That is absurd on multiple levels. 1. Beane knew from the start AB would want big money. You don’t need to get in the trade talks to find that out. 2. Players like to see guys get paid. That is a unifying front for them. The bills players would have loved to get AB in their team. 3. Don’t pay for stars because we have young guys that will get upset? Let’s be a team of guys on rookie contracts and be a 4-7 win team forever.

One Bills Live was hilarious today.

We got him: What an awesome move. Is Beane the best GM in football or what. Instant playoff team and super bowl contender. We did not get him: He sucks anyway. He is a diva and on the downside of his career. His number are going to be awful this year, just see. We never wanted him anyway just trying to mess with Pit. -

Even more funny is Tasker asking Greg Cossell (?) if Brown is a #1 WR. He is maybe #1 in the league and your asking if he is a #1? Seriously... -

Still think we could use an additional WR. But the OL looks much improved and TE position solidified. Love could be a steal at RB.

2019 NFL Draft Wide Receiver Prospect Primer

The pick is -
We dont know what is going on behind the scenes at PSE. Here is what we do know about the Bills and Sabres: Bills were 9-7 when Pegula bought the team. The team then went 8-8 in 2015, 7-9 in 2016, 9-7 in 2017 and 6-10 in 2018. I would not call that progress. In the same short time period they went from Marrone to Ryan to McD and changed GM's. Too soon to call a disaster but the playoff season skews the reality of the mediocrity at best that has been the Bills under Pegula. Sabres are a complete disaster. Bought the team in 2011. A team that had been a consistent playoff contender. The team had never gone more than 3 years without making the playoffs. We are now on 8 years and counting. The team had only had one sub 64 point full season since 1971-72 and has now had 3 with Pegulas as owners. They have had 3 top 3 draft picks since buying the team, top 10 picks every year since 2012. Going into the season they were the worst the last 7 years. Why should Terry be good at running a team? I dont know. Is he really just a lucky rich guy. He really just got lucky and struck oil and was able to sell for a few billion. Not like he has a history of success running businesses or let alone sports teams.

Dont bet on Long being the answer. Bodine, Newhouse, Ducasse were also supposed to be the answers... -
What do you want to see this offseason: DRAFT
ngbills replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Stats are one thing and only part of the picture. I would not call those stats pedestrian regardless. UW this past year followed him all over the field and game played around him. ASU tried to counter that by running the ball and playing the possession game. Was a terrible strategy and they only thew for 100 yds. -

Harry will be first WR taken. The guy is just a beast and his speed is underrated. AJ Green, Michael Thomas upside. Dont get the Treadwell comparisons. The games his freshman and sophomore year was against a ridiculous secondary. Think 3 or 4 of them all were drafted in the 2nd round. -
Watch the Harry highlights. Guy is a freak and usually looks like the best player on the field.

I think they go OL or DL. Player that is growing on me though is WR - N'Keal Harry. Could be the weapon we need. Go watch the highlights if you have not seen the kids. -
You need an offense to get there. I would say - Defense can win in the playoffs or defense can win one game. But over the stretch of 16 games you need at a minimum an above average offense. Just ask TEN and JAC. Both had solid defenses that were good statistically but Offenses that could not keep up over a season.

Shows in same ways how easy it is to make the playoffs. You will have the top teams but the fight for the last 2-3 spots is not too far from the fight for the bottom 3 spots. Just playing with the ESPN tool it was way easier to get the Bills in the playoffs than I expected. Even as simple as all home teams win out, but the Bills win vs Pats and Dolphins on road and they are on. So Bills win out, not much of a stretch for other teams ahead of them to fall.
-
We have been here before. Bills could wind up one of the bottom teams in the league or with a lot of help sneaking in the playoffs. How likely is it? There are 5 locks so one spot is up for grabs and its not as hard as it seems. The Bills have one of the easiest schedules but rely on others slipping. http://www.espn.com/nfl/playoffs/machine If you select the defensive ranking criteria the Bills win out and get the help needed to make the playoffs. If you select the offensive ranking criteria the Bills lose out and finish with the 4th pick in the draft. Looking at the schedule - Bills have 2 vs Fins, Jets, Lions and Pats. All but Pats very winnable games. Playing with the simulator there are lots of roads to get in. But one loss and they are done. Feels like about 90% of the last 15-20 years but at least technically a chance.

It is funny. You hate Stevie or hate Tyrod. Guys that were actually class acts and over achievers. Should they have just played terrible so fans would not get mad at them for being too good but not good enough? I praise guys that the most of what they got and play with a ton of heart and grit. Take that any day over the guy with the big expectations but does not seem to put it all together. Usually that is do to not putting in the work or having the grit.

If Zay pans out, McD's first two drafts are awesome
ngbills replied to Da webster guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Interesting thing about drafts - seem to wind up crapshoots Donohoe: 2001 draft was solid - Clements, Schoebel, Henry, R Edwards, J Jennings 2002 draft was terrrible - M Williams, J Reed, Denney 2003 draft was ok - McGahee, Kelsay, McGee, Crowell, Haggan 2004 draft was bad - Losman, Evans 2005 draft was terrible - Parrish Levy 2006 draft was ok - Whitner, K Williams, and some mediocre guys 2007 draft was ok/good - Lynch, Poz, Edwards Brandon 2008 draft was bad - McKelvin, S Johnson 2009 draft was ok - Wood, Byrd, Levitre Nix 2010 draft was awful - Spiller, Troup, Wang 2011 draft was ok - Dareus, A Williams, Shephard, Searcy 2012 was ok - Gilmore, Glenn, Bradham Whaley 2013 (Nix too) draft was ok or bad - Manuel, Woods, Alonso, Goodwin 2014 draft was terrible - Watkins, kouanjio, P Brown 2015 draft was bad - Darby, Miller 2016 draft was bad - Lawson, Ragland, Washington McBeane 2017 ? - White, Jones, Dawkins, Milano 2018 ? - Allen, Edwards, Phillips -
Josh Allen starts week 12 but shows no growth....

This is no longer about this year. You play Allen to get him experience so the game slows down next year. -
Bills have #27th ranked Defense according to ESPN
ngbills replied to Estelle Getty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
3-7 and people are mad? Until last game we were on pace for one of the worst offenses ever. Without the ridicule we may have kept playing Peterman and been the worst ever. It is deserved at #27. Win some games it goes up. -
Can We Finally Give McBeane The Benefit of the Doubt?
ngbills replied to Buffalo03's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think its hard to quantify the effect the score has on stats. If a team is up big it changes the entire course of the game. They could very well be a good defense and I do beleive they are at least above average. But the way the season has gone it makes it hard to tell. I will say that was McD took over play calling things got much better. But the D got pretty much destroyed in at least 3 of the 10 games. The D has looked really good in another 3-4. And another 3-4 were ok. BAL - D got destroyed LAC - D got destroyed MIN - D dominated GB - D bad, not as bad as BAL and LAC TEN - D dominated HOU - D dominated IND - D got destroyed NE - D got handled, but kept was able not give up some TD's CHI - Who knows, 28-0 at half. Helped D stats since CHI didnt even need to play offense. NYJ - D dominated -

ngbills replied to Da webster guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Here is the thing with bad teams. It easier to start lesser quality players you drafted. You could start 20 draft picks from the past two years and that does not mean the draft was a home run. It they are showing it on the field immediately maybe. Or after a few years legit players. This has been a debate forever - the current coaches always start their draft picks and then we say how good they drafted. Then after a few years the guys are not better and no longer starting. Rinse and repeat. Not saying the drafts are bad. Just that the logic of using if they start is faulty. -
Yes and no. Look at the history of the NFL. There are a ton of random QB's that start a game here or there every year. Guys like a Mullins in SF or Tuel with Bills a few years ago and so on. Two differences. 1) They are better than NP. 2) The coaches dont put them out there over and over if it is clear they should not be.
