  1. Yes. Torpedo. They aren’t picking in the first round for like 5 years. They have negative cap room, are saddled with huge contracts that aren’t justifiable, and they have other players of import that they cannot sign because of that. They are the number 1 example of how not to build a team. Losing a super bowl is failure. Getting humiliated in the Super Bowl and having your “historic” offense put up 3 points is an embarrassing failure. Team building success is based on winning the Super Bowl. There’s no participation trophy. They shot their shot and missed. Now they’re up against the grind to keep their window open. The Example of the Bills doesn’t work at all because them losing the Super Bowl next year, with a core of young players, plenty of money, and a thick roster would prove they were on their way to the top of the mountain. The Rams sold out to get there and fell short. Now they’re reeling to cling to any hope they have of not fading into nothing. Totally different situation.
  2. One of those 5th or 6th picks should have Michael Turks name on it. Please!
  3. That’s where my brain is at too. Grab Mimms or the like at 34, an Edge like Weaver from Boise at 44 and then use 54 for a corner or something along those lines. Hang on. I want to be really clear here: Your argument here is that a team is correct to torpedo their future for one year of success where success is defined as a Super Bowl Loss?...
  4. Trading up for a QB is a very different conversation. That being said, Goff is not a great example of a team succeeding in that area. He’s holding them back a lot right now. My reference to the Rams has more to do with their constant trading of draft assets to add guys to be able to “win now” which has resulted in an embarrassing SB loss last year, missing the playoffs this year, and having no cap and no picks to do anything to fix their massive holes throughout their roster.
  5. Those teams are perennial contenders because they don’t sell out for one season of success! They’re always looking 5 years down the road and preparing for what’s coming! You’re saying we’re trying to get to their level while advocating doing the exact opposite of what they have done to get them to that level!
  6. Well, you got me with logic. We should definitely mortgage future assets haphazardly in order to win the division now. Just ask the Rams. It’s not about this season. It’s about a window of 5 seasons where we’re always competing. The only way to do that is wise use of draft capital to consistently build the team and create depth. But If you prefer to piss away capital to acquire marginally better talent, then by all means, you do you. In fact, you probably have a strong future as Bill O’Brians Executive Assistant.
  7. Nah. I’m good. I hate trading up for anyone who isn’t a QB- especially where next years assets are involved. That being said, it doesn’t even make sense in this context because of the positional breakdown you’re suggesting. Say we trade back into the first somewhere between 29-32. The players we could take there are not that much better than ones we could get at 54, or with a slight trade up from there. There’s 3 top tier edge rushers, and maybe 5 top tier tackles (depending on who you ask). They’ll likely all be gone before 22, let alone 30.
  8. And he’s holding onto that leverage almost as much as he holds on to defensive players... Really pisses me off we lost to the human ego that is BOB. Felt nice to see him get his ass kicked by KC though.
  9. they have to do it! You can’t trade your future for a guy and then not pay him. All of the people running that organization are stupid. All one of them.
  10. kinda hard to say. Those three inches could have a lot to do with contact balance and overall agility. Henry is a unique dude. No reason Dillon can’t be similar, but Derek Henry’s are few and far between.
  11. Obscene amount of money (good for him) but I'm glad he stayed put... ESPN is a joke lately and would be a waste of Romo.
  12. Seems like a really good kid too. Cover 1 had some stuff on him that showed his growth mentality and desire to improve- very processed. I have him pegged in the 5th, but who knows if he moves up.
  13. Robert Quinn would be the kind of signing that allows us flexibility in the draft. If someone we love is waiting for us early, we take him to be the future after Hughes and Quinn. If we wait till later rounds, we’ve still done a decent job to boost our EDGE presence.
  14. I mean, what a time to be alive? The 5th-10th guys in this draft at WR would be the 1-5 in almost any other draft. All aboard the Claypool express.
  15. All the mocks dating back to september haven't known what to do with him. Some projected him as a first round pick, some are still saying he's a late round guy... I have no clue. I like him anywhere, but I don't know if he ends up a first rounder.
  16. Even more so when you factor in him coming out and saying he was looking forward to playing ST's in the NFL.
  17. Long would have been a top 2 or 3 lineman on their team last year.... Ah Jets.
  18. I have fallen in love with so many Wr's this year I don't even know who I want... Not a bad problem to have, but murder on the mental mock draft I play with starting in January.
  19. He's either scared, or got some real bad advice.... DAMN CLAYPOOL!
  20. Jets gonna Jet. spend a bunch of money in FA, cut third rounders.
  21. Yup. How many guys know for certain they're a top 5 pick before the CFB season ends and don't have to waste time/risk injury training for stuff they'll never use again.
  22. My understanding is that he’s a speed guy who struggles with drops. A good player but probably overshadowed by Ruggs?
