  1. I ultimately did the same. I'd be happy with Ossai anyways so wasn't really a problem for me but he wasn't my top choice.
  2. It's kinda fascinating to see people arriving at polar opposite conclusions with his tape. Usually the tape guys seem to lock on to the same players each year. Iffy seems to be very polarizing with people like yourself and others saying his tape is flat out bad while others like Cover1 love his tape. I personally haven't watched his tape but I did watch a lot of Syracuse games in the moment as I always do and he always looked like a good, not great, prospect to me. I'm not sure how it works with the NFL; I imagine the league itself films the games from the All-22 angle but not sure. College tape is filmed by each school individually and then sent around to other schools for scouting purposes. So I think it's just tougher for them to figure out a way to monetize it since it's so decentralized compared to how I imagine the NFL does it. Having said that, some people are able to use sources to get their hands on All-22 college film and then trade it with others for games that they want. Some people pay others for it. I spoke with one of my favorite film guys on Twitter about it and he said he paid $350 for access to a google drive of film. I was able to find a guy that I could pay $5 a month for it so I ended up paying for two months to get my QB scouting in and then I'm out.
  3. Would sadly be an excellent start to the draft for the Patriots. Fields ended up as my #2 graded QB in the draft (also FWIW Wilson ended up #4).
  4. You're thinking of Jayson Oweh, not Joseph Ossai. Ossai had 5.5 sacks this year and was 4th in the country in TFL.
  5. I think WR is on the table, yes. Not a need for this year, but could be for the year after and we're at the point in the team building now that we need to be thinking 2+ years down the road with these picks IMO. Could also argue that someone like Toney makes McKenzie expendable this year while also having the potential to replace Beasley as he continues to age. I think WR is more likely than RB personally. Having said that, I wouldn't say WR is a likely choice, but I do think they'll consider it depending on who is available.
  6. Teven Jenkins seems like the obvious value pick here. He, Toney, or Ossai would be my choice personally.
  7. Jamel Dean is effectively a starter and a good one at that; I believe he graded out as a top 15 corner this year on PFF and the eye test matched that evaluation. Tampa has three good corners. Dean played out wide when they went nickel (which they were in most of the time), but if they started a game in the 3-4, he wasn't credited with the start. Ramsey, Tillman, Jones, and to a lesser extent, Dean are all hits. For the record, I wouldn't be willing to bet on Iffy being a hit, but I do think he's a talented prospect and just pointing out that you're definitely short-changing Dean and Jones.
  8. 1st round would be high for him, but I'd be happy with him in the 2nd and I won't be angry if he's the pick in the 1st. There's very few directions they can go that would make me legitimately angry honestly; the team is set up well right now.
  9. Sucks to see him go as his skillset is really tough to replace (but we also didn't get that skillset the last 10 or so games for whatever reason). He's a better prospect than some of our other recent early departures IMO though lol. Don't expect him to get drafted regardless.
  10. He doesn’t really have that much of a track record. He just lists them in every order imaginable and then in retrospect picks the order that looks best and cites that. He talks about how he had Lamar as his #1 QB in 2018, but by the time draft day rolled around, he had him 4th and had Rosen #2.
  11. I expect someone will trade up for him if San Fran doesn't take him themselves but we'll see. New England and Washington are two candidates that stand out to me. Might be a smokescreen but I know there's a buzz that Washington is in love with him.
  12. Talent is talent. If not San Fran, someone is going to take Lance early. Guys with his physical tools are rare, and guys with his physical tools and decision-making are even rarer. If they could have traded for Watson (obviously before his current issues), that would be a no-brainer IMO. Even if Tua develops well, you're hoping he turns into someone like Watson. I'm skeptical they were ever seriously considering a QB at 3; I think their intention was always to grab Pitts, Sewell, or one of the WRs and that's why they ultimately made sure they could pick up the 6th pick when they traded down. I'd be shocked if they spent an early pick on a QB. They already have a solid backup in Brissett in case things go off the rails with Tua and they're ready to push for a playoff spot; they'll almost certainly use their premium picks to build up the team around Tua and then if he looks bad this year, then maybe they'll start looking for a potential replacement.
  13. That's true for Allen's first year for sure and Allen looked worse than Tua as a rookie IMO. I'm not sure Tua's supporting cast was much better if at all better than Allen's in year 2 though. Brown and Beasley were on par if not better than Miami's WRs and Buffalo's OLine was definitely better IMO. At any rate, we've only had about half a season of Tua playing so far. His supporting cast should be much better this season and he'll be another year removed from the leg injury. If he doesn't take a step this year, I think we can write him off, but I don't think it's fair to do so after an okay rookie season considering all the context around it. He looked to have lost a bit of the zip on his throws from college, but he's absolutely still a running threat and a talented passer.
  14. I haven't finished scouting Lance yet, but based on what I've read and seen so far, he sounds like the best fit for the Shanahan system (outside of Lawrence who is obviously out of reach). I don't think Fields is a good fit at the moment, but his physical skills are so great that maybe Shanahan thinks he can help him turn himself into a better fit for them. I just don't see how they can really justify taking Mac to be honest; I don't think he brings anything to the table right now that they don't already have in Jimmy and I don't expect him to become a better QB than Jimmy long-term either. Re: Tua, Tua was a far superior prospect IMO and I think people have been unfairly harsh on him for just being okay last season while coming back from a gruesome injury and playing with a weak supporting cast.
  15. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out. The way I currently view it is: 1-3: All QBs, my guess is Lance is #3 but I know all the buzz is on Mac right now. 4-7: Sewell, Chase, Pitts, and a QB in some order That would mean Waddle and Devonta have to be taken in the 8-11 range and I think we can cross Dallas and NYG off the list for another WR and probably Denver as well so either someone has to trade up ahead of Philly for a WR or one of them will be there IMO.
  16. Horn definitely won't last to 30, but I do think he could slide past Philly. I expect one of the WRs to fall in Philly's lap at 12 and I think that'll be very difficult for them to turn down.
  17. Curious if any of the other draft scouts here have really looked at the QB position. Obviously not a need for us, but I always focus most of my time on the QBs just for fun and ended up with an early 3rd round grade on Mac.
  18. Not Scoop but back when he played for us and we had those weird gray and neon Orange jerseys, I got one of those jerseys autographed by Boeheim and have it framed in my house
  19. Was able to find some full game videos of at least a couple of our recruiting targets yesterday. I'm too busy with QB film to really dive into it now, but I watched like half a game of Chance Westry and Quadir Copeland. It shouldn't really be surprising considering his recruiting rank, but Chance looks great. Seems to handle and pass the ball as well with his left hand as his right, can get into his pull-up jumper smoothly, and in general has a nice handle on the ball. I know some people are super high on Quadir; I've seen some say he's a 5 star talent that just hasn't popped on the scene yet (he's currently ranked around 150 in his class on 247) and a lot of fans think he's the kind of PG we haven't had at SU in a long time. The half of a game I watched was from about a year ago, so maybe he's improved since then (or maybe it was just a bad game), but he seems to have a very shaky handle on the ball. I think he had 7 turnovers in the first half alone, and all but one of them was just him losing his handle, sometimes without even being impacted by the defender. There were a couple other times too where he didn't turn it over but simply had a hard time picking his dribble up or kinda bobbled the ball as he tried to branch into different moves. He definitely shows flashes of really nice passing vision but I'm not sure he's a PG yet with his handle, much less a great one. Does a nice job of using his long legs to create better angles for himself when he's driving though. I'm really curious to see more of him because he just didn't look nearly as good as I expected based on what I've heard from other people. I definitely remember it being reported as a heart attack.
  20. Best at taking charges that we've had since Fab Melo (RIP) who was also one of my absolute favorites ever to watch
  21. Replacing he and Kadary's passing next season is not going to be an easy task. Definitely one of my favorite players ever too; still remember watching his grainy European footage when he committed to us out of the blue.
  22. Are you saying Kamari reminds you of Malachi or Chance? Have you heard anything on Chance lately? I haven't heard anything since probably like October or November, but back then, I had been told we had more or less moved on from him. The only PG I've heard mentioned recently for us is Quadir Copeland.
  23. Welp, we just landed a top 40 recruit out of nowhere lol. Not totally nowhere but there hadn't been an update on him in awhile and he just committed out of the blue. https://247sports.com/Player/Kamari-Lands-46059436/ I would like to revise my "Not expected to land anyone outside of an 80-100 ranked guy in the 2022 class" statement from before lol I thought he was headed to UConn to be honest. Love that he'll hopefully get to beat up on them instead.
  24. Benny seems to be an awesome get. I haven't watched him personally as I can't find any of his team's games, but from everything I've read, he sounds like the real deal. I want to see us continue bringing in big time recruits like him. Kadary was on that level IMO but obviously we ended up screwing that up. Seems like we got unlucky with Bazley and Dior in recent years. I don't think it's a safe bet that we climb out of the relative rut that we've been in (not like we've totally bottomed out or anything, but being a bubble team every year is disappointing to me) but it's entirely possible that we could rebound from this. I think we're probably at least 2 years away from me feeling like the program is headed in the right direction again. Edit: I don't get the sense that we really expect to land anyone like Benny in the 2022 class; seems like we have a pretty decent shot at a guy in the 80-100 range, but everyone else that we feel decently good about is outside the top 100 (though that can obviously change over the next year).
  25. We'll just have to agree to disagree. Seton Hall and Syracuse are both generally around the top 40 or so at this point. Last year's Seton Hall team was probably better than any of our recent teams. At any rate, both of our programs are just annual bubble watch teams at this point with no hopes of being a true contender. We aren't exactly an NBA factory anymore either. Our last 1st round pick was Lydon and our last NBA player of any relevance was Jerami Grant 8 years ago. The NBA doesn't really care where you play anymore; they'll find guys anywhere. If Kadary plays the way he did for Syracuse this year but does it with more minutes that he'll likely be getting at Seton Hall, he'll end up in the NBA. He was already getting NBA buzz this season despite coming off the bench behind Girard.
