  1. This is a good point. We as a society don't assess each situation for what it is. We like to label and explain away before we even know what we're referring to. We've traded the pursuit of truth with a passion to keep our framed version of reality un-impinged. It's easy to cry "Old white man" when it comes to Polian, but I think the emphasis is on old, and not white. Lamar was a huge question mark at QB coming out, and it was no guarantee he'd be able to play the position. There was no question that he was a generational athlete. The idea of switching to WR can be pretty easily explained away as "he's too valuable not to use, but he's not going to be an NFL QB." Polian, and the old guard, couldn't see how a team could commit to the College based offense needed for Lamar to thrive. I don't know (unless I'm missing something of what was said) that his comments can be inferred as racist, more ignorant/dinosaur.
  2. that's a dream come true... Marcia running the option right into Ed Oliver. Be still my heart.
  3. It isn't a good look because it's not necessary, and it's opening the door to a conversation thread that isn't beneficial- obviously. It can be taken as offensive, as it was. It shouldn't be, and I'm not personally upset he said that, but his job did suffer, and he did get backlash. So for the sake of his career, it would have been wise to leave it off.
  4. I would love to hear current players takes on this. If it is a factor, you would have to assume it’s well known in lockerrooms?
  5. Same. I doubt it does make much difference because (and this I do remember from playing) if you’re biting on the fake, it’s usually cause you want the ball to be going to the back- not cause you don’t see it. I wonder how many times guys just don’t see the ball vs. they see what they want to see... it’s an interesting question.
  6. The guy was in two of the most prolific offenses of the past 20 years and produced less than Cole Beasley has in our offense. I’d take him as a 3rd or 4th option, but nothing like what he’s getting paid now. McD won that trade. (Except for blowing the pick)
  7. You can’t argue that the uniform aids the camouflaging of the ball and skin tone of the arm holding the ball doesn’t help as well. They’re both background objects on the ball, both creating contrast or blend. Maybe every black player does have a minuscule advantage over white players. I didn’t play enough football to answer that question- it’d Be interesting to hear actual football players comment on that. That being said, he didn’t say that was why Lamar is so dangerous. He mentioned it as a part of a list of several things that inhibited the overall ability to see the ball. The rain and gloominess of the day were certainly one of the main factors (and Lamar’s insane skills with ball handling) but in the context of the background of a player affecting the visibility of the ball, then yes- it seems obvious that less contrast = less visibility. Again, who knows if that makes a practical difference.
  8. What, they dress like ***** and then play like it? That’s working great for them! This whole thing is stupid. He shouldn’t have said that for his own sake- not cause it’s wrong, but cause it’s not a good look. What he said was factual, and not derogatory, some people will bend over backwards to find racism wherever they can. All that being equal, it sounds like he was discussing a legitimate football topic and said something silly without thinking through how it might be taken. If it’s in a bar with your best buddies, nobody thinks twice cause it isn’t about his race, it’s about the way the ball is viewed (or, not viewed) from the eyes of the defender. On radio, it’s gonna get some pushback. At the end of the day, Lamar has dark skin. He’s great at a play fake. Dark colors blend in better with dark colors. I’m glad they’re wearing white this weekend.
  9. That is both interesting and sad. Don’t see any other upgrade available. Why is kicking so bad these days?
  10. Honestly, offensive line play is bad all over the place. If we have something that works, I don’t see breaking it up. Especially since we have the money.
  11. A team that has 1 more win than us. Besides, I would argue that how hot they have been is a potential downfall for them. I’m not saying we will win, but this board leans negative (probably rightfully so due to history) and there’s really no reason this isn’t a completely competitive matchup from the outset. The 7-4 Texans just beat the 10-1 patriots. It’s all relative.
  12. Obviously not. Now, change the question to this: if Bills and Panthers game we’re both open in this coming offseason, which would be a more desirable position? The answer seems obvious to be Buffalo.
  13. I guess they need people to tune in, not just watch after on Twitter. i personally don’t have NFLN (I don’t even have tv) but if I did, I would probably watch the heck out of this show till the wife poisoned my coffee... ?
  14. The majority picking under 50%. The same group of people who would have argued the same about the Cowboys, and were seriously worried about the Broncos. Bills fans gonna Bills fan. The question is slightly deceptive. If it’s what percentage that we have a chance- 100%. If it’s percentage/confidence level that we will win, I’m at 50%.
  15. I had that feeling with Miami. With Dallas I had a weird little belief that something unexpected was gonna happen.. I have that today as well. Bills by 10. Oh look, a wild nerd pretending to know about sports.
  16. What. Are you kidding me? Im not going to argue the validity of Baldingers take, and I’m not going to argue about Ford’s overall pass protection. I am going to argue for reading comprehension... “...@codyford had another outstanding performance on thanksgiving. He(they) is reaching another level of consistency in pass protection.” You can argue that his interpretation of the tape is bad, but saying “I don’t see anything specific to Ford’s pass blocking” is idiotic.
  17. Nah, he was complementing his pass protection. https://mobile.twitter.com/BaldyNFL/status/1200910082655084544
  18. Any chance we bring him back with H$'s struggles? UPDATE: Looks like we took a shot at him... Kinda sucks to lose him to a team that isn't going to need a kicker for the playoff run. I wonder what this means for H$'s future here- probably not good for it, that's for sure.
  19. I thought this was a decent breakdown, but some of the examples were just wrong... He referenced the shot to Foster as one of his worst passes, and while it wasn't a great pass, it wasn't a "bad" pass in that it was a typical 50-50 ball, just under-thrown... He also said something about how Allen should have chosen a different target, but the gif he shows clearly shows all the other receivers blanketed.
  20. Same. I think Spain has been one of the unsung heroes of this team and I don't see any reason not to sign him. I would keep Dawkins, Spain, More, and Feliciano and then figure RT out - whether or not that can be Ford.
  21. Especially against the one of the best pass rushing teams in the league. The last two games have been against elite competition and we've heard mixed reviews about ford. I'm fine waiting to a bit longer before deciding his fate for next year.
  22. If his entire take was: "while they're playing well the past three games, I need to see more before I'll be convinced they've figured things out." and left it at that, it'd be a good take. Going into detail revealed that he's just wrong and coming from a place that lacks knowledge.
  23. Brian Balldinger said the exact opposite about Ford... Not sure whose take is more accurate. Also, I'm not okay letting Spain walk just to try Ford at guard. I don't care what his pedigree is.
  24. This doesn't speak to his capacity as a football coach, but I found this to be a very enjoyable tweet regarding RR as a man:
