I'd say this is a blessing in disguise if Boeheim finds a suitable replacement but I'm definitely nervous we end up just going into the year with Maliq Brown and Peter Carey as our backup centers and that would probably be a disaster. Just not a fan of Ballard, at least from his time in high school. Obviously he hasn't had much of a chance to show anything in college so maybe he's developed since then, but he just didn't really do anything in high school.

I would second this. If he already has a collection he probably doesn’t need Buffalo Trace, Four Roses, etc. (Though those would be my brand name suggestions at that price point). Something local is more fun in that case IMO. And if you can find it in the $60ish range (not nearly as easy anymore), McKenna’s Bottled In Bond bourbon is awesome.

Agent generally takes a % of the contract vs. a lawyer just getting paid hourly.

As much as everyone likes to act like Lamar is negotiating the contract himself and won't have any help, this is not what athletes do when they're going into these things without an agent. They just hire a lawyer to make sure they don't do anything stupid instead of having a full-time agent taking a significant amount of their money.

Seems to be some buzz that we may have been written off re: our chances with Judah Mintz a little too quickly. Still seems to be a DePaul lean, but if we end up stealing him away, he'd become by far our most promising incoming recruit IMO. He was an absolute stud in the NIBC league where Chris Bunch was mostly terrible.

Honestly curious to see what the analytics end up suggesting here, both in terms of taking the ball vs. deferring and also whether or not to go for 2 if you defer and have to match a touchdown and extra point. My initial feeling was that I'd want the ball because I'd rather be the team that starts with it when it gets to sudden death. But I definitely see the logic in deferring since by starting with the ball, you don't know if 3 points or even 7 points is enough to win the game or at least get you to the sudden death. Edit: catching up now and it looks like the analytics suggest deferring is the better choice as people assume the 2nd team will not be willing to settle for tying the game and therefore, the 3rd possession won’t come into play very often.

Some things are starting to crystallize a bit from the sound of it. Don't know too many specifics, but one person I trust is saying they've heard that in addition to losing the two Boeheims and Sidibe, we're expecting at least 3 more players to leave this offseason. He said two of those three don't really matter (my unknowledgeable guess would be Jon Bol Ajak and Chaz Owens but not sure) but that the third assumed departure is going to hurt. He specifically said he's not sure what Cole plans to do yet, so to me, it seems like the third departure is almost certainly Frank Ansalem or Benny Williams (my unknowledgeable guess would be Frank). He also added that we're expecting to add 2 or 3 players in the transfer portal depending on what one of our important players does (my guess would be if Cole leaves, we try to bring in 3 and if Cole stays we stick to 2). He said we're pretty likely to add one player in the portal that he does not like (my guess would be Quincy Ballard to replace Frank). This is a really interesting way to put it and I think it's almost certainly correct.

For now I think Tennessee probably remains the better team over Indy. Still plenty of time and plenty of WRs out there for Indy to address that though and I think Pittman may prove himself to be a fine #1.

Breece Hall would be interesting from the standpoint that he's not what Beane has targeted in the past. Singletary and Moss were among the best, if not the absolute best, in their respective classes in terms of breaking tackles/forcing missed tackles and yards after contact per attempt. Hall is (I believe) dead last in terms of yards after contact per attempt in his draft class. He certainly offers more speed than Singletary/Moss do, but he doesn't look like a 4.39 guy on tape; his initial burst isn't anything special and he generally doesn't pull away from guys but rather just maintains distance. But he'd definitely offer us an upgrade on 3rd downs that we seemingly want considering our pursuit of McKissic while also potentially being a good option on the early downs too. I'm personally against going RB in the 1st, but if you're going to do it, you should target a 3 down back IMO and Hall definitely checks that box.

There's exactly a 0.0% chance that all Hill does is five yard crossing routes. He'll be stretching defenses as he always has both vertically and horizontally and Tua throws a good enough deep ball that safeties will have to help take Hill away. Tua is also good at extending plays. Unfortunately for him last year, he'd make 1 or 2 pass rushers miss when 2 or 3 of them were coming so Miami eventually realized their only chance of success was to get the ball out so quickly that their OLine didn't have a chance to ruin him. Their tackles allowed more pressures than anyone in the league last year despite Tua getting the ball out quicker than almost anyone.

These go hand in hand. Hill and Waddle can take those short passes a very long ways. Tua also throws a pretty good deep ball. His issue is he doesn't have the arm to squeeze in the intermediate passes into tight windows. I suspect that Miami will focus on the short and deep balls anyways, but theoretically, Hill's separation skills and the attention he pulls away from the middle of the field should make those passes easier for Tua.
