The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
whatdrought replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Nope. But that has nothing to do with the virus. Constitutional rights (actual ones, not those imagined and made up by the Supreme Court unilaterally) cannot be violated by the Government and the governmental actors because the government is not above the constitution. The constitution is above the government. It is the highest authority in this land. -

And I believe that all tyrants lives should be reasonably restricted to combat the abuse of constitutional rights. -

So when field trips at the mental health facilities got canceled, they decided to compensate by giving the residents internet access? -
No. They’re not. Diggs is definitely better. And the bills did not overpay. A ***** gm giving away a top 5 WR for nothing, and a concussion prone WR on his 4th team in like 6 years getting dealt for cheap does not prove that the bills overpaid for a very very good WR.

With the 103rd Pick, the Philadelphia Eagles select, Devin Duvernay, WR from Texas. We’ve done a huge job shoring up our defense, and now we need weapons for Wentz. We have JAW’s (hopefully healthy and able to produce) as our X replacement for Jeffery, we have Greg Ward as a slot. Duvernay gives us a speed threat and deep ball runner while also adding some versatility ala Debo Samuel. Probably a bit early for him, but there’s been a bit of a run and I value the speed here. Our top 3: Patrick Queen, LB, LSU Jeremy Chinn, S, Southern Illinois Devin Duvernay, WR, Texas Not a bad haul if I do say so. That would put @Paulus and the bad logo Rams on the board. As for the pace of the draft, I apologize if I’ve slown anything down- it’s actually harder for me being out of the office these days as I’m less plugged in, also, I was helping my parents move all weekend which was a very time consuming deal! If we do another I’ll try to be more plugged in!

The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19

Yeah, Italy was the perfect storm. That's the problems with the assumptions that are naturally built into the models. Sprinkle in a little bit of Media hyperbole and It's beginning to look like the whole thing was overblown- as many of us expected to begin with. But alas, the media is doubling down, and saying the only reason we're doing decently is because of the measures taken... It seems like a hard sell. We're still a ways away from seeing how it all shapes out though. -

Yep. I have heard from countless people who believe they have had it in the past, even before it was well spread... Obviously that's anecdotal and are likely just people being people, but I do wonder sometimes if It's far more widespread than we have any clue of right now... Specifically when we think about the asymptomatic numbers. It will be interesting to see. -

I don't disagree. But we need caution on both sides of the spectrum. The idea that millions would be killed without shutting down the country is obviously reason to shut down the country. But when the models showing that crazy high number are based on assumptions, we have to look past the shock factor and ask if the damage to the economy is worth the risk of defending against a model that has some serious flaws. Those flaws are now being revealed, and I think it's a hard sell to say that social distancing is what caused the models to be that wrong. That, however, will be the lasting debate: Were the models wrong from the jump, or did we avoid the true weight of it? I guess that's a matter of what you thought initially. -

"Evolving inputs will show evolving results" is all well and good, but from day one you have to make assumptions based on missing data variables. How and what you assume determines how the model will result. As for the second line, an appeal to emotion doesn't change hard numbers and data. We can be sympathetic of those suffering while still questioning the numbers in an unemotional way. I'm shocked and stunned. Narratives aint gonna push themselves. -

You make a valid point, and maybe the modelers aren’t the problem when they assume the unknowns in a way that pushes the models several degrees of severity above what reality is showing, but those that take the models and create fear, panic, and public policy would be better off remembering how many unfounded assumptions are built into the models. -

cant help but wonder if his body was built in a way that invited injuries. See it a lot with guys building past what their natural frame can support and ending up having their body breakdown. (Especially with a violent play style) -

And there’s only one cause of death in the world right now... Quick question: if I shoot my neighbor for not returning my string trimmer, at trial can I say he died of rona? That’s air tight, right? -
Welp, I don’t like passing on WR again, but the board is not falling my way and the guy I nearly took in the first is still available. With the 53rd pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Eagles select Jeremy Chinn, S, Southern Illinois. Flashes of Cam Chancellor right here. We moved on from Malcom Jenkins, but Chinn is the perfect chess piece to move around in his spot. WR needs to be addressed, but without trades I have to take whose there. Give me a decent defense that has added: Hargrave, Slay, Robey-Coleman, Queen, and a Chinn and it’ll be great!

The problem is that we’re building public and social policy on said models that are being revealed as very inaccurate. -

President of his own fan club? Plenty of times. President of the idiots united clubhouse that meets to synchronize their messaging for PPP? Never. He would have tied for first with the 20 other candidates who also voted for themselves, but someone logged in under their second account and doubled their vote tally. -

That’d be more reason to get him... let two alphas spend all offseason making each other better. -
Thought about Mims, but he feels duplicative with JAWs and id rather get Reager or Hamler in the 2nd.
