  1. I'm starting to think that if he leaves Tampa, Donovan Smith will end up being a Bills target in the offseason.
  2. This is basically where I'm at. I think everything Gruden has done personnel-wise to this point is pretty defensible. I'm not sure I believe in his on-the-field philosophies anymore, but I don't think trading Mack was a bad decision. I think trading Amari was a legitimately good decision. And I think moving on from Carr (if they choose to do so) is a fine decision.
  3. I don't really get this at all, and I don't mean to single you out because a lot of other people have made the same point. Cousins isn't even the worst QB contract given out in the past couple years much less the biggest FA bust of any position in NFL history. Over the next 3 years, he'll make less money than Matt Stafford, the same amount as Jimmy Garappolo, and roughly $10 mil more than Alex Smith, who might never play football again; 2 of which we know with certainty are worse than Cousins and the other has started 10 games in his entire career. People have exaggerated the hell out of the fact that Cousins' contract is fully guaranteed. Most QB contracts are effectively fully guaranteed for 3 years too because the way they're structured makes it a nightmare to get out of their contracts before then. Shocking that a guy that has played on bad teams his entire career has a losing record against good teams. Their defense was brutal early in the year but they've locked in recently and are back up to being top 5-10 statistically; basically right up there with how they played last year. The huge difference is that their running game went from one of the top 5-10 in the league to being bottom 5 in the league. The offensive play-calling has also taken a gigantic step back, not to mention last year was probably a bit of a fluke; it was a lot of Keenum just running around throwing up prayers that his WRs bailed him out on.
  4. I’m beginning to think, for better or worse, that if he doesn’t re-sign in Tampa, Buffalo will make a run at Donovan Smith.
  5. Buffalo was one of the two focuses of today's Monday Morning Draft article on WalterFootball: http://walterfootball.com/draft2019mmd_14.php
  6. I'm kinda surprised that no-look passes don't happen more often. I know Mahomes and Alex Smith both do it sometimes, and I know football passes are generally longer than those in the NBA, but considering how often you see it in the NBA, I'm surprised it's not more of a thing in the NFL.
  7. For what it's worth: The last three weeks, Allen has finished 8th, 6th, and now 4th in QBR. PFF hasn't updated their grades for this week's games yet, but Allen was the highest rated QB over the previous two weeks and I imagine he probably had an average grade this week.
  8. That was the main thing that stood out to me today. I’m realizing that his speed is such a weapon that the rest of his skills almost don’t matter. He’s fast enough that he can get the corner turned around and in chase mode on basically every play, and once he’s done that, you can either throw it over the top where he has him beat or throw back shoulder/a comeback and since the corner is in chase mode, they aren’t able to see the ball and adjust to it as quickly as Foster can.
  9. Also has Buffalo getting Noah Fant in Round 2.
  10. I still like the college rules but think the starting point should simply be moved back for the NFL so you have to actually earn the field goal.
  11. At this point, I think Beane probably agrees with Talbot and brings McCoy back while letting Ivory go, but I think Ivory has simply been better than McCoy this season, and at their respective costs, I'd be more interested in bringing Ivory back than McCoy (though you could make a solid argument for letting both of them go too). I can nitpick some of the specific decisions in the article...Anthony Johnson isn't the guy I'd like to target in the 2nd round; likewise with Ollison in the 6th, but can't argue with the holes Talbot has us looking to fill, and so much can change between now and April as far as draft targets go. I'd definitely love to get Ed Oliver here; it seems like there's some buzz that Oliver is slipping down draft boards, but we'll see if that remains the case after he likely takes the NFL Combine by storm. Seems like most people have Quinnen Williams going top 3 at this point, so I don't foresee him being an option unfortunately.
  12. I can already tell that he's going to be drafted 3 or 4 rounds earlier than I think is deserved.
  13. This would be a dream scenario pretty much. I can nitpick a little here and there but if they actually came away with a class like that, I don't know how people could be anything but excited.
  14. Before the news about two other incidents came out, I would have confidently said he'll play again, and soon. Now I'm not so sure. I still think someone will ultimately give him another chance, but I don't think it's a definite anymore.
  15. I was never even interested in any of these comic books, super hero movies, etc. until the Daredevil series on Netflix got me to give Marvel a chance, and in the past few years since that show debuted, I've entirely caught up on the Marvel movie series. They weren't all good IMO, but they were good enough. And while it will be sad to see the original guys likely die, I'm very excited for more Black Panther, Spiderman, and hopefully Ant-Man.
  16. Trailer doesn't exactly reveal much, but given the hype behind this, it didn't need to. In fact, I'm happy it didn't reveal much.
  17. This is bringing back my interest in doing a test like this. My family started using one of those ancestry websites to create a family tree a few years back, and among other things, we discovered: Our relatives were pretty much all from England or Wales, so nothing exciting there If we went REALLY far back (like multiple centuries), it looked like we had some Russian and Jewish in us. We discovered that my grandfather is a year older than he thought, that he had a sibling he didn't know about, and that his mother took the kids (including him) and ran, changed their identities, and started a new family. So my family name isn't actually my family name at all.
  18. For what it's worth, one of the casinos in Vegas had Daboll among the top 4 most likely candidates to replace Mike McCarthy in Green Bay as of a few days ago too.
  19. Just off the top of my head I would think the Redskins potential opening is easily the worst. I don't think the Jags opening is bad at all to be honest, and even so, I doubt Daboll will have his pick of the litter. If he's offered any head coaching job this offseason, it could easily end up being the only one he gets for many years. The Jags will have basically all the pieces of what should have been an elite defense intact next season (minus Dareus and probably one other underperforming player like Barry Church). Offensively, they'll have to figure out the QB position and probably iron out the O-Line but they don't have many holes to fill to be right back in the playoff picture again next year IMO
  20. Being an offensive coordinator probably is not his dream job. And things change. Being the head coach at Syracuse was Doug Marrone's dream job. Then he unceremoniously left to become the head coach of his local-ish NFL team: his new dream job. Then he left Buffalo and ended up in Jacksonville. If Daboll is offered a head coaching job, I would not at all be surprised if he took it, especially coming off a season in which the offense was pretty putrid.
  21. Not only that, but we could end up with like 8 head coach vacancies this offseason so teams will likely have to go pretty far down the list to find their new coach. Wouldn't shock me if Daboll gets interviews. Ties to Belichick and Saban and the general consensus has been that he's done a good job this year. Allbright isn't the first person to mention Daboll as a possibility for teams this offseason.
  22. Yes, the article in the OP mentions that Allen only had one incomplete pass on throws shorter than 20 yards.
  23. I think they'll ultimately decide to keep Shady and hope improving the line makes him look more like the guy he was 2-3 years ago, but I just don't think he's anything special anymore to be honest. I think signing one of the guys I mentioned and then drafting someone like maybe Darrel Henderson, Damien Harris, or Karan Higdon is an upgrade while also saving a significant amount of money (unless Tevin Coleman is the one they sign) I would guess that you're probably right
  24. To be clear, I'd like to draft a RB as well. My guess is that they'll end up keeping Shady and draft a RB to give us some fresh legs. I'd personally prefer to cut Shady, sign one of the guys listed above, and then draft another, but we'll see.
