Which leads us back to the issue in that neither Rosen nor Darnold and down the line are guaranteed to be a sure fire success. Philly traded up from 8 so that just reinforces the notion to me that it will cost us three 1st's and three 2nd's and most likely more to go up to 2. That's assuming that Cleveland does not feel that upsets their plans and they in turn take their QB at 1 and come up behind us to trade with Indy to get Barkley at 3. At that point we may have egg on our face if Cleveland takes the guy we may rate substantially higher than the other QB prospects. Giving away the top half of the draft two years running will cripple this franchise even if we hit on a few FA's. Lastly, the guys saying that they will cut the Bills some slack for mortgaging the future will be nowhere to be found when this gamble fails. They will be back under a new account brandishing torches and pitchforks at the gates of OBD and saying how they knew this whole thing was destined to fail.

Report: Cousins to Vikings 27 Million per
RochesterRob replied to PauleeeWalnuts's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would not be surprised especially if the state income tax situation is as favorable as has been reported for him to go to Minnesota. If Cousins is truly counting in terms of after tax money then teams such as ourselves would have to go considerably passed 27M to garner the same effect. Yay New York taxes! -
Philly deadline to get under the cap: Nick Foles
RochesterRob replied to IgotBILLStopay's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Philly has got cap issues and might find the best way out is another backup with a smaller contract. Even if the backup has to start the first quarter of the season. Who knows but no fanboy logic with me. -

I am a little skeptical about Luck's recovery and a small part of me makes me think that was in part why McDaniels did a 180 back to NE. Also, Luck gets to play 8 games in a dome along with a game in Houston (dome), Tennessee, and Jacksonville which are sites that usually do not have adverse weather. I don't know if Luck can deliver his normal stats in the AFC East and inter-conferenece games with the NFCE and NFCN. -

Philly is over the cap and needs to get under it within a matter of days. With the number of quality players they have doing something with Foles may not be something they can put off for weeks. -

If it does and I don't doubt it the cost to move up for the Bills will be steep. -

Further, I think that the whole idea if Foles did come it would because Daboll thinks he can modify an offense to suit Foles' strengths. -

At this point conventional "wisdom" says that Denver and NYJ should each grab a QB when their turn comes up if not jump up a couple of spots if they think somebody will scoop their guy. The trouble is none us here has access to each team's info to know just how much they covet each prospect. It still could come down to Denver, NYJ, and somebody like the Giants deciding one of the QB's is just too good to pass up regardless of having Eli which will put pressure on the demand side of supply and demand pushing the price up considerably. -

The only way that trade works is if at least two of the Fab 4 appear to be sliding down below pick 6 and maybe down to 14 or 15. In that case more teams will choose to conserve picks for a player who might be just slightly lesser in their minds than one who may go 2-4. With some of the post senior season luster gone and a chance for teams to poke and prod at the combine it is looking like there is a better chance that the top QB's will not cluster at the top of the draft. -
Buffalo to jump on cap casualty players?

Jordy Nelson in 2018 is not the same player he was just a few years ago. I like him but he would not be my first option. -
SPECULATION: Here comes QB Derek Anderson
RochesterRob replied to BadLandsMeanie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This makes a lot of sense but again I have a feeling Cousins might come to us even though we don't feel it likely at the present. -
Seriously? They will do one or the other if any but not both as you propose. I am still not convinced that they will not try free agency to get their man. Whether the more extreme fans out there will accept that is another matter.
-
Yep. I wish to extend my thanks and hope he takes Cleveland far next year. Just as long as it does not interfere with the Bills ascension.
-
And a rookie as some are calling for is going to achieve miracles with the same talent more or less?
-
Seriously? Obtaining players like Suh would do that. They most likely highly value Tyrod in their system.
-
I'm thinking that getting Cousins is not as quite a dead notion as some here think. He has not signed with the Vikings yet.
-
I don't see how it is automatic that the Bills are trading into the top 4. Did OBD make an announcement to that effect?
-
Hopefully, getting Cousins in a deal weighted heavy in 2019 in terms of compensation. I don't like his price tag but we can handle it over the next three years if we have to.
-
Yes, I do agree with you. With the amount of picks Cleveland has why chance somebody falling to 4 if you have a guy graded substantially above the others? I would be worried about the quality of these QB's if other teams were kind of "meh" about moving up themselves. It's either one of more of these guys are really good and teams will offer vast riches to move up to get them or these guys are seen as being flawed and if a top 5 team bites on a small trade package then fine otherwise they wait for these prospects to fall and acquire them for far less capital.
-
When you have to hope that the other guy will do something stupid or at least not serve his own interest then your idea does not have a whole lot of validity. If Cleveland has a QB they feel strongly about and the Giants are open to a trade then the Browns will move up so as not to lose him. Also, people have to stop at looking at all 1st round picks being equal as though the Bills own 1st is equal to the Dolphins, Raiders, etc. If Miami starts gathering serious capital for a trade then we are in a position where we have to throw a wheelbarrow full of picks (three 1st's, three 2nd's for starters) to have a chance. I do not want to give up that much capital for one player QB or otherwise.
-
That's the way I see it if there is a QB the Brown's feel very strong about.
-
Again, more speculation without quoting a specific individual. If true it means other teams are coveting the top QB prospects which makes the top draft slots more valuable. Also, any meetings are just due diligence and possible deflection from real intentions.
-
Just more owner/ GM/ HC speak which says nothing. It's not like he said he was using Jimmy Johnson's draft value guide from 1990 and the first one there gets the number 3 pick. Seriously, WNY needs a couple feet of snow to shovel to keep people from living in fantasy land 24/7. Further, Irsay did not say that the Bills were best of buddies and he would not even think of fielding an offer from another team.

Bills signings & TT trade point to trade up
RochesterRob replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The draft is anything but sure fire. They no doubt anticipate as any rational team would that not everybody makes the final cut going into the regular season. We have a lot of positions to be addressed this offseason.
