Are you an introvert or extrovert?
RochesterRob replied to Another Fan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I did the old fashioned dating service before my wife came along. Online dating can't be any worse. It's not like people were intensely screened for character years ago. -
A man that grew up in my wife's parents old neighborhood got sent to Attica around 20 years ago. Before he went in he was mr tough guy when he talked but when he got out he slept with the lights on and jumped to the slightest sound.

A matter that can be put to rest by channeling your inner cynic. The hay that could be made by embarrassing the US over a faked landing would have been the ultimate for the Soviet propaganda machine during the 1970's. They would have paid huge money for somebody from NASA to come forward and say the landing was fake.

Visions off Attica dancing in your head? I went with a woman who wanted it "rough" but for what she wanted specifically I was still in college and begged off saying I've got a pre-lim at 8AM in the morning so see ya. Guys who are not half way through college generally put their Johnson before their brain but I could see a whole lot of trouble coming form trying to "satisfy" her.

Is This Poetic, or Inappropriate?
RochesterRob replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Plenty of weird people out there. As they used to say on the old Card Sharks game show "Ill go higher than 1 out of 100, Jim." When I was at college a few of us would spend a minute or two poking fun at the campus paper personals section. According to my wife a couple of "invites" were thrown our direction but we are definitely not the type. Just like a car wreck it is hard to blind your eyes and cover your ears when it gets mentioned. -
I went out with a girl who carried a gun. This was back in the 1980's when far fewer people carried guns. Did not mind the gun but I could not carry that conversation very well as I knew more about rifles (far from an expert there as well). Talked about her mom and dad carrying a gun. Very attractive date but in addition to the gun talk there was a snow storm and she wanted to drive into Hornell to go to Perkin's which was about 20 miles from her house. Her parents were rather intense so all in all it was not a relaxing evening. A state trooper friend said that there are many places in the Southern Tier he would not go alone and after that evening I better understood what he was talking about.

My "weather station" shows wind gusts up to 30 MPH. Too far east to be expecting very much snow. Looks like Buffalo down into Dunkirk could receive quite a bit of snow. Gonna get the Sloppy Joe's going here in a half hour. I also was thinking about when I took meteorology at Cornell for an elective. I took that so I could avoid university physics. Anyhow, we did weather observations on the top of Bradfield. Good thing that the worst that ever happened was a rapidly developing T-Storm in April. I would hate to be up there today but they probably don't go outside anymore versus the good old days.

Democratic 2020 Presidential Primary Thread

Those kind of curriculums only exist at colleges where the main aim is to marry well. A number of those colleges are around the Rochester area. The old joke used to be that a large number of women were there to get their MRS degree. -

We need to tell our kids that proper selection of a curriculum is key to a successful career path. Quite a number of people will minor or double major something useless but still have a very useful major to use for a career. I've got no problem with a college offering poetry as a major but the parents and the college need to clue the kid in that he pretty much does that for personal satisfaction versus being a path to a paying career. Based on my contact with my younger "superiors" out of Quebec then cultural identity is still of great importance with people under age 40. The one guy just under the Vice President for North American operations would be maybe age 40 in 2019. -

A counterpart in Toronto always told me Quebec lacks the tax base that would support their desires or it would have happened already. But if enough people up there start to believe in Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy then all bets are off. -

50 nation-states. Always threatening succession. I worked for a multi-national corporation that had their North American headquarters just outside of Montreal. I know full well their feelings on English speakers among other things. -

And have 50 Quebec's? The legal voters in each state be darned if they don't follow the national herd? -

In my mind she is not out of 2020 until she misses the filing deadline in NY or RI or wherever she plans her start up. It's not so much her outright but Hillary's ego run amok. Kind of like a honor roll student's mother already having Harvard picked out for the kid even though the kid is in 8th grade. Chelsea will be 39 in a few weeks so it is no longer early in terms of making a Congressional run. -

Hence Chelsea Clinton counting her Clinton Foundation money on a snowy New York afternoon. She still needs to run for Congress in my mind for 2020 with the intent of a POTUS run 2024 or afterward. -

The Democrats are not asleep at the wheel anymore? You are not even trying anymore. I know that the Soros cubicle farm has quotas but you have to try harder than this. -

The Soviet leadership at the time no doubt sent the Democrats a copy of that playbook titled "When a leader flatlines." No doubt that a first edition is still with Ted Kennedy's personal effects. By the way those claiming inside information claim that Andropov's "cold" was actually a coup inside the Soviet leadership. -

Instead of that I see her being like Stalin in that we get very little random exposure to her. All appearances will be very controlled complete with stadium buddy which will be hard to see under her latest Chairman Mao pantsuit. -

I don't see a win in that for Hillary so the odds are pretty remote. If Hillary went back to her historical positions on issues such as gay rights then the Republicans would be a better fit but I don't think that changes anything for the RNC in terms of feeling that she is desirable to them. -

And they are willing to risk that random chance will land in their favor in terms of the general election. That the 6 months leading up to Nov 2020 will be full of bad economic news and perhaps a foreign policy blunder which will dampen enthusiasm for Trump to the point of derailing him. -

In terms of winning the general election your observation about the Clinton's is apt. But in terms of securing the Democratic Party nomination the Clinton Machine is very potent and that is a large part of the battle. I think that Hillary wields more power behind the curtains than Ted Kennedy ever did being a legacy of JFK. Hillary does not care one iota about her chances. It is all about massaging her ego which is a 24/7 job for those around her. -
Reasons to be Optimistic

My friend saw that same pollster at work. Doing the survey on the corner of Haight and Ashbury in San Francisco. Not really interested in the results of someone seeking a confirmation bias.
