Canada celebrates legalization day
RochesterRob replied to SlimShady'sSpaceForce's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Get millions out of the black market? Too much easy money for these guys to go legit. They will grudgingly undercut the legit sellers on price. Since a number of us live in New York State when the day comes for pot don't be surprised if it does not carry similar restrictions as liquor or tobacco. Agree that it is very available currently. -
Anderson's real value to the team
RochesterRob replied to BruceVilanch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Come on. Be serious. The Bills never passed the smell test as far as team that was going into the playoffs under their .own power versus what actually happened which was a lucky run on turnovers early and the Bengals to the rescue at the end. We know there were a number of better options for those that have no emotional bond to WNY. At the start of the previous season it was said that the Bills were a few years away and nothing has changed that perception to date. Both of last year's games with the Dolphins were unnecessary nail biters and I hope that McDermott impressed on the team that they will not always get a timely int to pull their butts out of the fire. -
Anderson's real value to the team
RochesterRob replied to BruceVilanch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It has been said on this board that the Bills had approached Anderson quite a while back but he was waiting for the right situation (playoff team) to come along which it did not. Can't make a player go where he does not want to go. -
What We Will Know by the Trade Deadline
RochesterRob replied to 1st Ammendment NoMas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am not saying that Anderson is the answer but our defense has to have taken some of the pressure off in Anderson's mind. If something is not there he will be more likely to throw the pass away versus trying to extend a play only to be sacked, fumble, or throw an int. A vet's mentality versus a rookie trying to impress the HC. -

I kind of miss the Oilers name. Permanently gone per Bud Adams' wishes. -

No &%#@* way I want a competing team in Toronto. Stay on the West Coast and look into Vancouver if Canada is a priority. -
Derek Anderson to start vs Colts
RochesterRob replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am hoping that Hughes, Kyle, and the rest of the D just walked up to Anderson and said get us 180-200 yards passing and we will do the rest! -

I am guessing that in his day job the poster is not entirely "economically viable." -

Bridgewater is 20/20 hindsight at this point. Quite a different matter to take a shot at a moving target. Honestly, given that the monster that is NE along with Baltimore, KC, Jags being likely to go far this year at this point I would not have expected the Bills to make 10-6 with a 15-20 ranked offense and likewise defense with different FA moves having occurred. All the problems the Bills had were not going to be fixed this past offseason and hate the selections if you will Beane's 2018 draft is looking fairly good currently. How good was McCarron? If the other 31 teams were a jury then I would say that the verdict was he was not of very high quality given how long he was out there. And I am a guy who had hopes that McCarron would find his on switch but evidenced by the Cleveland preseason game that did not happen. -

I would ask who was out there given our cap situation that was a cut above McCarron? Bridgewater and Bradford had injury concerns. Too many teams for a quality no issue QB or WR to be sitting by the phone on opening day. -

More comedy gold from Tiberius. -
Jauron was the best we could do since the top shelf guys such as Cowher would not come because of the malaise of Ralph being very advanced in age. I am thankful that Ralph held it together well enough to have the team stay but that is after watching the last decade of Ralph go by versus trying to guess when Ralph might just hit the wall mentally as it unfolded.
-
That's the thing that most fans probably do not see. Even though just about any position is less sexy than QB a FO has to consider the probability of success of each prospect. Again, I would ask if Mahomes would be who he is to this point in Buffalo with our staff and not be able to sit and learn unlike KC.

Why Derek Anderson should start the rest of the season...
RochesterRob replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thinking about the preseason game with Cleveland I think there was something management saw with McCarron that screamed unload him if you can. Maybe McCarron no longer had any passion to do the work necessary to start. I can only wonder about his mindset early on. -
As though proven vets are justing sitting on a shelf someplace waiting to be purchased. Any QB available during the last offseason had question marks around themselves. Bridgewater physically sound? Bradford physically sound? Cousins worth his price? Also, losing Eric Wood to retirement and Incognito going off the rails made developing a QB that much more problematic.

THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - One That Got Away
RochesterRob replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Even with all that has transpired in the last 36 hours the Colts game is still winnable if the Bills impose their will. Then reaching .500 will be hanging there like fresh meat hanging on a string for wild dogs to seize upon against the Pats. -
He needs to find the weight room at OBD.

Maybe Peterman will find this "light" people keep talking about when the Bills are on the road to play the Damascus Dalmatians?
-
I don't know that it is about a light coming on for Peterman. Some can handle it when the bullets are for real and some can't. Peterman can get it done Mon-Sat but it all comes apart on Sunday. I will support the team and hope there is a Biblical type miracle where all of a sudden Peterman becomes super cool on Sunday and gets it done.

If we March Peterman out there again...I will....
RochesterRob replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So holding your breath and stomping your feet is your answer? After the Ravens game it was obvious that Peterman left a lot to be desired but it is not like there is a QB store a team can go to and choose between bottom, middle, and top shelf for a player unlike George Costanza's jerk store. Conventional wisdom says that McDermott did things in a haphazard order in player acquisition but if at the midpoint next year the Bills are sitting at 7-1 McDermott will be considered a trend setter. What is done is done more or less for this year. Don't watch the team if it upsets you that much or even just go be a fan of another team but lets not pretend any message board tirades are going to alter the present course of this franchise. -
The Answer is Sitting in Tampa Bay
RochesterRob replied to st pete gogolak's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am not saying that it will happen but feel that management is backed into a corner with the current QB situation and a roster move is the only way out. If they get someone like Jones they sure as heck do not need to keep him if they feel Jones (whomever) is not working out. They have the perfect excuse with an injury in the minds of the fans to sit Allen for a few weeks if they think it will benefit him. -

Everybody intends to follow a specific plan of action but then life throws a curve ball. You have a good thing building with the defense and now you have signs of unrest such as with Hughes. Do you let all that you have work for collapse for the sake of being stubborn? There is a certain reality with Anderson in that he has been noted as being typical for a mid-30's vet in that he is not in ideal shape and probably can't take a multitude of hits. Hate Brady all you want but the guy is relentless in terms of conditioning and preparation which helps on the field. I doubt Anderson was exerting the effort earlier this year that is needed for ideal conditioning. -

Might be time for Landry Jones as a stop gap measure. Peterman can no longer be sold to the fanbase and Allen's injury though possibly minor would give him the breather he needs and save face. I just have a feeling that Anderson's "deal" does not include playing if it can be helped. It sure would be nice sitting in at any staff meetings involving Anderson today to hear the conversation. I would not put the chance of the Bills signing or trading for a stop gap totally at zero for this week.
