What Do We Do Now About Our Government?

I know that it pained you greatly to make that statement. Have a cookie. -

This is where we are at now in terms of your statement about firings being useless deterrents. It's almost like for some an early retirement. Your man Obama assured us prior to the 2016 election that literally altering votes at the town halls was impossible. Are you saying that he is a mere mortal subject to poor judgement like the rest of us? As to your last sentence that is projection by you plain and simple. Let us all assume the fetal position in recognition of Obama being wrong. -

Examples let people know where you stand and is the major reason that they are used to expand upon general concepts. No harm in examples and in this case examples from both sides of the aisle create an air of impartiality. If you have taken any college level writing courses and made statements as you did the grader of your paper might write in the margins of your work "examples?" or "expand on your thoughts" or some similar statement. -

In all seriousness the death penalty should be an option and not the painless kind. The gallows and the chair should be available for use in execution. What is absolutely imperative is not to turn it into a public spectacle such as it was in revolutionary France. Execute the convicted party in front of a small group of witnesses and then make the announcement to the media that the sentence is now fulfilled. Public executions would only breed blood lust which invites abuses of the system. -

Then for the purpose of making your thread more universal the subjects of Bush, Obama, and whoever else should have been broached in your last statement. It's never wise to leave things open to interpretation if there is a specific message that you are trying to get out. -

And with that statement the intellectual dishonesty rises to the surface as to the purpose of this thread. Just trying to lead the ignorant masses into "Trump did something wrong and we need to make the fools in the USA see it" are we JA? -

A good idea but I wonder how much is negated by modern communications? -

2. Elect people who respect and obey the rule of law. So much easier to say than to actually accomplish. If we are going to attempt to remedy in this regard then it has to be addressed in the schools. It only takes a single classroom session to teach kids to place a condom on a banana so the rest of the year should be free to teach civics. Not the civics of one party is always right and one party is always wrong. But the civics that says misconduct and specifically corruption has consequences. By the time kids hit high school they often have half year electives that they can take. Lets mandate that they take at least one half year civics course for EACH of the four years they are in high school so the dust is not too thick when they graduate. -

Steep penalties. While term limits makes us feel good the crooks will respond by getting their objectives accomplished in a shorter time period. The problem with steep penalties is frame ups to get rid of political opponents such as we see now. Long term I don't see an answer as morality and honesty cannot be legislated in terms of how the individual conducts himself. Yes, we can pass laws intended guide all citizens but we cannot be there all the time to see if each and every politician is adhering to those laws and is not practicing misconduct in secret. Probably why I see this nation heading into dark times ahead. -

That's not very nice of you Ivan. Also, labeling people as inferior to you is a poor self esteem tool. It would be better to educate yourself then you would not feel so threatened as you would better understand what is going on around you. Hope this has helped you!

Should we call you Ivan?

In all likelihood these nitwits are paid to post on here to keep that narrative alive.

Now that you mention it.............. Really noticeable when he is angry.

I remember it back in September but did not think to note it. Given that none of the people associated with the franchise are getting younger this thread will get dusted off every now and then. Shatner just divorced wife number 4 by the way which is not the same thing but still news. Passage of his most recent marriage if you will.

If you ever write an autobiography I suggest that you label the title "Clueless."

I would not rule Hillary out and no doubt she has a new bag of dirty tricks ready to use. -
Being that a NFL game is copyrighted material I doubt that any obvious recording effort from the stands would go unchallenged. At the very least if security thought it was some clown trying to pirate a game for reasons unknown that person would most likely be escorted out of the stadium and the material confiscated.

Most of it I would attribute to his less than leading man looks. At least he did not implode unlike members of his own family and other actors who can't handle the stresses of the profession. For the most part he seems to have lived a well adjusted life after his acting career tapered off. Your fellow Canadian the great John Colicos once observed what amounts to if life hands you lemons then you make lemon aid. Which is to say he never let his self observed lack of leading man looks deter his passion for acting. He played villains often and was great doing it. Just in the last week one his greatest efforts aired with him playing the first Klingon on ST.

I saw the MASH movie back in the mid-1970's on television and while I remember Father Mulcahy I never put the same actor together with his work on Benson and other projects until much later in time. This is a compliment to the actor as he can change gears effortlessly and still deliver quality performances. Contrast this with Jack Nicholson who takes the mantra "make the character your own" way too seriously. While we are talking DS9 I have a similar observation for Auberjonois' co-star Andrew Robinson who played the Scorpio character in the first Dirty Harry movie among other roles. So good as Garak and used just sparingly enough that a viewer always waited anxiously for his next appearance in anticipation of what he would do which is good drama.
