  1. Of names being mentioned around the league: AJ Green DeVante Parker Melvin Gordon OJ Howard Shaq Barrett
  2. Better at some things. Still struggling with others. We should not confuse team success with player success. This defense is what has led to the 5-1 record more than the QB play. If the D played the way it started last year and Allen played how he has we are not 5-1 and probably a 1-2 win team.
  3. Average NFL QB's have to hit wide open WR's. The great ones can even place the ball in there when a guy is covered. But when you have a few yards of separation you have to make that pass.
  4. Agreed on the play design. I hate plays that our designed to be one read. You watch this develop and its either McK or throw the ball away. Your other guys are just clearing out space. Allen takes too much time to throw so the coverage has time to get over to cover McK. Rather than have your WR on the left side run the slant, if he runs a shallow drag route you may now give Allen a secondary option.
  5. Yes and crazy to be complaining about a Bills team not running enough. There needs to be a balance and feel for the game. Way too often Gore has an 8 yard run and then is not running again for 7 plays. Mix it up a little. Take the pressure off your young QB. Give him some easier throws to hit. Mix in the more complicated stuff.
  6. That play is not the best example. Watch it on the all 22 and you see that Allen is both late throwing the ball and has awful footwork. He has gotten into a really bad habit this year not setting to make his throws. Its the danger of having a strong arm, always think you can just sling it. I do agree another playmaker on offense would make a big impact. I think a playmaker WR or possibly better a RB that is a threat out of the backfield. We have seen Yeldon catch some passes, imagine if that was legit RB back there doing that.
  7. If they have been all game one might think it will be similar right? Its like he is thinking if I run a pass now they will be caught off guard. Oh shucks they weren't. Maybe if do it again they will. No dice. Maybe one more try. Oh crap, next time I am just going to run it.
  8. Regardless of how they have won. Before the season started what record did we expect at this point? Most would have said 5-1 or 4-2 at worst.
  9. Yes and no. That Dallas team that was putting up huge points in most games and won 9 games by double digits. And four by more than 20 pints. Not us yet. And even so, that team went on to lose its first playoff game. Those NE teams were similar. Yes some close games but also some blowouts. This Bills team has not proven it can blow anyone out yet. We all want to see the Bills play a game like we saw NE play last night. We are closer to losing to a bad team right now than we are to blowing them out.
  10. But he traded a 3rd for KB...
  11. Its in NE is probably the main reason he is saying that. Why should the Bills have won? It was a battle of defenses and NE did what it needed to do. What is more likely - Brady plays better or Allen plays better next time?
  12. Did you watch that game? Yes it was acceptable given the circumstances.
  13. Bit of a stretch. They had a good drive to start the half. Next drive was 3 and out. After that was an Allen Int. Next drive he got hurt and it was going to be another 3 and out potentially.
  14. Bills would be 5-1 with Darnold as QB. Lets stop with using the Bills record vs Jets record as the measuring stick.
  15. If there is an NFL draft and these are the 5 QB available where does Allen get picked? I say he goes 3rd behind Mayfield and Jackson.
  16. If's are what we are seeing of of yet. His play still has much room for improvement. Other Qb's have lost jobs with his level of play. Do you feel the current version we are seeing of Josh Allen is good enough to be the teams QB for the next 10 years?
  17. I have been round for it all as well. Which is why I am critical of things. Yes Allen is progressing and yes he needs time, But I dont need the smoke blown up my you know what about how I am blind and he is really playing great. We are 5-1 so who cares or whatever else. We could be 5-1 or 6-0 with a ton of QB's with how this defense has played. Barring an incredible meltdown JA is here for this year and next at least. If next year he is still playing this way there will be questions about his ceiling.
  18. Allen over 200yds in all but 6 of 17 games. That is around 65% of the time over 200yds. Allen over 250yds only 2 times in 17 games. Would not call that 250yds minimum. Allen overall averaging under 200yds in his 17 games Tyrod was at 200yds 55% of the time. Tyrod was over 250yds 25% of the time. Tyrod through less picks in in nearly triple the number of games. So far we are getting less of the Allen upside compared to the dont turn the ball over Tyrod.
  19. No he was not. There was a ton of talk about this around draft time. NFL passer rating on deep passes in 2017:Human Howitzer All-World Arm Josh Allen: 84.6 (31.0% complete), 37th in the draft class@bakermayfield : 134.8 (56.7% complete), 13 TDs, 1 INT, led the draft class.Oh, Mayfield had more passes dropped too. #ArmTalent. What good is a rocket launcher arm if you don't know how to use it?Josh Allen completed just one pass of 40+ yards in 2017. Each of the other QBs in this class completed at least 3 such passes. Among the top #NFLDraft QB prospects, @Lj_era8 was the most aggressive on 3rd down, throwing 71.1% of his attempts past the sticks
  20. I get it. But many guys can do it occasionally. The reality is thus far in his career he has issues the majority of the time. This year and last year. In college he was not great at deep balls. We seem to confuse his ability to throw far and hard with the ability to connect with receivers on those balls. He has the potential to be good at based on his arm strength just not skilled at it as of now.
  21. That is it? Many guys can throw the ball and sometimes people will catch it. Its about doing it consistently. You can find clips like that of guys that dont ever play a down in college let alone the NFL.
  22. When did he show this? Last year? No. 28 QBR in passes at least 20 yds. No. 27 in completion percentage on long passes (at least 30 attempts) at 27.1%. No. 19 in on-target percentages at 50.8%. No. 1 in most interceptions on deep pass attempts with seven and only five touchdowns.
  23. That is what I was thinking. When we are up 14-0 then start flinging it around mixed in with runs. I felt like he tried hard early to get Allen going vs letting the team establish the run as they could not stop it.
  24. He should have got the ball more the first few drives yesterday. He was breaking off big runs. Set the tone and then hit them with the passing attack.
  25. The Bills are 5-1. It is undeniable that they have a defense in the top of the league. The offense is another story. What are your opinions of Daboll? How much of the struggle is on the players vs the play calling / scheme? The first half of the Dolphins game was killing me. Showed some patterns from the entire season, but against a bad team I expected better. Some of Yesterday especially boneheaded: Designed runs to Allen vs the worst team in the NFL. Once in a while, sure. But really, we trying to get him hurt. Not needed in this game, especially in the first quarter. Gore - Drive #1 - First play 8 yard run; only one more run that drive. Drive #2 - Gore 10yd run first play; zero runs rest of drive. We never establish the run even thought Gore is breaking off long runs consistently. All Seaon: Long Developing plays. Way too many routes that take forever for a guy to get where he needs to be. Getting into a flow. This offense has struggled getting into a flow. A lot of times one play sets them back. Cutesy Plays - Once in while ok. But too many of these we are going to fool you plays. Save them for the right spots not 3 times in one drive. Getting calls in - Allen seems frantic trying to get the ball snapped way too often. Identity - Are we pass happy team? A running team that can pass? Do we adjust to the defense playing? Can we adjust to schemes?
