Have not seen anything yet. But seems like at least a raise which is odd in this market and coming off a year he was not even a starter vs the year before. No doubt could have got him back for cheap.

My hope is Rapp deal has no guarantees so we locked him up as a back up plan. If they can sign guys off this list then you cut Rapp unless the deal is incentive based meaning if he is not your starter he is only making $1.5-2M.

In that market there is no way that Rapp would be in high demand. He wasnt last year when the market was not even close to this loaded. And I will add he was coming off a better year in which he started 16 games. Yet we are at least doubling his salary it appears? Makes no sense. I would have bet on bringing him back in the open market at essentially the same $1.7M he got this year.

Honestly why waste anything more than $1M on a back up QB? KC paid Gabbert $1M or CIN had Browning at $750K to be a back up which is a much better use of $. If we need Trubisky to play more than a few games the season is in trouble no matter what.

Agreed. I would like to see them wait out on all of those signings. None scream of better get that guy before someone else does. Rapp looks overpay unless the report is greatly exaggerated. No way he should have gotten 3/$15M. Yes - weird use of "great start". Did some obvious things (Harty, Hines, Bates, Douglas, Miller), some tough things (Morse, White, Poyer) and some "what" things (Rapp, Haack, Trubisky).

Still waiting on Rapp details. Hopefully its not actually $4-5M per with the guys available.

Yes and no. Hyde was a guy that played like 70% of the snaps in GB for a few years. Poyer played 90%+ the year before in CLE, though was on IR part of the year. Prior to that was a situational guy. But yes they both hit their stride in BUF and became all pros.

We are not talking huge numbers here. But if we are cap strapped and counting pennies to sign at other positions then I let Edwards walk and use a rookie or vet minimum guy be our OL depth and extra OL. But at most its like a $1.3M overpay.

You could go down the list of every super bowl winning team and find free agents that led to a super bowl win. It may always not be in year 1 of their deal but every team is built with both free agents and draft picks. If you are trying to say a free agent that single handedly won a super bowl that is not really realistic because now it is basically an argument around QB's. But you then have Stafford, Brady, Manning in the last few years.

Mangas is Brady's guy. Shula wasnt. Simple as that.

Buyers market if you want an older S, or any S for that matter. Draft one this year or next and sign a couple vets on 1 year deals. Or if pricing is down get a younger guy on the cheap for 3-5 years.

They are always better. The guys that leave sucked anyway. Addition by subtraction. The guys that come in are all superstars and hidden gems. Clear upgrades across the board.

The nfl is full Of jag’s. You can throw just about any of them on the field and call it an emergence. They made the nfl fit a reason. All pro level guys is another story. You don’t get rid of all pros and replace them with jag’s.
