  1. Another throw with touch that I don't think was in Allen's skillset in his rookie year.
  2. Daboll and his system - given time (due to complexity and the need for familiarity) for players to grasp - has been one of the most impressive things to see having watched so many simple and dink & dunk systems prior to his arrival.
  3. Quick notes so far: - Allen is looking pretty good - How can out pass protect be so much better than our run blocking? - Sweet lord Diggs got mugged - I thought it was a horse collar at first
  4. A more promising point that I think some posters are getting at here is -- We're going to start after the bye with about as healthy of a team as we've had all year. Looking at the games: Chargers - We come out of bye, healthy, this should be a W 49ners - Injury plagued team - We should treat this as the best possible way to prepare for the biggest challenge of the year. We need to be impressive with a W here Steelers - When the season started, before the 9iners essentially died, I wanted us to split between the two opponents. I think, if healthy, we can get a W. Broncos - We should win this Pats - Pending record they might play back-ups - they aren't tanking... but they are evaluating and positioning for next year when they will have higher draft picks and get 8 players back from the COVID opt-out. Even if they play all of their starters, I think we still win. Phins - If we are 2 games up - we're playing back ups Could we win all 6? Sure. but 4-2 is more realistic and should be enough to get the job done.
  5. I would like to ask what player would you like to have brought in - at what price - and what future ramifications that player would have. Don't get me wrong - I am still pissed we did not somehow get Nqakoue - but other than that singular example who else were you looking at.
  6. I know this isn't ideal - but this might mean that we use our new coverage LB Lee a bit this week which could work in our favor.
  7. I have to imagine that he could NOT be any worse then Klein. And to make a small note - it's not like Klein is a bad player - his football IQ is actually really high - but he's an example of a player that is literally JUST too slow (i'm not even talking by a lot either). He's always a half to one step behind. It's so hard to be upset every time I see him just short of being in the right position, or a step too slow to make the play.
  8. Getting Poe - on a cheap contract - and in a rotational role.... Honestly that sounds great. Everyone rips on some players for being "bad run defenders" or not showing up on the stat sheet (small shout out to our big man sitting home for the season - you're under appreciated). Just for reference - here are 3 players - one is playing 45% of Def snaps - another 55% and another 65% - Guess the order (you can guess the names as well if you'd like)
  9. Depends on how the Bills view him for this year but then also moving forward. Is this someone you want to have after this season? Trade and rework his contract - bonuses are spread out over up to 5 years of time. If it's just for this year, I'm not sure he's worth it - Murphy might not be a Pro-bowler, but he's not exactly uesless. You'd have a better chance of convincing me we go after Watt. There have been interesting rumblings about teams having mini-fire sales but being super stingy on players/costs. It'll be interesting. Jets/Giants/Pats/Vikings/Texans all mentioned. There are some interesting pieces I could give up later draft picks for among those teams.
  10. I mean - obviously it would be great to sweep the Pats - who doesn't want to. A large reason for the Pats dynasty was the afc east failure to develop a contender from a year to year basis. The afc east most certainly isn't the same as say, Pitt/Balt/Cinny/CLV where they all play each other hard (over the last two decades). How great would it be to say we were able to sweep our own division or to be able to walk into a season an say - oh look - that should be 6 wins. Although, if we lost to the Pats in week 16 because we were resting starters would also be acceptable although I'd want to hammer home that we were the better team.
  11. I don't know all the posters on this board well enough to know if you are an Allen hater/doubter/pessimist/ whatever, but if you're going to start being a Debbie-downer at least get your numbers right. He's 11th in % with #10 ahead of him being Dak who we all know is done for the year. Also - you say 67% as though that's some terrible number... Only 5 QBs had 70% or higher - and Fitmagic is one of them... oh and HE is not longer starting (completely different circumstance and I still think he's underrated - a discussion for another time/thread) You say he will regress to the mean.... are you referring to his career values? Because if you are, you clearly aren't watching the games. Yes he had two bad games.... everyone does. No one cares unless you don't bounce back. It's still painfully obvious that the O and Allen are well ahead of last year and there is no reason to believe that Allen will not and could not finish the season with at least 65% completion percentage. Pass Def numbers for our remaining schedule is: 11th/ 32nd/ 19th/23rd/3rd/6th/13th/11th/16th For reference - KC is 5th and the Rams are 4th
  12. I mean - I'm sure there are a lot of people on this board that will agree.... Until we beat them - their record and our record means nothing. If we want to be crowned the true kings of our division we need to at least split the games we play this season.
  13. I think we made so many splashy big plays the first 4 games of the year, Allen kind of forgot to look for check downs and just kept going long against the Titans and KC.
  14. If Allen can keep up a 70% comp percentage and the D can improve (i'm wondering if it's just because we have a heavy rotation on the Line and they aren't used to each other yet) we will win at least 1 playoff game. Would 4500+ yds be the Bills all-time leader?
  15. The long and the short of it is - Next weeks game against the Pats is probably the most important game of the year for the entire AFC East
  16. I think Beasley reminds me a little of Stevie Johnson - in terms of shiftiness and ability to get where he needs to be, when he needs to be there. I imagine just having an entire season and a second offseason with Allen has helped him kind of figure out what he can do to be a better option. That said - Yes we are 100% missing Brown and I can't wait to get him back. Davis is the best looking rookie WR we've had in a long long time.
  17. Positive reinforcement - it's literally a human equivalent to training an animal with a clicker and treats. This is doubled by negative reinforcement where if you do something and don't see him clap. This allows you to easily note displeasure with performance without being a jackass (see Rex Ryan and John Gruden). It's also easy to incorporate and easy to "read" from the players. I do this as a coach - although for me I'm all facial expressions. My athletes know when I'm upset by their performance, compared to happy about it, and also when their poor or good results are not directly due to their effort or output. Also if I yell it means they did something good and need to stop before doing something bad.
  18. I would say - we did not get our Mojo back. We played different packages and assignments that took away the middle of the field which has been taken advantage of recently. My football terminology isn't fantastic, but we also employed the equivalent to a QB spy on the RBs - although it was more of a pass off the assignment pending what was being shown. That single adjustment allowed us to play something similar to 5 on the line - while keeping it fluid enough to cover stuff out of the backfield / plug up gaps at the LoS instead of just beyond with for pull blocks / and have a pursuit on anything being bounced outside. We actually got a sack on a play where the assignment changed to watching the TE for a delay release - when the TE stayed in the block, the person changed his angle and got the sack.
  19. Frankly - Our O-line just needs to not get blown up. Regardless of it being Run or Pass blocking. The last two weeks they were absolutely man handled the majority of the game (although The KC game was more a matter of missing on all of our big swings). Until the O-line settled in today - we were looking like a 3 game losing streak.
  20. Look - i'm as happy as the next guy that we are pointing in the right direction. Years of being a Bills fan basically makes me care very little for anything that isn't a SB win. We could have a 12-4 record this year and I'd still think we're underdogs to make it to the show, let alone win it. If nothing else - this year - with the schedule we have - will 100% reveal how real our teams improvement has been and it's overall standing in the hierarchy.
  21. Actually I think they would just make us play on Thursday, unless you know of a rule/stipulation that would somewhere prevent it (there is one to prevent teams from playing three consecutive short weeks... I don't even know how that's possible, but it was mentioned that the rule came after it happened to the Seahawks. There is a good chance the game gets moved all together.
  22. I would probably say, that the only trio that we could trade for and possibly see an improvement would be the Cards. There was a really interesting article 2 weeks ago about how the Bills and Cards are performing better on Offense because they have receivers that can gain separation. It would be curious to see if we'd be better swapping the trio outright.
  23. Based on how the rest of the league is playing - we are 100% playing at a level to be considered SB contenders. That being said - it is very clear that we need: 1) Another Star LB if we're going to have a 3rd on the field that often - or get the hybrid safety/cb/lb freak of nature 2) A BIG DT to each up space and double teams 3) Figure out of CB situation 4) How to get pressure on the QB with our 4man run and how to NOT get ripped on every single blitz.... because it's getting to be an issue. But man.... for this to be our only problems (outside of needing to put teams away instead of leaving a sliver of a chance to come back) is just a great feeling. We should be noticed.
  24. So... lets simplify it by saying it's a horrendously bad call - although it didn't end up mattering. The reason they came up with was, he was moving away and down while establishing control..... essentially they are saying due to how he was falling, he didn't have control until he hit the ground at which point he was out of the endzone. He clearly had control as he was falling and it should have been a TD because he was over the plane for such a LONG time. Bad Call and they are trying to save face.
  25. I'm going to make a statement that many people probably aren't going to like. Draft Experts did not get Allen wrong. He was simply on of the few QBs that has actually made progress towards his ceiling when starting from what would be considered a low floor. This is a combination of many things - including Allen himself, but lets not sit here and ignore the fact that the organization has done literally everything in it's power to build around him to aid his improvement. New OL - far better than what we had with TT and JA's first year The Right OC - that uses an absolute TON of various looks, packages, and schemes and is just now able to scheme per opponent New Weapons - based on what he needs and how the NFL is trending If you don't believe me - We only need to look in our own division and see a player that had a much higher floor although lower end ceiling in Sam Darnold where he is dealing with: Just now getting a possibly good OL (year three and they are just/still addressing this) The OC/HC that is lauded as a QB guru is a sham His best current weapon is a very very old Chris Hogan (yeah yeah I know - Injures - but our depth at all the skill positions is far better) They weren't wrong - they nailed everything he'd need to work on. Josh Allen simply worked to improve while his organization did the same. This is not always the case and it's why 99% of project QBs go nowhere.
