  1. The Bills have quite a number of fans along I-81. Second only to the Giants. If Eli had not won two SB along with SU alum Tom Coughlin there would be considerably fewer Giants fans. A lot of the Giants fanbase was built up before the AFL came into existence. Back in the day you went along with whomever dad and grandpa were rooting for but that is not so anymore. The appeal of going to a game is big with a number of people and it is far easier for Joe Fan from Syracuse to obtain a ticket and drive to Orchard Park than it is to Jersey.
  2. There are Bills sports bars in Syracuse.
  3. I lived in Ithaca during the glory days of the Sack Exchange, O'Brien, Al Toon, etc. and usually Ithaca would have a Jets game in place of a Bills game but the Jets were often a late game (4PM) so the Bills would be on at 1PM in that case.
  4. I was going to say that there is one in Corning and given the proximity to HH there is no need for a Wegman's just for HH.
  5. The Giants are helped that they predate the AFL by a generation and a half. If great grandpa was a Giants fan back during WWII then if he had anything to say about it junior and grand junior were also Giants fans. Also, I am old enough to have seen people really have to look hard in Boston to find a Patriots jersey during the days of Grogan and Hannah.
  6. That far east it is a mixed lot but start going further west along I86 and the numbers grow. The Bills start doing well and you will see more Bills gear out. One or two stores really is not a strong indicator especially now with the internet along with direct delivery.
  7. It's been well prior to the 1960's that many wars if not most are fought over resources and money. Huh? Why would it stick in the crawl of Jon Bon Jovi? Trump at the worst would have only moved the Bills to Niagara Falls, NY to be a hook for a casino.
  8. I agree on your Manning observation. People need to stop being concerned about the past failings to the degree that they do and the achievements of other teams. For better or worse Bullough Mathison, and Jauron for the Bills along with Shula, Marino, and Griese for some of our opposition are long gone. People need to find some peace on our past.
  9. Seriously? In any event that honor goes to Levy and Jauron. Donahoe deserves dishonorable mention.
  10. I don't know about being horrible for its entire existence but it is Buffalo Bills-like in having many poor periods. Probably the best times were the mid-1970's and around 1990.
  11. He's lucky he has achieved what he did. I never thought he was as talented as a number of his former SNL co-stars. Every era of SNL has a person or two that is enjoyable for the time but does not translate into the future. For me that would be Joe Piscapo, Mike Myers, Chris Farley, and Will Farrell.
  12. I wish that this was around when I was coming out of college. Is being a "kept" husband such a bad thing? Seriously, I was almost fixed up with one of the Rich (frozen foods) girls back around 1990. Another time I went out with a sorority girl who really liked me but her dad squashed things with a background check of me. Then he pointed out that the nice things that she was used to would be a long time waiting to happen with me. Anyways, this was many years before background checks became common place and part of most peoples' vocabulary. I would imagine that the background check also showed I was from a family of nut jobs as well.
  13. Why Nantz and Romo for Bills at Vikings? Simple. Minnesota is viewed as a SB contender and this will be one of two opportunities to showcase them on CBS. Presumably, Nantz and Romo are scheduled for a premium AFC matchup the other time the AFCE visits the Vikings.
  14. If you are fairly young there is time to grow that million less debts so you can retire young. I just would not count on the market being as bullish as it has been at times recently and further into the past.
  15. I thought that you were supposed to farm it away?
  16. So far so good for Marrone but I don't think the AFCS will be in disarray like it was last year. Get back to me around Christmas about it. He is lucky that Coughlin still wanted to keep a finger in the NFL instead of going full retirement.
  17. My godfather was never a part of my life. Pretty good guy but was fairly old at the time so as I grew up he was fading away. I know of situations where quite a bond was established.
  18. Good point. A million dollars is not like it was a few decades ago when we were much younger (if we were around at all). But I will roll with the OP's premise. Pay off mortgage, replace PU with new PU, replace wife's car, and bank the rest. I'm not old enough to live off the rest and not need more before my presumed age of death. Still would have to earn income for a while and with the bad breaks in the last decade retirement is far off. Came close to making a million when the Microsoft IPO came along in 1986. I was at college and there were guys talking about it like it was a sure thing. I had 2,000 dollars put aside I could have used to buy stock but decided the word of a few guys who really did not know anybody on the inside was not enough. But even that would have not been enough as you would have to hold the stock untouched through Dec. 1, 1999 when it peaked to get that million plus dollars. I will repost this story for the next "if you had a time machine" thread.
  19. I kind of have similar feelings as I think a few Bills are going to find their game legs. Finally. I'm thinking that seemingly out of nowhere we will get yardage out of the TE position. We shall see.
  20. Well, Bill B is the master of the "Dark Side." Perhaps this was done with a little telekinetic "persuasion."
  21. Yeah, the least that they could have done was trade him to a NFC team.
  22. I'm trying to figure out if he is a Jet's fan or a Pat's fan come to troll.
  23. I blame it on the high number of younger people who most likely take a fair number of writing courses in college. You know the kind where you have to take a position on a subject even if you do not agree with it. Then you get polished at spinning crap into gold. The same with debate teams or public speaking courses.
  24. Funny, when a person fits a preferred narrative then he is a swell and upstanding guy. A poster who wants to have a negative mindset concerning the Bills finds a former player who feels the same what else is going to happen?
