Just because something is in the media every day doesn’t mean it’s accurate. The majority of the dog whistling “police brutality” shouted about in the media these days is boiled down to examples of cops shooting people resisting arresting and attacking cops. There are some that are definitely wrong, and I’m sure @Sig1Hunter would condemn them when he sees them- just as I would. The reality of it is that the guy in the original video could have been shot dead and 100% deserved it. As soon as you attack a cop you forfeit the right to live. It doesn’t matter if you have a just reason to resist arrest, that’s not the time and place to make your case. If cops are abusing power and being tyrants there’s two ways to handle it- either take it to the system for justice, or do to them what our founding fathers did to the tyrant British. But the second course of action results in a lot of blood on both sides. You can’t resist and then get upset when resistance is met with bullets. Attacking anyone is a great way to get shot.

Thats a hard video to watch.. never want to assume I know the answers, but at the same time, there has to be a better way to handle that. Wouldn’t you want to stand in place and use less Lethal with lethal as backup?

Yeah- as I said above, that seemed dumb. I think (from my tiny contextual perspective) It would have been good to use it as a chance to calm everything down and wait to get the situation in control. He might have had issue with the fact that he was against the door from which help was to come... who knows.

Gotta be “that guy.” ? Its fair to question what led to the issue, but the video shows a cop within his rights with a hostile suspect/criminal (criminal for fighting a cop at very least). On the one hand, I agree that it’s good he didn’t pull the gun. On the other, there’s a super plausible alternate ending to this where cop gets beaten to death by this behemoth of a man because the non-lethal didn’t do squat and he wasn’t ready with the lethal. Glad both parties emerged fine, but I don’t think it’s a great idea for cops to go mano-e-mano with guys who look like they’ve had craps bigger than the cop.

I think the cop should have waited for backup, but he was sitting on the ground after already having fought with the cop, and then when the cop told him to get on his stomach (so he can put cuffs on him and end the confrontation) he refused and sat there. That's when he got tazed. Cop didn't do anything "wrong," but thinking a taser was gonna do the trick, and not letting him sit there until he had backup was just a dumb move. In other news, that tiny cop is a straight G for taking on that much man and seemingly surviving....
