DiMarco (Dabolls Swiss army knife)
ngbills replied to Buffalo716's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I get using him for limiting blitzes by getting the LB pout of the box. But he should not the designed to throw the ball to on that play. If they are keeping a LB off the field with Gore/Singletary we run the ball on that front. There are many ways to create mismatches in the NFL. How many teams are using a Dimarco outside the hashes? -

I would prefer having Gore/Singletary in some of those sets. Or use a TE as the Dimarco. You are going for the LB mismatch and I dont see Dimarco v LB as a mismatch. Singletary v LB is a diff story. -

You dont need a Dimarco to do that. Plenty of other ways. -

I prefer the question - is he the guy that should be lining up all over the field? I would rather have someone else be the Dimarco...buy honestly dont worry too much about it. -
First Half wasn't as awful as everyone is saying
ngbills replied to mjt328's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Unfortunately turnovers and penalties are part of the game. So cant say if you exclude those it was a good half etc. And you want to say exclude that...then it should go both ways were you include the dropped int's or mistakes by the jets defense. That said, I would agree it was a decent performance and not as bad as it sounds (0 points, turnovers, etc.). Maybe I havent read or listened enough yet but I dont see a lot of Allen sucks like this thread is saying. There are always going to be the random people that say whatever. Most seem to agree there was some good and bad. Overall, Bills got bailed out by the defense. If the D does not show up in this game it could have been out of reach and that changes the whole game. Down only 16-0 in that kind of game kept the door open for the Bills to steal one. -
Defense A+. Bills are out of this one early if D does not step up.

OAK planning to suspend AB (edit: apologized, playing)

They are taking the winning cures anything approach. They win and he keeps playing. If they start losing dont be surprised if he is back in the dog house. -

This. Half of the players in the NFL would not be employed if there was what some people call the "process". Its entertaining to hear stuff like "I still doubt McD would have wanted AB". As if McD has some either prophetic powers or is on some other moral level. The Bills have employed and kicked the tires on tons players with baggage or other issues. Just look at Jerry Hughes, Zay Jones, Shady, Incognito, Dodson, Duke Williams and more. End of the day teams want players that can help them win and hope to limit the nonsense. The better you are the more teams will put up with. -
1. The Pats will get this pick plus others back via their own trades and comp picks always do. 2. Funny how when teams trade for or sign our guys the response - see how much talent this team has and how great Beane is in bringing them in. Now guy gets cut and its see how smart Beane is for getting rid of the this guy. Cant have it both ways...guy was not good enough on our team or another team. If anything we kept him around way longer, after just a few weeks they saw he sucked.

Related to Beane - Point is the AB situation is not an example of "Thank God we have Beane". Beane did not save us from having AB. Whaley or whoever before him would not have gotten AB. Whatever other spin people want to make on it to push a Beane is great agenda is absurd. We tried to get the guy and didnt - no credit due for that. Its a reach but IMO but if anything the fact we even tried to get him shows we were not the prophetic genius people try to imply. -

Fact is we tried to get him. My point is some are talking like Beane and the Bills should somehow get a pat on the back that he is not here. Here is the real deal 1) We wanted him 2) We didnt get him 3) He is crazy 4) Thankfully he is not our problem, no credit to us for that -

It is funny. Beane tried and was not successful in getting AB because he did not want to come here. Yes, it now probably is good that he didnt. But lets not pretend like Beane did anything positive here. He essentially failed in trying to get him, but got lucky AB did not want to come or it would be the Bills dealing with this nonsense. -
Truly New Period For Bills With Shady Gone
ngbills replied to corta765's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To be fair - last year he did not have a good year. The prior he did play well and was a big part why the team made the playoffs. Last year I dont know if any RB could have excelled. That offense due to the personnel other than Shady was a joke. I hope this is not a similar situation as Tyrod. Where you keep Shady and let him be there until Singletary is ready. Now say he is not ready and we are falling back on Gore/Yeldon. Reminds me of Nathan Peterman and AJM with Allen. -

Nationally speaking - Bills are invisible. Some pick the team as a whole to be "surprise" team but even them can barely tell you anyone on the roster. McCoy was the most recognizable name. Most do not think a whole lot of Josh Allen yet. For example, was just listening to a show talking about Goff's contract. They went through every starter and said Goff or that guy...on Allen it was a Josh Allen, no without even a discussion. They at least debated Sam Darnold ultimately saying no but at least discussed it. Even discussed Fitz. Allen was simple no. -

Did anyone see the NFL played a game on an 80 yard field? Not sure what else can be said to show that pre-season is a joke...

Short term memory. Every year after the draft it was the best draft ever and I cant remember the last time the Bills had a great draft, etc. It is the "we dont know yet, so these guys are all great" concept. Then if they suck in a couple years the cycle repeats "this years draft is so much better than two years ago". Yes there have been some sucky drafts but in the moment many hyped up how great they were before they knew they sucked. There were also some good drafts that get forgotten or spun as not so good or just were not good here. Looking at some of the old drafts... 2007 - Lynch, Poz and Edwards, three starters at key positions. 2009 - Wood, Byrd, Levitre 2011 - Dareus, Williams, Shepperd, Searcy 2012 - Gilmore, Glenn, Bradham 2013 - Woods, Alonso, Goodwin

PFF Top 10 Rookie List: Ryan Bates/Darryl Johnson
ngbills replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great to see but hard to tell without seeing them against solid NFL talent. Beating or being the best of the guys fighting for roster spots does not mean you are better than a guy that on paper is performing worst but against NFL starters. Simplest example: Cole Beasley vs Tre White: Beasley catches 3 passes for 15 yds Duke Williams vs Cam Lewis: Williams catches 7 passes for 150 yds Duke must be better right? No, White on Duke could have been 0 for 0 while Lewis on Beasley and he goes for 9 catches and 250 yds. -

Flacco and Stafford. -
More than one team can make a mistake right? The Bears probably feel ok with the decision. They were 12-4 and feel good about their QB. The 49ers, Jets and Bills are still in wait and see mode. All have QB's that could be the answer. I would argue any of the three would take Mahomes in a heartbeat over the current QB. Remember, the reason the Bills are tied to Mahomes the most is because they traded the pick. Yes others could have drafted Mahomes higher in the draft but the Bills traded the pick he was drafted with meaning they did not value him at #10. Subtle but meaningful - Bears can say at #2 they did not value Mahomes there, but at #10 they would have for example. Bills are the only team that passed at him that far down the board.

That is the point. Its pre-season. Not the best indicator of player performance clearly shown by Peterman. Allen stats are not even on the Peterman preseason level yet...I see no problem saying it does not mean a whole lot.
