Thoughts on McDermott, Beane after the 2018 Season
DCOrange replied to billsgpr88's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm still on the fence with them. I love McDermott as a leader but I think he has a lot of growing to do as a game manager still (which is totally fine; he's a young, inexperienced coach). Beane has a pretty shaky track record so far IMO but this is obviously likely to be the make or break offseason for him with the cap space and draft picks that he's accumulated. I'm a bit nervous that we'll let him make these big moves and then end up finding out we wasted the assets and then have to bring someone else in to clear out his mistakes like he did when he was first hired but we'll see. He's certainly had some pretty good moves mixed in with the bad. -
[Name Only Title] Adam Humphries
DCOrange replied to st pete gogolak's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Kwon will be re-signed before he can hit the open market. If not, I think he'll get a much larger contract than I'm comfortable with considering that Buffalo already has Milano and Edmunds in place. As for Humphries, I think he's going to get paid. I wouldn't be shocked if he gets like 4 years $40 million or 3 years $30 million or something like that after the contract we just saw Quincy Enunwa receive. Humphries would be a tremendous fit here though and I think Buffalo will show interest in him. -
Potential Cut Candidate: Gerald McCoy?
DCOrange replied to DCOrange's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not sure I want to be spending the money that both McCoy and Star will cost, but McCoy would be slotted into a role where he could play 60-70% of snaps even with McD's rotation. I'd certainly rather pay McCoy $12+ mil than paying Star but we're unfortunately saddled with Star already so it might be best to find a cheaper interior pass rusher. -
2019 NFL Draft: Bills officially picking 9th
DCOrange replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Trade down should still be the goal IMO, but it’s a bummer that we’re probably out of range for Oliver now. Seems like we’re destined to reach on someone if we stay at 9. -
End of Season Rank the rookie QB's
DCOrange replied to RPbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lamar has completely transformed that team and he's nowhere near his potential ceiling. Allen isn't near his yet either. If either of them are able to reach their respective ceilings, they'll probably be MVP candidates IMO. -
End of Season Rank the rookie QB's
DCOrange replied to RPbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Like I said, I think the order will remain the same, but I would assume that Baker scored higher than a 53 this week, so he'll probably pull further ahead of Allen than he already is and Lamar probably scored higher than a 44, so I'd imagine he'll close the gap on Allen somewhat (though still be behind him). -
https://www.tampabay.com/blogs/bucs/2018/12/30/gerald-mccoy-i-gave-this-organization-everything-i-had/ His contract next season is unguaranteed and after the game today, he was responding to questions as if he knows he's being released.

End of Season Rank the rookie QB's
DCOrange replied to RPbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This isn't updated for this week yet. They've only graded 7 of today's games, and haven't graded Baker, Lamar, or Rosen yet. I assume it'll be the same order still but I'd guess the gap between Baker and Allen will be a little larger than that. Before the season, I had them ranked, in terms of being ready to play this year: 1. Baker 2. Lamar 3. Rosen 4. Allen 5. Darnold In terms of overall rankings, I had it: 1. Lamar 2. Darnold 3. Allen 4. Baker 5. Rosen After seeing them all play this year, I'd probably go: 1A. Baker 1B. Lamar 3. Allen 4. Darnold 5. Rosen -
If we're going based on who was the most valuable rookie, I'd say it's Baker and then Lamar. In terms of who was simply the best player, it's a tough call between Baker and Saquon. I'd probably lean towards Saquon.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: HC Dirk Koetter fired
DCOrange replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Schefter already reported that the Bucs are committing to him for at least one more season as the starting QB. -
Who Are You Rooting for the Rest of the Way?
DCOrange replied to BUFFALOKIE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wouldn't say I'm rooting for any particular team. I'm just rooting against New England pretty much. I enjoy the Chiefs, Ravens, and Colts in particular in the AFC (assuming Indy takes care of business tonight). In the NFC, I don't really care about any particular team at all. I think the Saints will win it all but I don't have a rooting interest in any of them. -
Packers interested in interviewing Pat Fitzgerald for HC

Why? -
Will people mock the committee for putting Oklahoma in the playoffs like they’re doing for Notre Dame after this or is it okay for other schools to get smoked in these games?

Any insight/opinions on Hakeem Butler last night?
DCOrange replied to CEN-CAL17's topic in College Football
If he runs in the 4.4’s I agree but I don’t see that at all. I think he’s in the 4.55-4.60 range. -
In a trade down scenario? It depends who is available but there should be a bunch of worthy OLine in the late teens. Could go WR or TE there too or even another defensive lineman.

I think he ends up a Day 3 pick when it’s all said and done. -
That would absolutely be a good idea. I’m excited to watch Oklahoma-Alabama. Oklahoma’s OLine is stacked but Alabama will be a huge test for them with Quinnen and Raekwon in the middle.
-
Oliver. Scouting OLine isn't really my specialty, but based on what I've read, I'm not really convinced Jonah is worth taking in the top 10. Oliver, to me, is at worst the #3 prospect in the draft and he happens to be at what I believe is a position of need. To me, if any of Bosa, Quinnen Williams, or Oliver fall to the Bills pick, it's a no-brainer (assuming they don't trade down, which would be my first choice).

4 year, $36 million extension for Quincy Enunwa
DCOrange replied to DCOrange's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's going to be playing in the slot the entire time anyway so generally the guys trying to cover Evans or Zay wouldn't really be matching up with Hump anyways. The question is whether or not zone coverage will be shaded towards Humphries if he were in a different situation; I doubt it, but the only way to find out is by bringing him in and seeing what happens. I think he's good enough to hurt defenses but not so good that defenses will build their coverage around stopping him. Not to mention you would hope that Buffalo is bringing in more than just Humphries this offseason; I think the goal would be for Humphries to be the #3 option in the passing game. -

One potential WR target off the board to the Jets. -
As far as free sites go, I think The Draft Network is really good for getting a feel for prospects. WalterFootball & Bleacher Report are honestly fine. WalterFootball gets a bad rap because the guy that founded the website is scum and some of their articles are just kinda stupid, but Charlie Campbell does most of the heavy lifting there at this point and he's actually well-connected. His NFL Hot Press articles in particular are something that you don't really get anywhere else. Matt Miller from Bleacher Report is good IMO. I don't always agree with his takes on prospects, but he provides more depth than most. This early in the draft process, there really isn't much content; you'll get the occasional article from Kiper/McShay or the guys at NFL.com, but for the most part, you're already looking at the best that we can get until we get into like the NFL Combine and draft workouts. One other recommendation would be DraftAnalyst.com aka Tony Pauline. I especially found his articles to be a good read once we get into Pro Days; he reports on which teams are attending which pro days, which prospects they're spending time with, etc. At this point in the season, the value that he provides is updating us on some under-the-radar prospects and some prospects that seem to be slipping in recent weeks.

The Bills need a WR and the mocks you happen to be seeing are people that are very high on him. The ESPN guys and WalterFootball and supposedly NFL teams don’t really see Metcalf as a first round prospect right now but there’s a long ways out still. This is a really deep WR class so my personal preference would be to go another route in the first round and take multiple WRs later but that’s just me.

On the DK Metcalf topic, Charlie Campbell had this to say:

Been waiting for this: The Draft Network finally reviewed one of the WRs that jumped out at me last year during my QB scouting: Marshall's Tyre Brady. If you're tired of watching the Bills' WRs drop passes over and over, this is a guy that can fix that. His hands and body control are awesome IMO. https://thedraftnetwork.com/2018/12/27/2019-nfl-draft-player-profile-tyre-brady/
