  1. Expectations for me are quite low. Young MC prospect trying to find his way through life. Where have we seen that before? Television is definitely running out of ideas with this and reboot of Magnum PI. I liked the original Magnum but you need the balance that John Hillerman brought and the promos do not give much confidence that will happen. I'd rather reboot Gomer Pyle, USMC or the British Keeping Up Appearances. Anyhow, if you were ripping on Trump about stereotypes then the Mayans will do very little to alter perceptions. Sutter got paid and until the show proves otherwise that is what it is all about.
  2. I am sorry but there was too much to overlook in the third to think it could have been redeemed with a darker ending. Federal gold depository getting knocked over like it was a hamburger stand and nobody can make heads or tails of a dump truck fleet running several hours to Canada until McClane checks in with the authorities? Irons and the actress that played the girlfriend made it watchable. In a 1960's Batman adventure it was more interesting to watch the Penguin make a tank out of the gold he was stealing even though making a tank from scratch was absurd at the least. Oh well, at least the Die Hard franchise took one lesson from the 1960's Batman which is if the premise is not good then at least stock the film with a good villain and a good actor to portray him.
  3. I personally have nothing against EJ but would he want to be here and would most fans accept him? Doubtful. Sanchez? Would most people let go of the butt fumble to embrace him? Doubtful. Kaepernick? I doubt most Bills fans would take to him in light of the protests. No way. We can throw names out to extend the conversation but there are few true fits in terms of history and the willingness of fans to let by gones be by gones. Lynch is not a great player but he does not have a personal history that is a block to most Bills fans.
  4. If I am home I will have a light beer or two. The fact that I eat also during the games means I fill up to where I don't over drink. May not stay buzzed for long but I get satisfaction out of good food, too. I very seldom have mixed drinks at home if there is no company.
  5. As much as I would like to think that we do not need a third QB we do not have Jim Kelly here who was able to complete most seasons without great issue. With the uncertainty at the position in terms of health among other factors we need to carry a third so why not Lynch if he passes Beane's criteria test. Again, I would ask who is available to be a third QB at this time. Kyle Orton?
  6. A game will affect my drinking plan. Almost better to have coca-cola and rum to relax and not need to visit the piss sink during a crucial moment in a drive versus downing a couple quarts of fluid that will come calling within the hour.
  7. Kind of how I feel about most craft beers. Most taste as though they were the result of a dare to combine random ingredients found in the kitchen and garage. I will say that if you are willing to taste test quite a bit you will find your way into a very good product from time to time. As I have hinted at before in this thread that if I feel spendy on my weekly budget I am at the point I will drop an extra 20 on top notch grilling meat instead of a 6 pack (or less) of craft brew.
  8. The first one just like in most movie series is the best. You can't think too hard about the improbabilities of the second and third movies or you will just want to turn it off. What made the first three work was casting a great actor(s) as the villain(s). While I appreciate Buffalo's (Orchard Park) William Sadler I give the nod to Alan Rickman as the best villain portrayal in the series.
  9. People are seriously overreacting here. Do people really believe that the Bills are seriously going to back burner Allen in favor of Lynch? Are people really that beat down mentally from 17 years of no playoffs prior to last year? I don't care if he is brought in to be the 3rd string QB. We need a third QB and if we can PS him then all the better. People will be crying if early this season one of our 2 present QB's goes down with a long term injury and there is no backup to the survivor at that point. I don't think that Kyle Orton is coming off of the sofa this time.
  10. Where I am at lately Molson does just as good as anything else for a comparatively inexpensive beer. Heineken is a beer that is OK but to my taste palate a little skunky and has the headache issue. A fellow the next room over from me while at junior college many years ago had a 10 cu ft fridge stocked with Heineken so when he was "buying" for the floor that is what we had. I think that his dad threw him a few bucks to keep the Heineken there for an impromptu visit from dad. Really was not all that often I had to make do with piss beer.
  11. I'll drink most anything in a social situation but what I prefer when I am home by myself perhaps watching a game is an entirely different matter. Honestly, I would rather spend extra money on a good cut of meat for the grill than spend on a small pack of craft beer but that is not to say I would never buy craft beer.
  12. Glad you see it that way (a break from being tedious or constraining).
  13. Not at all and don't know why I should be considered a grease monkey. I don't have to do oil changes to make a living. I just enjoy being proficient in being able to take care of my vehicles and my home. I've got four years of accounting, finance, and economics from college under my belt including two years at Cornell. I work for myself and even though there have been lean times I prefer it to the corporate world. The last time I worked for someone else which was for a multinational corporation I found it very frustrating. I cleaned up a number of messes in another dept including doing tech support while I was there and all I ever got was being crapped upon for it. I don't miss back stabbing co-workers among other things.
  14. It sucked 30 years ago when I was a much younger man. The dates might just as well started off with the woman asking how much I had in the bank and saved two hours of pleasant but impersonal talk. If I cleared that hurdle then it was a matter that the woman was a walking train wreck. I remember a curriculum mate from college bugging me to go out with her friend who was not the least bit certain about her direction in life. I am far from uptight but a few years after being out of college a person ought to have a few things figured out about where she is heading.
  15. The wife had two Saturns and they were both good cars. The worst recent car was a 2012 Ford Focus. Agree with those about long engine life if well maintained. Just don't over look the interval change on the timing belt if so equipped. My sister might have had her Subaru go on forever if she did not miss the one service change (60K miles) on it.
  16. Today I changed the engine oil in the pickup along with the filter. Just as cheap to go to the lube shop but there is something satisfying about doing it yourself. Further, other than relying on the woman to do the filter lookup (no guide in the filter aisle) I did not have to rely on any one. I'm not so big on the home improvement stuff but am changing out the kitchen faucet, replacing the entrance way gutter, and resurrecting the television antennae complete with new pole. Doing the antennae in part to knock a little off the satellite bill and get more local selection. Got a feeling if the Bills are really bad this year I may need to pull in Buffalo television to see some games.
  17. A part of me feels like if we are 2-6 at the mid point which is very possible then we might just as well write off the balance of the season to perhaps get a top 3 pick. Then we could trade out if we thought there was more value in doing so.
  18. As to getting "screwed" by the Bills that is assuming a lot without knowing a lot of detail. The modern NFL team employs private investigators to keep an eye on problematic players. I recall this being mentioned during our SB years with players such as Bruce Smith. Our FO I would imagine was made aware of RI's increasing erraticism and accordingly hedged their bets on RI for the upcoming season. Would I do such a thing if I were in Berne's position? Probably not but maybe the whole idea was to catch Richie's attention with that move in that he needed to get his life in order.
  19. You're right and that point was just made recently. The central point I was making was that far more QB's wash out when thrown to the wolves than thrive. The 93 degree temp at present is affecting my memory.
  20. The writer is talking about using him like a dump truck. Just pop the trunk open on the 'Vette" known as Josh Allen and have the loader pour the gravel in.
  21. As others have said in other threads I don't think that Josh is up to NFL speed just yet. Only the coaches know how he responds to frustration but odds are a few bad outings will impede his overall progress. Yeah, I know the Manning Boys and others were thrown to the wolves and rounded into top QB's but more just wear down to where they lose confidence long term. It's not going to be a run to the SB this year so lets develop guys including the 2018 rookie class.
  22. Don't know why but any conversation between Richie and Beane at this point in time to me would go like the one from Casino between Ace and Nicky about being in the black book.
  23. Sullivan Stadium sure looked like a dump back in the 1980's. Even old Cleveland Municipal looked classy in comparison. Sad how the Astro dome went from decent in the mid-1980's to what it looked like by the time the Oiler's left Houston. I guess time waits for no one.
  24. I have mixed feelings about my first time. The fact that it was a fix up and felt like most of the school knew it actually made it non-pleasurable. The physical part was a dud in large part because I was way drunk. I remember enough that I knew that I was a gentleman and the very morning after it was like women were looking at me differently but in a good way. The first time a woman tried to pick me up in a bar or club was in the same town just a couple of weeks after. I've been down the no confidence road at various times. The worst part was having the male relatives, friends, and neighbors give me the disappointed look. Actually, I got chewed out by a couple of uncles about being dateless during my mid-teens. I was never extremely bothered by the turn-downs themselves.
  25. I can relate to Terry. Public speaking was never my thing. I had a project (with two other people) at Cornell years ago and I had to give a presentation to a group of financial people. The only time I went to class drunk. I did alright but knew that a few people were not impressed. To get over such things sometimes the old adage about not going around or over but through is very true.
