  1. Just my opinion but I think the NBA plays towards a more urban demographic while the NFL still heavily courts WASP-y middle America. A heavy dose of players with a message will turn televisions off of the NFL in quite a number of areas.
  2. And if this is true then Pegula will also consider Rosen's baggage in terms of selling tickets outside of the heavily Democratic Buffalo city limits. He will have to consider how Rosen's politics will play in Springville, Franklinville, and Wellsville to name a few podunk locales. And on a personal level I would imagine Rosen would not consider Terry's primary business which is fracking as being politically correct.
  3. Rosen is this top talent according to some here and in these same minds other teams will choose to bypass this said talent? Quite the mental gymnastics at work on this board. The Jets will not choose Rosen because of political differences with Woody Johnson? Doubtful. The world is full of people that have to work for or work with people of different political stripes. That includes bosses and subordinates. If Rosen has issues with Johnson then he will most likely have issues with WNY'ers outside of the the Buffalo and Rochester city limits.
  4. But living in denial that others may know more than those here is soothing like a warm bath on a winter evening for the so-called QB experts.
  5. He will not be the only one. The QB love here is spread over a half dozen players so expect plenty of "I'm done with this team" threads as obviously we will not take more than one. Then there will be pages of crying if the Bills stay put at 12 and go BPA which may not be a QB.
  6. Not much we can do about it if Miami wants to gamble the farm twice over. People here have the mindset that these QB's can be elite and at the same time nobody other than the Bills will have any interest in them. It does not work that way. The same with speculating about Denver. The Broncos do not have a multi-year answer at QB and if Rosen is the player that some here think he is then they would definitely think about taking him at 5 and if they have a higher regard yet then they may choose to jump a few spots to get him. People spend way too much time here living in fantasy land thinking that they can talk other teams into actions that benefit the Bills more than the other team. Saying that the Giants will do anything but QB at 2 might make some guy here feel good about life but that does nothing in the real world to control the Giants actions. There are going to be some bitterly disappointed people here come the end of next week. According to quite a few here a team keeps drafting QB until they get it right. Are these posters starting to admit that they are wrong on that theory? That you show a bust the door in short order versus giving that player a few years to show something. Again, Keenum most likely will not be a multi-year answer for the Broncos. According to some here there is not a QB prospect in view after 2018 so the Broncos had better grab one now before they head into the QB desert.
  7. We may very well take a QB but that does not mean a move up or taking one at pick 12. Anything is possible despite the wishes of anybody here.
  8. This early on it sure would be. This is why I think the FO has the leeway to do what they think is best for this spring. They get three more years from today going forward. The guys here who get off on making "fire the head coach" noise and then watch it happen might die of cardiac arrest waiting for the current regime to expire.
  9. An inferiority complex has nothing to do with it. The NFL recognizes that the players in most demand will bypass certain NFL cities they deem undesirable. Pleasant weather, low or no state income taxes, and hot bed of night life are the main things most 21-22 year old men are interested in. Competitive balance would cease to exist as players would choose NFL cities such as Miami, Tampa Bay, and Jacksonville as Florida has no personal income taxes. The same with Dallas and Houston in Texas. Then there is LA and SF although with a fairly high tax burden the night life is among the best of the NFL cities. The draft is the only way that cities such as Buffalo, Cleveland, Green Bay, etc. have an opportunity to select post graduate players in quite a number of cases. How many high level college players have a tie such as family to lure a player to a city such as Buffalo? Very few unfortunately. HIgh valued college players from WNY are pretty rare and other than Gronk I can only readily think of OT Albert and Shane Conlan.
  10. That's the thing. We don't know if the information is legit or is disinformation. Look how the lemmings here are gulping it up as confirmed fact. Sounds like a job for George Costanza. Maybe Mr Wilhelm moved along with him over to the Jets. I'm looking forward to a rework of "Meet the Mets" as sung by Wilhelm.
  11. Agree with your general thought but we should note that 6 QB's were chosen in the first round back in 1983. The AFC East along with the Chiefs each taking a QB.
  12. Not a very apt comparison. Jim Kelly was about fun (women) and sun when he was drafted and pooh-poohed Buffalo. Kelly also has cultural similarities with a wide variety of Buffalo's population. Rosen has a broader interest than being a beach party animal and a minimal cultural bond.
  13. Yep, the evaluation process is far more complex than many here think that it is. They can't look at a couple of games where the QB played a cupcake defense and proclaim that QB will be a long term fixture in the NFL.
  14. In a manner of speaking but I thought the standard was very large yet firm. She's ample but I did not think that she was quite into jugs territory.
  15. I would like it except for Rodgers being under contract through 2019. Also, for just a few million more dollars collectively from the Bills he would probably just stay in GB.
  16. A bust is so much more painful when multiple picks are used on just one player. There would be no debate if the Bills were already picking in the top 5.
  17. Yes, we do in that we get a couple dozen threads on average per day of mortgaging the future for a QB. Everybody has a right to input an opinion. If you dislike freedom of speech then maybe you should look into moving to North Korea or Iran.
  18. I feel like that I have seen this type of response before from you.
  19. QB can't hit free agency? If a guy such as Rosen feels that Buffalo is a bad taste he wants to wash out of his mouth pronto then he will only be here for his rookie deal and franchise tag year. If he sits his rookie year then you would have only have had him for four years in practicality. If he runs his mouth to the media as to how he sees Buffalo fans other than in a good light then it might not be that long. I can already see the episode where he has a run in with a bunch of fans as we are chugging to a 3-13 finish forcing a trade as the Buffalo media lambasts him. Heck, I can see him and his agent orchestrate such an incident to go to a more desired location. The trader-uppers are acting as though QB's will never be made again after 2018 or the opportunity to get one from another team will never happen. Many options out there people!
  20. It's just that easy? PLEASE submit your name as a candidate for GM to the Jets, Redskins, Bears, etc. immediately! Bounty? There are several names with positives along with negatives for QB's. It's a lot easier to roll the dice when it is one pick for one player such as it is when you finish in the top 5 in terms of draft slots.
  21. Considering that most of those names never touched a Lombardi and never will does not sweeten the argument. There have been plenty of prolific passing teams that never won a SB. BPA will often have just as good a chance to win it all as will drafting a high QB. The way some of the trader-upper's conduct themselves here I wonder if they have any friends in real life. Most people who don't let anybody else get a word in edge-wise usually lack friends.
  22. This is not directed at you but the broader subject of shutting down work outs. It just does not work like the previous poster has implied. You can't take a team at its "word" even if it is given and most likely goes against the protocol the league has with college athletes in terms of denying workouts based on who a team is. Further, I would think that a prospect's agent would be advising taking as many workouts as possible within reason in part due to a team perhaps not keeping its "word." Also, it makes the agent look bad in the future as the agent and player might be perceived as being too difficult to deal with hence a team choosing a different prospect.
  23. So it is completely impossible for McCarron to go down before Halloween with the fanbase at that point screaming for the savior? McDermott would be run out of town before the end of the year if at the press conference announcing McCarron's season ending injury that Peterman will come off the bench while the rookie sits. Actually , if Nelson fell to 12 he would be the best value by far at that slot. He is supposed to be the most sure thing in the draft even if the position he plays is not sexy. I'm not banging the drum for him but it would not be surprising if a move up was out and we could not even jump a few slots for Roquan Smith. Unless Beane is REALLY sold on one of the QB's I think that one of our 1st's goes for a MLB. I think that Beane is going to give McDermott every chance to hang on and part of that is giving McD the piece of the defense he values most.
  24. If we did not use any 2019 picks in a trade up this spring I would be OK with offering a second and maybe a 4th to a team holding a pick around 40-50 this year to draft Incog's replacement. It would not be ideal but could gain a player.
  25. Maybe but there are certainly those that believe in their mind a deal is in place because it puts them in a little happy place for a short time anyways. Whether they want to announce those thoughts to the world is another matter altogether. If I had to guess there are at least ten people here that believe a deal is already done to move up.
