  1. There has never been a WR that tested as unathletic as him that has gone on to be more than a fringe NFL roster player. I'd be fine taking him on Day 2 based on his tape, but I'm not using a 1st on that. In general I don't think this WR class is worth using a 1st round pick on; the guys that you get in the 3rd or 4th round will probably be just as good. Edit: As unathletic AND OLD as Ridley.
  2. Going off of Mel Kiper's mock draft: Kolton Miller Orlando Brown Calvin Ridley Derrius Guice James Washington Geron Christian Donte Jackson And not included in Mel's mock as a 1st rounder but just to reiterate, Mason Rudolph.
  3. The main guys I'd eat crow on if they turn out to be bad are Lamar Jackson, Vita Vea, Roquan Smith, and Quentin Nelson. Ronald Jones would probably be the 5th but you never really know with running backs. The main guy I'd eat crow on if he turns out to be good is Mason Rudolph. I think he could potentially become a below average starter but I just don't see upside in him at all.
  4. Hard to see his draft stock increasing after today. He seemed to prove himself to be a 4th or so round prospect. The guys that stood out IMO were: Josh Allen Josh Rosen Baker Mayfield Kyle Lauletta Mike White I still have faith in Lamar, but it was a mixed bag for him today. The rest looked pretty poor IMO.
  5. Based on the Combine measurements, his BMI suggests he's relatively skinnier.
  6. Rosen and Darnold are skinnier than Lamar.
  7. He's not running the 40 or doing any of the athletic testing at all. He's only at the Combine for the interviews and the passing drills.
  8. He wasn't all that productive in college. He only broke 800 yards from scrimmage once in four years and never rushed for more than 700 yards in a season. I've heard Arizona State fans say he didn't really run like his size would suggest at all; basically just a guy that can pick up yards that are blocked for him but nothing more.
  9. I think Beane said they want their backup to be a power back, so I would guess it's likely someone like John Kelly or Bo Scarbrough maybe. Jonathan Stewart or Chris Ivory wouldn't surprise me at all either.
  10. I'd be fine with keeping Tyrod, but if they want to use that cap space on something else, that's fine with me too. Ideally I would want to sit Lamar for at least half a season if not the full rookie season though, so if Buffalo moves Tyrod, I'd like a decent replacement. I don't think you need a super mobile veteran in front of Lamar if that's more of what you were getting at; Lamar is mainly a pocket QB that can run. He already has experience in an Erhardt-Perkins style offense; I just suspect that we'd add more read option to it once Lamar is inserted into the starting lineup.
  11. His name is like one of those guys from the Key & Peele football name skits lol
  12. Yeah, 4.7's wouldn't shock me at all.
  13. I don't think Barrett is all that fast tbh (for a RB). I'm guessing he's in the upper 4.6's
  14. 1. Lamar Jackson - I think his accuracy is roughly average compared to the rest of the class, which in conjunction with his arm strength, incredible running ability, and ability to go through progressions, makes him the #1 QB in this class for me. 2. Sam Darnold - Obviously you love his build. He can do just enough with his legs to get himself out of trouble/make plays and he's just a really talented passer. The turnover history is definitely troublesome though. 3. Josh Allen - I think he's less likely to pan out than Mayfield or Rosen, but his ceiling is so absurdly high that I'd take him over either of them. If he can improve his accuracy to become roughly league average (compared to other starters), he'll be in MVP conversations IMO. 4. Baker Mayfield - Probably the most accurate passer in this draft class. I'm a little concerned about his arm strength; he can get the ball there fine, but it's kinda Fitzpatrick-ish in the way that you can tell he's putting absolutely everything he has into his throws to get decent velocity on it. It's worked for him to this point, but it does give me some hesitations. His footwork is an absolute mess, but like the arm strength, it's worked for him so far. 5. Josh Rosen - Obviously I'm lower on him than most, but I'd still be happy to have him in the first round and to have him as a Buffalo Bill. The main concerns are his slight build along with his injury history and his lack of mobility. I'm afraid he's going to be a sitting duck in the pocket and while he's a talented passer, his decision making under pressure is pretty poor and I don't think he's as accurate as he's given credit for. He's still probably the 3rd or 4th most accurate in the class, but it isn't great IMO.
  15. I’d like to see pass interference implemented like clear path fouls in the NBA. Basically, if you’re not the last line of defense, it’s 15 yards. If you’re beat and there’s no help over the top, it’s a spot foul.
  16. Wouldn't surprise me if Rosen, Allen, and Mayfield all follow suit to be honest.
  17. Adjusted completion percentage has its issues but it’s certainly better to attempt to adjust for drops and throwaways than to pretend a perfect pass that’s dropped is worse than a bad pass that’s caught. Neither one necessarily measures how good a player’s ball placement is but people smarter than you or I have tracked that as well and determined that Lamar’s ball placement is roughly average compared to the rest of the class, which in combination with his running ability should make him a very promising prospect IMO.
  18. And he's currently projected to be taken right around the Bills current range. Between Roquon, Edmunds, Evans, and Vander Esch, if the Bills hang onto one of their late 1st round picks, they should be able to get a great linebacker prospect which this team desperately needs.
  19. Better, but I think the disparity between Lamar's supporting cast and his opponents versus Allen's actually makes Lamar's supporting cast relatively worse. Louisville was a god awful team offensively being propped up by Lamar while facing ACC competition. Wyoming was also a god awful team offensively (worse than Louisville) but the MWC competition isn't a lot better. I like both Lamar and Allen personally, but the excuses that scouts make for Allen while not affording the same excuses to Lamar is really stupid IMO. For example, Louisville WRs were roughly 2-3 times more likely to drop catchable passes than Wyoming WRs were this year. I think the NFL Comps for those two were way off too while the comparisons for the other 4 guys were all pretty good.
  20. I don't necessarily agree with all the takes in here, but it's always interesting to read this stuff IMO: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2760902-matt-millers-scouting-notebook-scouts-latest-takes-comparisons-for-top-qbs?share=twitter
  21. Who would pay McCown $10 million + bonuses with zero intention of him starting a game? That's crazy talk. You can sign a backup QB mentor far cheaper than that.
  22. Hard to imagine them paying Tyrod's salary on top of what they're already paying Flacco. They can move on from Flacco in a year when Tyrod will be a free agent if they want to. I think Baltimore is far more likely to draft a QB than to trade for one like Tyrod. In this hypothetical scenario, they aren't paying $6 million just for a mid-round pick. They're paying $6 million so that they don't get stuck with Nathan Peterman and a meh prospect as their only QB options.
  23. I would guess that at the moment, Darnold and Allen are their preferred choices, but I guess we'll see. I doubt they're locked in solely on one guy right now.
  24. Yes, unless Rosen/Lamar skipped the combine for some reason, we'll learn exactly how much they weigh/how tall they are.
  25. Hot take: I don't think this should piss people off.
