  1. I think Mayfield, Darnold, and Allen are the Jets top 3 in some order. I’d guess Baker is #3 on that list but we shall see.
  2. He's more than a safety but I concur that it's a really weird pick. At best he's a rich man's version of Micah Hyde.
  3. The two intriguing things about Falk is: 1. He's willing to step into a hit to make a good throw rather than fading away from his target 2. He tries to let plays develop downfield but is aware of where his check down is if need be Having said that there's a lot of red flags: 1. Injury history 2. Arm strength concerns 3. Even though he knows where his checkdown is, he holds the ball too long; he'll throw the checkdown but he'll release it so late that he ends up taking hits anyways 4. Not as accurate as you'd like from a guy with questionable arm strength Ultimately he's probably a guy that has a long career as a backup QB because he's an intelligent dude, but he's a longshot as a starter IMO.
  4. I like him, but I’d rather take one of the big 5 in the 7-12 range of the draft.
  5. For the record, I believe Charlie Campbell from WalterFootball was actually the most accurate of the main draft pundits last year, but due to how much Walter annoys people, the two of them aren't included in studies like this.
  6. I'd be beyond shocked if he retires before the season. I just don't see him screwing Kraft over like that after likely pushing for them to trade Jimmy.
  7. Clearly an analyst on Twitter does not have the same resources as NFL employees. Watching film and breaking down a prospects strengths and weaknesses is what I was referring to. Obviously a Twitter thread isn’t as in-depth as a professional scouting report. This guy scouted Rosen and then provided clips of the weaknesses that he found.
  8. Lol. He’s saying the plays included are some examples of the concerns that he has from watching him overall...literally the same thing all scouts do. Obviously everyone has a bad play every once in awhile. He’s saying these are legitimate weaknesses in his game. You can disagree with his conclusions if you’d like but there’s nothing wrong with using a twitter thread to illustrate the strengths and weaknesses of a prospect.
  9. Feels like it’s Hate On Rosen Day for some reason. This Twitter thread popped up on my timeline today:
  10. Wasn't sure where exactly to post it but didn't think it's deserving of its own thread, so here:
  11. I don't think that's necessarily true, but I think a lot of this article is laughable, with the two main ones being: 1. Rosen is my least favorite of the 1st round QBs (excluding Rudolph who I don't see as a 1st rounder), but even I would admit that he's ready to start from Day 1. Carr seems to admit as much too but just throws him in the 2nd category for basically no good reason. 2. Tanner Lee. He says that every offensive coordinator/coach he's spoken to has Lee as one of their top 3 QBs in the class? He says that Lee's accuracy is extremely impressive but he doesn't have the physical tools that wow you? I legitimately think that he has Lee mistaken for someone else; his physical tools are the only thing that he has going for him and he makes Josh Allen look like Drew Brees in terms of accuracy. There's simply no way that every offensive coach he's spoken to believes that a guy projected to be a late Day 3 pick if that is actually one of the top 3 QBs in the class.
  12. For what it's worth, Benjamin Allbright cited velocity numbers from the Combine that said Lamar hit 54 MPH. Still not quite the 55 that is considered the ideal, but damn close. It's completely different types of problem-solving though. The thought process involved in "If someone is dropping into coverage over here, that means there's probably an opening over here" is completely different than "What word, when added to the beginning of MILL and the end of CHAIN, creates two other words?"
  13. I think he's far more anti-Rudolph than he is anti-Rosen. He at least acknowledges that Rosen is a pretty good prospect, just not his preferred choice. He believes Rudolph should go undrafted.
  14. Presumably it was: 1. Only coming from one source 2. Coming from multiple sources, but none that were super trustworthy
  15. Personally, I don't think that stuff will play a role in McBeane's decision, and if it does, I imagine it would be a tiny, tiny role. I do think what he's said re: Trump goes beyond the simple label of "liberal" though, and I do think that in the Jets case, it plays a significant role given Woody Johnson's relationship with Trump. I do not envision the Jets taking Rosen at all as a result. I do, however, think that the stories of teammates/coaches not liking Rosen is something that will play a role in team's evaluations of him. Some teams will care about that more than others; I'm not sure where I think Buffalo lays in there but I'd lean towards the leadership qualities being a relatively big deal for them and I believe that could knock Rosen down a peg or two in their rankings as a result (if Buffalo finds that the stories about him are true of course, which we simpletons just aren't privy to). I think they value the skills > leadership, but if they believe that Darnold, Allen, and Mayfield are close to Rosen skill-wise, I could definitely see it being a tiebreaker that goes against him.
  16. I'd love to hear the reasoning behind their selections. I'm guessing they went with Allen over the Not-Lamars because Wyoming has a horse on the helmet.
  17. Oh come on lol. I mean, even Dak Prescott has enough power in Dallas to have a say in Dez getting cut and Rodgers is at worst the 2nd best QB in the NFL.
  18. Correct me if I'm wrong, but neither of them made any mention of specific teams, right? Obviously Buffalo appears to be one of the most likely teams to move up, but nobody significant has really said that it's related to Buffalo AFAIK
  19. Here's some of ESPN's stuff: http://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2018/insider/story/_/id/19350616/way-too-early-2018-nfl-draft-big-board-best-prospects-rankings-mel-kiper - On his big board, Mel Kiper had Darnold #1, Allen #3, and Rosen #7. Nobody else made the top 25. http://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2017/insider/story/_/id/19294111/todd-mcshay-way-too-early-2018-mock-draft-nfl-draft - McShay published a "way too early mock draft" in which Darnold, Allen, and Rosen went 1-2-3. http://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2018/insider/story/_/id/19351953/mel-kiper-way-too-early-2018-nfl-draft-rankings-top-prospects-every-position - Mel Kiper's "way too early rankings" were split between Seniors and Underclassmen Seniors (in order): Rudolph, Luke Falk, Baker Mayfield, Matt Linehan, Mike White Underclassmen: Darnold, Allen, Rosen, Lamar, Clayton Thorson (will be in the 2019 draft) Generally speaking, it was believed that Darnold, Allen, and Rosen were all elite prospects. Nobody else was really expected to go in the 1st round, but Rudolph/Falk/Lamar were considered the next tier. Mayfield was seen as probably a Day 3 prospect.
  20. I can think of one team whose past regimes didn't... I understand the schemes they use are limited, but the players are clearly far better than what he faced at Richmond. At any rate, you can tell from watching him both at Richmond and at the Senior Bowl that his accuracy will translate. The question is if his decision-making and arm strength will be sufficient in the NFL.
  21. For what it's worth, he carved the defense up at the Senior Bowl as well which was obviously a much higher level of competition.
  22. Gotcha. Unfortunately a lot of people have had similar reactions in the past if there isn't a tweet about it haha
  23. He didn't tweet it, as you can tell from the context in the OP. Rapoport was quoted in an article on NFL.com http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000926782/article/ravens-showing-most-interest-in-dez-bryant
  24. Mel Kiper: What is the highest Lamar Jackson and Mason Rudolphcould be drafted? (via @maddawgfours44) Jackson is going in the first round. I have no doubt there. As far as the highest spot for him, I think it's No. 12 to the Buffalo Bills. There is also some recent buzz about Rudolph sneaking into the first round. There are a few teams that like him more than Jackson. So for the highest spot he could go, I'll say No. 28. That puts him one spot before the Jacksonville Jaguars, as a team could trade up before the Jags pick and grab him. Rudolph is more of a second-round prospect for me, though.
