What realistic coaching changes do you expect?
ngbills replied to BigBadBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Wrong thread...but this continues to bother me. If we are trying to score (the 2nd down play call undoubtedly shows we wanted to score) with around 2 mins then why run the clock all the way down like they did? All that did was leave only enough time for KC to win the game. We would have been better off moving quicker so that there is possibly enough time for us to have another drive as well. -

At least special teams. They should at least do a full OC search. Hire a DC. They need to look long and hard. PHI is making a ton of changes and had a similar year to us. -
I was talking about the playoff game. Unfortunately you can carry over what happened during the regular season.
-
Those two drives proved to be the ballgame.
-
Watching the effort it took our O to score vs the effort KC required is like watching a little kid trying his hardest against his big brother letting him keep it close but not win.
-
Feel like we set the bar way too low around here sometimes.
-
Exactly - Mahomes barely broke a sweat last night. The Chiefs essentially scored on every drove but one. They had 5 total 3rd downs all game. The longest drive was only 10 plays long yet they had 4 drives over 60 yards. They could do whatever they wanted to this D.

We are running a high school offense right now. Your QB is the best athlete so keep the ball in his hands with a ton of runs and short throws like you have no real wr's. I know McD likes this style but I dont think its sustainable. Every drive takes max effort and will wear your team down as the season goes. We need a combo of the short game with the big plays. That is the NFL. Go watch DET, BAL, SF, etc and they do both.

There is no tank for a year to rebuild in 2025. I dont think that is possible. You have to make some difficult decisions this year to get better for next year. Likely moves: White cut, Morse cut, Poyer cut, Harty cut, Hines cut. Some could be restrux or resigned to cheaper deals. These alone are $30M and not hard players to replace. Restrux: Allen, Diggs, Miller alone give you $40M. So just the moves above are $70M in savings. If you need more you can restrux guys like Knox, McG, Milano and some others to get another $10M+. That gives you enough to draft a wr, sign a wr, and add some players to the D. QB Allen RB Cook, cheap rb's are always available WR Diggs, Shakir, Free agent, draft pick, draft pick, shorter, other free agents TE Kincaid, Knox, cheap TE OL Free agent C or Bates, McG, Torrence, Dawkins, Brown or free agent RT DT Oliver, Jones, Free Agents/Draft Picks DE Rousseau, Miller, Free Agents/Draft Picks (AJE, Floyd, Phillips, Lawson?) LB Bernard, Milano, Spector, Williams, Free Agents/Draft Picks DB Douglas, Johnson, Benford, Elam, Draft/Picks Free Agents

I think they already confirmed the play was called before they knew KC only had 10 on the field. That was the call from the start. Very aggressive call. Giving it to Damar makes it a stupid call. You at least give it to someone like Ty Johnson, Harty or even Isabella.

Divisional Playoffs - Chiefs at Bills - Post game thread
ngbills replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Truth. Bills win a few of those should win games and we are likely healthier from having a bye in round 1, then would have played HOU this week, and playing winner of KC/BAL game next week. -
After watching the highlights again I think you’re right. The $ to Harty and Sherfield was wasted. Give that to dhop this is a different team.
-
Another if McD stays question is who this team is. Do you trust McD to create an identity that works for this roster and adjusts to what is working in the league? Are we a grind out the clock O that we saw last night? Is that even sustainable or why you pay Josh $50m? Are we better running the ball 50/50 or should we be airing it out? Is the lack of wr production due to talent or scheme? A lot of questions to be answered. I don’t what the identity of this team is and I don’t know if I trust McD to figure that out.
-
Well you can point at a lot of individual plays. But overall the D could barely stop KC on any plays. That is beyond injuries and is about game plan. McD did not have an answer to what KC was doing. They could move the ball at will from the start. Change the players and o don’t see the result being that different. Kelce one on one with a clean release is not working if you have Bernard. Broken coverages in the secondary are happening without injuries. No sacks and minimal pressure is happening without the injuries. If we score a TD or the tying FG I have zero confidence KC doesn’t march down and score.
-
If not McD - They better fire the special teams coach. We need to hire an OC, Brady did an admiral job but he is not the answer. If they believe in him, give him nice title to keep him. Take a look at other coaches that are due for a change. But honestly I don’t know if things change without a change at the top. It’s the little things that make some teams good and others great. A new regime could be what gets you there.

Divisional Playoffs - Chiefs at Bills - Post game thread
ngbills replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
KC adjusted on D in the second half enough to stop two Bills drives. That was the difference. Bills D never adjusted to KC O. We were lucky the Bills O was able to sustain long drives or KC puts up like 50. That was the ballgame. -
Nearly every loss this year it was the D letting the team down in big spots. That is McD.
-
Yep. Why would we want to score quick if we could. Kc would just get the ball and march down.
-
No way we were stopping them. They barely even needed 3rd downs. The literally marched down the field all game. Could have had no d out there.

Special teams - missed fg lack of wr - no passing game lack of lb - Kelce running free No surprises -
We won’t fire him. But I think McD is a good but not great coach. He folds under the pressure. We could not stop kc and I don’t blame the injuries. They did whatever they wanted and McD had no answer.
