll booths not able to differentiate 0 and O. At least we got some Seinfeld/Assman plate fun! He's in the Vorhees/ Berin area

So you are a proctologist! Might want to team up with Watson's last masseuse, sounds like he wanted a full exam 🤣

Yep my best friend lives in Southern Jersey half way between Philly and The Shore. Quite nice out there. Northern Jersey near the Airports/ NYC etc is not so nice. The other half of Northern NJ around the Delaware Gap/ Washington Township and Flemington are nice too.

Yep, he is about what a good utility outfielder is in baseball to the Bills. Poyer is still unsettled. Both Poyer and Hyde are over 30, he subs in Nickel packages and is a ST starter. No problem with this extension.

Tyreek Hill says Tua is more accurate than Mahomes
RocCityRoller replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
Was coming here to post something similar. Hill seems to have some sour grapes with the Chiefs and is now taking pot shots at the Chiefs/ Reid/ Mahomes. In one interview he refused to call Mahomes by name and just said 'I spoke to Reid, I spoke to the quarterback' etc. He was also complaining about his use and volume last year. -
The UDFA signings thread had some good Wydermeyer input and chat. I posted a few 'hype videos' from him at A+M. It was brought up he was really ill during his testing, that he was a top 3 target in most of his seasons at A+M, lined up out wide occasionally and blocked for Isaiah Spiller who was drafted in this class. He definitely played faster and stronger and more agile than his 'RAS score'. Last I checked RAS score was not causation for success in the NFL. I'm sure a higher score correlates with more success, but It isn't causal or tell all. When making a post like this it may not hurt to acknowledge his terrible combine or pro day sores/ why/ show some stats and make your case or attach a video or two. I think Bills fans are completely overselling OJ Howard, underselling our own in Knox and they may be sleeping on Wydermeyer. JW best chances are the Bills carry 3 TE, or the PS for a season. I do think he will make the team in one of those capacities (TE3/ PS). He has soft hands, good size, finds holes against zone, will block. 2019-2020 2021 not as solid as prior year
