  1. Am I speaking to you, Tiberius? Cuomo could be made to look like a dictator without the Adolf Hitler imagery. Was not the second image that you posted proven to be false?
  2. Communists are not automatically associated with being systemic murderers like the Nazi's were. Take Meathead Stivic from All in the Family. He is pretty much a communist but one that would rather tax the rich to the point where everybody winds up with the same amount of wealth. No such analogy exists for any Nazi.
  3. I am in part but I just wanted to be clear that I saw broader issues as well.
  4. The issue is broader than a few morons on a chat site. In my mind part of the reason the real Nazi's came to power is people failed to take their movement seriously. That Hitler and his ilk would have been tossed aside after a couple of years but that tragically never was the case. I would hate to see the door ever opened here because people failed to comprehend the personalities and the movement. It should be laughable that a supposed far right dictator allows complete freedom of the press but there are gullible people out there eating it with a shovel instead of a spoon. It's just very hard to ignore it when the real Nazi's were very insidious among other things.
  5. Simply put and I am tired of it. You want to say that Trump is a white supremacist? Then go ahead and make your point and be done with it. I will not agree with it but you will have had your say. To compare anybody that you dislike to a Nazi or Gestapo figure makes light of the things that happened in Europe during the 1930's and 1940's. My family actually suffered at the hands of the Nazi's including murder. Such as being led to the edge of town and being machine gunned into a freshly dug pit. A fate that did not solely rest with Jews but anybody who resisted the Nazi's including paying unreasonable taxes to a movement that they did not believe in.
  6. Feeding your own paranoia? Do you fantasize about a cop's baton stuck in your nether regions?
  7. You liberals have the dumbest political cartoons.
  8. Hate is learned. I only had to think back to my grade school years and the people I encountered. If a kid hated the cops chances are they learned from someone in their home. Homes rife with issues such as alcoholism, drug abuse, domestic violence, stolen property, etc..
  9. Not at all. There is impeachment where it is legitimate to use it. We do not have office holders for life in the US other than being endlessly re-elected.
  10. Project much? - Billslime Not at all. As a matter of fact my family suffered losses at the hands of the Nazi's. Which is why I want elections that the results can be seen by representatives of all parties that participate. Which is why I want a means through an armed general population where tyrants can be limited in their actions until they are disposed of or voted out. Which is why I don't want people stripped of their wealth solely based on their background.
  11. Or as Roger Kimball writes: It Doesn’t End Well. I wonder what a typical Sunday afternoon is like for Billslime? Soaking his swastika armband in Woollite while listening to Wagner?
  12. You are for shadowy election procedures. You are for disarming the public at large. You are for the selective confiscation of wealth. You are a Nazi!
  13. Like has been said Trump wished Maxwell well in that she should be long lived to testify against those involved in the pedophile ring. It's NOT because he wishes to resurrect that ring or become its leader which is some fantasy that you live in.
  14. Some people truly make bad choices but some only have so much gas in the tank intellectually. I am not going to hate the person who simply cannot grasp advanced science or math and lacks the stamina to swing a hammer 8 hours a day. At the same time I am not going to feel sorry for the person who will not goes as far as stocking the shelves at Walgreens or dumps 100 plus dollars per week at the local tavern.
  15. I guess that I would counter that the US economy was perhaps at its strongest for a few decades after WWII providing a potent taxable income base to repay debt. Nearly all sectors were undergoing growth never seen in the history of the world. Predatory lending was limited to the back alleys of the cities. Today many millions could see financial devastation over a short time period if certain sectors of the economy stall out. Rather odd that the conservative namely me is making pretty much a non-data connected argument but here I am. I would prefer that we keep using capitalism even with its imperfections but we have a very motivated group of people trying to push it aside in a Presidential Election Year. And yes the fallout from the pandemic might prove to be key if many businesses see AI as the hedge they need against future potential losses due to employees not being available for work. I honestly think that the world is in greater flux than a lot of people tend to think.
  16. Never paid any attention to this thread before now. Molly Ivans never met a doughnut that she disliked.
  17. How old are you?
  18. It boils down if AI will improve the bottomline of a business then that business will acquire it. I don't see a barrier. Business people are about profit and if they can improve profit then they will implement whatever is needed. If factory robots were available such as what automobile manufacturers use today in the 19th Century then the Captains of Industry such as Carnegie, McCormick, etc. would have used them to replace human labor. I doubt that most of the business world ever sweat the loss of human labor when automation pushed it out the door.
  19. Do you question a timeline for acceptance or do you feel a barrier will form concerning the more prestigious jobs in society. Cost will be the driver whether it be a law firm or a McDonald's store. Many business people are no doubt already pondering the fallout from the pandemic in terms of employee availability for work.
  20. Law, medicine, engineering, etc.. Why pay an employee a six figure salary for decades on end when most likely you will be able to purchase AI for considerably less. I don't see one company holding patents to the point where they can hold the world hostage price-wise and patents are not a forever thing. For a dated show Buck Rodgers in the 25th Century (1979) pointed to the possibility of AI holding important positions in society.
  21. I'm concerned that in some industries such as food service the return will only be temporary. Other than elite eateries restaurants need full occupancy at key hours to survive. This is not happening in many cities. Allied industries such as dairy farming have been hurt badly and the future looks bleak once their bailout money ceases to come. At some point the 52 million along with the give and take on employment will need to have their feet firmly planted under them financially to purchase automobiles and pay their credit cards. If this fails to happen the auto mobile industry will be seriously hurt and credit card companies will push many to usury rates to maintain their profits. As far as govt stimulus' go we may be at a fork in the road. Some will be concerned that we will soon reach a point where debt may not be paid off in full in our lifetimes. Which will get some thinking if we will never pay off the debt entirely and yet take on more does debt really matter? Do we reach a point where in order to stave off social collapse we keep adding debt by the tens of trillions? Do the people who are around at that point really care and do we uncouple from the notion of having incentive to work or pay taxes because the govt will make up the difference. Will people continue to lead and produce if everybody at the end of the day gets the same. Is like some say in that we have been playing a real life Monopoly game and it is time to start over as it is obvious as to who the winners and losers were from the last game.
  22. If you believe this is a control measure by a group with an agenda as many do then you believe that a vaccine and a path to normalcy will most likely never happen. I know that you asked to leave politics out of it but I believe that is impossible.
  23. I did not play and probably the biggest reason is competitive sports at the beginning level - sandlot games. There was always a lot of bickering and finger pointing. Not at me very often but the last straw was being told who I could be friends with based on the outcome of the game. Slow forward to high school and I was very uncoordinated physically my freshman year so nobody was seeking me out to play sports. Come junior year I was ahead of most of the guys in terms of speed and physical force. At that point as it was with many schools it was all about the kids of the town's elite getting spots on varsity. Had I more encouragement at the beginning In might have worked harder in the years leading up to high school so I might have had more recognition and been harder to ignore by coaches. As it was when we did track or football for gym and had a good outing not once did the gym teachers who also coached sports ever ask me about playing. A few kids asked me about football but honestly it was not enough as a fair amount of kids that I disliked or they disliked me were already on the squad. I might have thought about Div 3 football in college but it seemed like it boiled down to the love of the game which in the end I just did not have enough of. My interest in sports went pretty much dormant from the age of 8-9 until I was in my early 20's. I watched the Bills of the mid-1980's just to take my mind off of dismal things like being on academic probation while at college. So as the Bills went during the 1980's oddly enough so did my life.
