Been a rough offseason this far. Hoping there are some moves still to be made. But the sense seems to be we can just this thing back with a lessor team banking on better luck this year. Last year at this point I would not hesitate to put money down on a Bills Super Bowl. Now I am not sure we can win the East, let alone a Super Bowl.

Based on what he has done. I hope I’m wrong, just don’t have a good feeling about this especially if this is our big move at wr.

With a big price tag. Expensive lottery ticket if you ask me.

So are we paying harty more than poyer?
-
Hopefully Harty is better. We are paying lot more for him than Singletary.

Singletary—inarguably above average statistically: discuss

Numbers can be different than impact on the game. -
Agreed. Johnson is awful. Hamlin was serviceable and a good run defender. Willing to get dirty. In coverage he is lost.
-
Just being honest. Good person and a great story. I’m talking about realistic expectations of his play. That a problem?

Bobby Wagner - the solution to the Edmunds problem

Down to Wagner, Tranquil, Perryman, Jack, Bush, Evans I am signing Wagner for a deal close to Davis got ($7M) and would;d be nice get a cheap deal for a guy like Perryman. -
I hear you. But barring a major move by the Bills it is more likely they get passed by some teams than move up. And it is a big jump - in most peoples view we went from the AFC favorite to clearly behind KC and CIN, and now have MIA and NYJ on our heals. We need to get more help, plain and simple or hope things fall our way.
-
The point was the view of the Bills super bowl chances are trending downward not upward. I still think they have a shot. I would feel much better if they would do more to help Allen plus some help at LB/DB.

Its the logic of many, not sure if you are included. Frazier leaves and its an upgrade. Ignore that we had a top D. Same applies to Edmunds leaving. But in another argument, its the Bills have a top D so whatever you are saying is wrong blah blah. MIA gets Ramsey and its he sucks, Allen destroys him. Jets get Rodgers and he is old and washed up. KC and CIN sign two of the best OL and its they are only replacing guys they lost. Meanwhile, we celebrate the signing guys like Harty, expect Bernard to easily replace Edmunds, etc. I guarantee if Poyer did not resign it would be Beane knows not to overpay him, yet again its celebrated when he resigns. Why can't there be some good and some bad. I like teh McGovern signing, dont mind Allen, Poyer I want to see the numbers but am happy he is back. But I hate the Hines, Harty, Mata moves. I am disappointed we have not done more at WR and LB yet. This is my point. The trend is going in the wrong direction. Last year the betting on the Bills made a ton of sense. Right now, people are wondering if we can beat KC and CIN in the playoffs and if we can hold off MIA and NYJ.

Most are not saying McD and Beane are terrible. They are doing a decent job. Decent job plus Allen makes you a super bowl contender. Allen goes to MIA or NYJ and they are also super bowl contender (MIA the easy favorite if that happened). But CIN and KC are doing a better job at adding talent via the draft and in free agency. That is where the Bills are falling behind.

Last year the Bills were the Super Bowl favorite. After the Super Bowl this year they opened behind KC as second. As of now they are as low as 5th on sites behind KC, CIN, SF, PHI. The Jets jumped from a longshot to right behind the top 5. MIA has jumped to the next tier with SD, DAL, JAX, BAL.

Still have ability to get $15M more with restrux of guys like White, Morse, Dawkins and a few others.
-
This would not be a good plan. Neither is more than ST or depth. Bernard can be a nickel LB possibly but has not even been good in coverage despite his size.
-
Thank you for a reasonable take. I agree - the Chiefs and Bengals are entering free agency/draft much less needy than the Bills and still made a significant move. With the Fins and Jets, with Allen we are still the favorites it is just the margin for error is shrinking to razor-thin as we saw last year. We are a bad Allen game or injury away from losing to either of them. Two years ago the east felt like a cake walk, last year it was a struggle, next year is going to be an even bigger battle.

For $3M...
