He has given up 9 yards on 5 receptions in coverage. That is less than 2 yards per

Thats the tank plan. Then they draft Marvin Harrison Jr to pair with Chase and Higgins.

Way too early but... Edmunds 2 Tackles for Loss to Bernard 0 Edmunds 15 solo tackles to Bernard 7 Edmunds -3 yards after catch to Bernard 29 yards Edmunds 1.8 yards per completion to Bernard 11.7 per

That stat is an odd one. So player A chases down a guy on a sweep after 3 yards all the way to the sideline and his depth = 3.0. Player B is too slow to get to the sideline and guy turns the corner for 10 yards and it does nothing to Player B depth. Same goes for run up the middle you fight off a block and get the tackle after 2 yards = depth 2.0. Other guy gets completely blocked and makes no play so no impact. Maybe after 10 plus games this creates some meaning but its kind of useless. You get taken out of plays and it has no impact, but you make a tough tackle and your depth can look bad? Especially for ILB. Maybe a DT this has more meaning.

The funny thing about this board is everything has to be extreme. The Bills did not sign Edmunds so he has to suck, be worse than Bernard, Bears are stupid, etc. It cant be that he is a good player, the Bills would have love to keep him, just were not wanting to spend $20M on him or any MLB. If they signed him we would still have an anti-Edmunds group but many that now say he is not worth the money or Bernard is fine would be celebrating how we got him for less than Roquan Smith. Its ok for him to be good and not be on the Bills anymore.

But Garoppolo is a winner. All he does is win yet no one wants him...

This Edmunds guy must be out of the league if he is not making that play.

To All You Dorsey/McD Haters What Say You Now ?
ngbills replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall
I would say its a combo. Allen struggled the Jets game but the play calling was also questionable. It feels like Dorsey is still figuring things out. McD had a few goofs in week 1 and week 2 was better and happy to see him taking chances. But end of the day if your players dont show up to play that does fall on the coaches. Cant say we had a great plan but the players didnt execute, that is on you fair or unfair. -
I think its the leftovers from the Edmunds hate. People are so eager to say how amazing he has been and pretend like he is doing things Edmunds never could. He gets an assist on a tackle wear he jumps on the pile after the play and its the best play of all time. Outside of a few plays he does not have much that would go on a Bernard highlight real. I will bet everything I have that if today Bernard and Edmunds were free agents that Edmunds gets the bigger contract and potentially by 10 fold. That is not to say he is awful, though he has struggled at times, its more that is not doing anything outstanding. That seems to be the ceiling right now, don't do anything to hurt the team. But there is this odd wanting to celebrate mediocrity. Its ok to have higher expectations. To Kirksey - I would like to see him brought up. I think he is at a minimum a run down back but could be the every down back and Bernard becomes the obvious passing situation guy. However, Kirksey is not bad in coverage.

To All You Dorsey/McD Haters What Say You Now ?

We should be 2-0 and we are 1-1. That is underachieving. Come back after 8 games. If we the Bills are worse than 6-2 that will also be a disappointment. If we miss the 1 seed by 1 game, then yes the Jets loss sucks. If we miss the playoffs altogether then it is a huge disappointment. Anything less than an AFC championship game will be a let down. Just the reality of where this team should be at. So when you play a stinker and your game looks like the smell, then you can criticize everyone. There are no free passes unless its game 17 and your resting your whole roster. -
I re-watched every play from the first game. Have not done so for the 2nd game yet. Not a ton of plays so should not be a hard one to do. I both played later coached at the college and high school levels. So do have experience watching tape. Bernard has been better since the 1st have of the Jets game. He was bad in the first half of the Jets game and would call him average since then. if you can protect him, he is not as much of a liability. Or if he is in coverage he is not as much of a liability. Nothing special, just hopefully wont hurt you. Without being in the room it is hard to say, but it looks like he is still learning to call the D. There is more confusion than is typical pre-snap. He can get lost if a guy gets a block on him and has trouble shedding the block. The Raiders could not get past the DL this week so Bernard didnt have a ton of chances. He was in coverage a lot more than stopping the run, which is good. Also had him lined up tight with Milano a lot, I assume to protect him and put more guys in the box.

Let’s go Buffalo! The Erie County (NY) Sheriff’s Office announced Monday that a 29-year-old male, whose name has been withheld so he can possibly change it before this arrest report ruins his life, was arrested Sunday at the Bills tailgate after falling into a pit at the construction site for the new Bills Stadium. This wasn’t just any kind of arrest. The grown man was covered in crap and that’s just the beginning of the fun for this wild man. According to the Buffalo News, the guy had covered himself in crap inside a portable toilet around 12:18 p.m. before exiting the Porta-let and getting naked. That’s when he jumped a construction site fence and went streaking right into a 30-foot pit where police arrested him for this ridiculous behavior. Dude, what were you thinking?

It was on the Chiefs message board. Think Field Yates was reporting that or something. https://x.com/FieldYates/status/1703869235317919883?s=20

Chiefs get an extra $3M or so in cap space from this. The cap is a weird thing...give a guy more money sooner and you get more money to spend.

There has been a lot of chatter on the board around being in the gun vs under center. I have been pushing to go under center more (especially when running the ball) and utilize the play action out of it. The eye test seems to support it but what do the numbers say after two games: Rushing Shotgun - 18 runs for 77 yards or 4.3 yards per and 0 TD Under Center - 39 runs for 203 yards or 5.2 yards per and 2 TD's The Bills are averaging almost a yard more per attempt running from under center. And these numbers are likely skewed by more short yardage plays from under center (goal line and sneaks) Passing Shotgun - 27 of 38 or 71% for 192 yards (5.1 per attempt) with 1 TD and 3 Int (8% int rate). Passer rating of 58. Under Cneter - 33 of 40 or 83% for 318 yards (8.0 per attempt) with 3 TD and 0 Int (0% int rate). Passer rating of 125. Wow. I knew there would be a difference but that is a huge difference. I know its only 2 games but both running and passing the team is playing much better under center. Is this Josh? Is it the personnel (new OL, new RB, more 2 TE)? Teams adjusting and knowing what the Bills are doing out of the gun? To me the morale of the story is the Bills need to mix it up and be less predictable. Go under center, mix in pay action, start under center and then have Josh back off. Whatever you need to do so teams don't know exactly what is coming.

Obviously 34 tackles then...My point is he played an ok game. The coaches will watch the tape and there will be some good and some bad. How the game played out because the Bills DL and Bills overall dominated the game he was not required to do much. I would not sell this performance as a we have our future all pro mlb like he was out there just destroying people and tookover the game. The team got the job done, he got an easy pick and otherwise what noticed a ton which is good. Your MLB will lead your team in tackles 90% of the time. That should be expected not used as a see he played great stat.
-
Really? My 10 year old daughter could have caught that. And to say Edmunds could not have made that play is just absurd. No - 16 tackles
-
Nobody is wrong about him. MLB is still a need for the Bills. He did less to hurt them this week than last. That was mostly because the DL dominated not him. He had 6 tackles as a MLB. It’s not like he was flying all over and had 20 tackles. Not all interceptions are created equal - unlike Milano his was luck and just right place right time. Bills one. The D played well. So his play is noticed less. That is good. But I doubt anyone was watching saying wow, look at that 43, he is baller.
-
The Bills have to mix it up and go under center a lot more. You can still mix it up but they seem much better suited to play that way. Teams can play the same D with the drop hand off and actually can spot Allen much better in the gun. Going under center forces the D to move up and react quicker which opens the play action. Plus build a bunch of tape playing under center so come playoffs teams need to game plan more. This gun offense has gotten way too predictable. Yes and no. He could not resist going back to the gun especially in the red zone. The td’s to Davis and Shakir could have both gone badly and this game looks different. Lots of work to do still to play vs a team better than the raiders.
-
Would love a play action at the goal line like the td to Knox. Run same play but to other side.
-
Let’s get Cook a td.
-
Dorsey just can’t resist going back to it.
-
Why run that play anyway. See how easy the play action was.
-
Wow. A miracle.
-
Have to look at yards per run under center. It’s like 8.
