  1. So the Bills may have too many good CBs in a passing league, even with a 1st rounder needing some time to acclimate to the NFL? Talk about first world problems.
  2. Gabe reminds me of Eric Moulds and the way he attacked and plucked the ball out of the air. Moulds was a special WR with terrible teams and QBs. He would be a terror on this offense. Gabe Davis is doing a good job of being that next guy. One of my favorite Bills.
  3. LOL Move over 'Big Baller Beane'..... I used to think JA was such a nice boy. Chris Watson looking at Jalen Ramsey film from last night and thinking that was terrible coverage. Vontae Davis had better coverage in the half he quit than Jalen Ramsey did last night.
  4. YES! The DL unit is a scary mix of guys who are coming into their prime, and are all capable of doing their job. It is synergies. No one guy has to do the heavy lifting, and everyone will benefit. Daquan Jones had a hell of a game last night. He looked like everything the Bills wanted Star/ Butler to be. He was an anchor and gave up very little ground. He even got into the backfield. There was nowhere to run. Everyone abused Hogeboom. Epenessa looked possessed on some plays. This DL attacks and attacks and comes in waves. The mix of youth, size, skill sets is formidable. Watch the Baldy breakdowns, there are numerous DL all over the place clogging lanes, getting pressure and gang hitting. It's really nasty. There is an excellent mix of youth, and prime age. Our oldest guy (Von Miller) is a game wrecker who does not have to lift the whole unit, but does. It isn't Von Miller and a bunch of guys. This may be the best mix on DL since the Williams/ Williams/ Dareus/ Hughes mix, but this line could be deeper, younger and more versatile. I'm a huge Phillips fan and so happy he is back. For whatever reason he plays best for Frazier and McDermott. It's kizmut. Phillips is meant to be a McDermott Buffalo Bill. He was out of position in some move/ backside plays, but the other DL held their point of attack, and the LBs/S were free to clean up. The Rams could not take advantage. Phillips is very good, but has flaws to his game. That said he plays his best football in a Bills uniform, and I'm thrilled he is back. If Jones/ Settle can hold the center, that allows Oliver and Phillips to attack the middle without fear. Add in Von Miller on the outside, Rousseau's size, Basham's knack for making plays and it gets really chaotic at the LOS. Even guys like Epenessa and Lawson are going to feast. Yeah Phillips added juice, he still has flaws, but his strengths are going to be showcased again in this rotation. DL is going to cause major problems this year, and it's great to see! This Defense has the potential to be Super.
  5. DL were moved all over. Some crazy looking alignments. This DL retool looks to be a much better attempt than the last one. One big thing is youth. Instead of older guys. They drafted a ton of DL, and now sprinkled in some mid career guys who were caught in numbers games like Jones and Settle to gel it all together. Von Miller is a much better playmaker than Addison was at the same point in their career. The DL is going to be one of my favorite units to watch this season. Bringing in Von Miller was a chips all in move. Phillips and the Bills reuniting was maturity from both parties. Phillips plays like his helmet is on fire for Frazier and McDermott. Even Epenessa looked good last night. My group was apoplectic we did not draft Creed Humphrey when Boogie was selected, but he quickly became a favorite in my group last year, and we loved seeing him make plays last night. The guy just makes plays.
  6. I could see him in Seattle. Run heavy team philosophy, uncork a few deep passes to Metcalf, play defense. Of all the other teams in the NFL, I think Seattle would be able to install a Jackson friendly offense. Still think Baltimore is his best fit though.
  7. Really impressed with the whole DL last night, a lot of studly performances. It was hard to focus on everyone, but our young guys (Rousseau/ Basham/ Epenessa) looked pretty nice. EDIT: just saw the Baldy Breakdowns. Confirmed the above. One play had the three young guys in with Jones and they wreaked havoc. One thing that stood out to me is how lean Boggie Basham looked! I don't recall any reports about Basham losing weight or being in better shape this camp, but wow I had to do a double take to remind myself who 55 was. He looked lean, mean and quick. Anyone who looked at his efficiency in his limited reps last year would be surprised. He was highly effective in his limited snaps last season. I thought he was a bit roly poly last year, and I wondered if his limited playing time last year was partly due to conditioning. He clearly worked out and took his conditioning seriously this offseason. With Addison and Hughes gone, I hope Boogie sees a lot more play time. I haven't seen the snap counts for last night, but Basham had 2 TAK, 1 Sack and an INT. He is a natural play maker and it looks like he took his craft seriously this offseason.
  8. The D Line kept Milano/ Edmunds/ Poyer/ Hyde pretty clean most of the game. Very few instances where OL were onto the second level and blocking the LB and S. Too many times the past few seasons I saw the LBs and S having to fight off a block and be the first man on a ball carrier. Daquon Jones was noticeable, as was Ed Oliver before he got knicked up. Rousseau also did a good job clogging lanes. Miller/ Basham and Phillips were creating havoc too. Didn't see Settle much, but whoever was playing DT and DE was tying up blockers and clogging run/pass lanes all night. (see Boogie Basham INT, and Rosseau's tipped pass) That should make Edmunds/ Milano/ Poyer/ Hyde's jobs much easier this year. Hopefully that translates to Edmunds having less traffic and slop to get through and make more solid solo tackles. Getting through slop is one of Edmunds weaknesses. Has been since his college tape. I think we saw some of what Edmunds could be if he can play clean. Tennessee will be a very good test to see if what I saw last night from the front 6+S will hold true against the more physical teams like TN/ BAL/ INDY.
  9. I have been hard on Singletary, as I don't consider him a RB1. I think he would be an amazing change of pace back with a studlier RB1. I was also very hopeful for Moss. That said, Singletary is clearly the best back on this team and should be getting 65-70% of the carries and snaps. Since the end of last season Singletary has run hard with decision, is a bit slippery versus the first hit, and consistently grinds out 4-7 YPC. He becomes a better runner with more carries. I do not for the life of me understand how Singletary is not getting 15-20 carries a game.
  10. His contract is in line with Jonnu Smith and David Njoku. Who would you rather have?
  11. Love it! In a year or two when other top TEs are due this will look like a bargain, as long as Knox keeps playing like last year or better.
  12. On a positive note, how much was raised for PUNT in honor/Memory of the Knox family?
  13. Sign me up! 🤣 /s
  14. so take a $2.6 million dead cap hit for Howard and then sign him again???? https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/cap/ no
  15. I said it when he was signed, the Achilles injury robbed him of his athleticism. It is unfortunate, but true. Achilles injuries are still nasty bugaboos for NFL players. 1/3 never play again, and those that do tend to have moderate careers after. A shame because Howard had the size and skill set to be a really good NFL TE. I didn't like the signing then, took heat for it, and reports are he is cut. It is what it is. The Bills gave him a chance. Boettger also had an Achilles, and I was surprised the Bills resigned him. Chances are very low he sees the field this year.
  16. Is there a summary page with all of the Bills cuts to date? NFL.com seems a bit behind and this thread is going wayward. Was Hodgins cut? So far the bubble guys cut I saw were Austin/ Howard and Duke Johnson
  17. To be fair both defenses were exhausted and smoked by the end of the game. Allen and Mahomes both got into a zone in that game and were nearly unstoppable. it's why it is an instant classic, even though as Bills fans not quite what we were hoping for.
  18. The GM is the head of 'player HR'. The GM oversees hiring/firing/scouting and doing background investigations on employees. The coach is like the manager. If the GM (HR) clears a person to join your team the Coach (manager) decides how best to utilize them. Coach had little to no input on the 'why' a player was drafted or signed. He manages them once they are on board. Any culpability or questions as to 'why a person is on the team' is the GM's responsibility, not the HC. It ultimately is Beane's responsibility. He stood up and did what he had to. Credit to McDermott for chipping in where he could to alleviate the pressure on Beane.
  19. Sean going for it. maybe a silver lining....
  20. Tampa wondered the same thing post injury. Fools Gold.
  21. damn it Hodgins, why can't you stay healthy?
