In our own history that would be Todd Collins. But that being said there are different types of malfunction when it comes to the lack of leadership.

Making the playoffs vs having a high draft pick
RochesterRob replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm a long view or long term type of guy. Droughts happen and I don't worry about smart aleck sports media personalities or night time comedians ragging on my team. I would have preferred tanking this season and been in the top 6 for the draft. When the turn around happens those same blow holes will be jumping on the bandwagon anyways. -
Would you rather have a manager like Rex or Marrone?
RochesterRob replied to Another Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I expect the AFC South to be appreciably better than last year so Marrone will not have quite as easy. -
In the scenario that some have proposed with Cleveland taking a QB with pick number 1 there is nothing stopping them from trading from 4 up to 2 if they covet Barkley. Unless the Giants feel the Colts will scoop their guy there is tremendous appeal in picking up an additional pick and/or player and only dropping two spots. That might also have more appeal for the Giants versus dropping to 7 or 8 which some here proposed as a swing spot for the Bills. There is obviously many reasons why the draft does not unfold to many observers expectations but looking at it through rose colored Bills glasses does not help. Personally, I think the Browns take Barkley at 1 but then again it does not matter what I think as I don't control any NFL FO.

I could see Barkley at 1, the Giants trade down to 4 with Cleveland, the Colts take Chubb, and then at 4 the Giants take Nelson.

M. Rudolph. Would he make it to 53?

It would not surprise me that now with the combine gone that the whole group of QB's will be seen in a more realistic light in terms of the NFL. For the Bills that might mean more options outside of the top 10 in the draft order. -

Former NFL or Bills employees for the most part have had their information pipeline broken when they left their job so they don't have juicy bits of information to pass on. I would agree that 99 percent of the people here pretty much are limited to opinions but in some cases well crafted opinions. -

I don't know why people think that because they come on here and have a fit that our FO cares about them having a fit. Our front office is paid to do their job to the best of their ability. They are not required to share any proprietary information as to how they feel about prospects or trades. They are not obligated to make decisions based on the whims expressed here. -

We don't know what they will get and maybe for a change we have an OC who knows how to utilize a player's strength. -

I don't know. I think there are some pretty intelligent people here. if this is like the old BBMB I would suspect there are a few former NFL people on here including former Bills employees. I would readily concede if I got the GM's job today I would have a heck of a lot to learn about doing it. -

And most of us do not have a realistic idea as to what the cost will be to move up into the top 4. Three firsts and three seconds from where the Bills sit in the order would be my guess with maybe some fine tuning and sweetening. In the end if a trade was proposed and was rejected we may never learn the details of it. -

You are absolutely correct. Some people have no clue as to running an NFL team. -
Strictly guessing but I would say that there are easily a dozen evaluation systems out there among the 32 teams so there definitely is a chance for variability in the final grade on a prospect.
-
I think that this is worst case scenario for the Browns to take QB at 1 but I still believe it begins with Barkley for them.
-
Well, yes you don't pull a Matt Millen and draft the same position at the top year after year. But most teams most of the time don't have a problem where BPA is a position where they are already well stocked at. And since a prospect can be scooped a pick or two ahead they no doubt have a plan B and plan C ready to go. When you throw those names around it is a subjective argument. What if the Bills did not have either Watson or Mahomes graded close to the slot where they were taken? What if one of the names we fans covet only carries a grade that is 15 slots below where we project him. I get the notion when in doubt take a QB a little higher than projected but there is such a thing as taking that concept too far.
-
In a normal year yes. But the way things are shaping up with the top 3 QB's likely to go at the very top of the draft changes things. The current teams at the top of the draft order will rightly seek a premium on top of normal value for a trade up. It's supply and demand at its most basic.
-
Because it will require at least 3 number 1's and most likely 3 number 2's to get the Bills up into the top 4 to make a selection. That is where at least 2 or 3 of the top QB's will most likely go. There all kinds of downside to a trade such as this. People need to start using their heads and stop thinking the Colts or Giants are going to do a trade with us that involves iffy players, low round picks, and belly button lint from Bruce Smith.
-
And the cost for Cleveland to go from 4 to 2 is minimal as long as the Giants are willing to trade. I honestly think the Browns take Barkely at 1.
-
Let's not get carried away here. I like picks as much as anybody but usually comps start at the end of the third round where there most definitely is no sure thing. There is something to be said for signing known quantities. Hopefully, our FO is squared away in terms of figuring it out.

Would you trade Hughes+picks to Giants for 2nd?
RochesterRob replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In the scheme of things the OP's proposed trade amounts to offering a bag of magic beans for the farm only in this instance the beans are only good for a bad session in the bathroom. No way the Giants would consider that trade.
