Shush. Facts should never rear their ugly head when discussing the Buffalo Bills... (On occassion it seems posting facts appear to be against board policy around here).

I hear you. I can't read a book or newspaper any more without spotting typos or errors all the time. Even advertising boards with no more than a dozen words (in foot high letters) all too often have mistakes. Of course, all my work is prefect...

What's your favorite Christmas Song?
Britbillsfan replied to ChevyVanMiller's topic in Off the Wall Archives
UK has a different load of XMas songs, it would appear. The fave: Slade 'Merry XMas Everyone' Also Pogues: Fairytale of New York http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCr30OVMjHA and Wizard: Wish it could be Christmas Everyday (worst mimed video ever, perhaps) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lV5E9F3tJuw Although Crosby/Bowie is another favourite. Although this years number one is Rage Against the Machine 'Killing in the Name Of'... -
Confuses me too. Right Guard is supposed to be the most difficult interior position to play and center the easiest, so your most talented interior lineman should be RG (assuming he is capable of playing that position), all other things being equal. Wood looks like he will be a good RG, Levitre looks solid at LG and Hangartner is not a disaster at C. Why mix things up?

This Day In History: Pearl Harbor Bombed And So It Began
Britbillsfan replied to Steely Dan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
i seem to remember their army lost out to the navy as regards to production and resources (there were two major Japanese schools of thought in the lead up to the war reflecting on where they thought they should land grab). And aircraft were seen as secondary to surface ships and fleet submarines. They made nice stuff for the navy. Subs were top notch, the big battleships pretty good, cruisers solid. But they got all the resources. And they only really had enough resources for one of their service arms, and even then it was insufficient. If it was not for the Washington Treaty they would have had less carriers and more battleships in any case and Pearl may have been impossible as a result. -
Italy 'deserved' to win the following championship based on the scandalous officiating in S Korea. It was like 11 men against 14 out there. Really, really awful. I could not bellieve how bad it was. And coming from an England fan (Hand of Freakin' God and all) that is saying a lot. (And the calls against the Bills over the years were nothing compareed to the **** Italy had to put up with, in my mind. Seriously).

Only 5000ish tickets per game are available as is for fans from a country. The others are sold as part of 'packages' which are largely purchased by companies and holiday firms (who then sell them in lager packages to include flights, hotel rooms, etc). If all the tickets were just put up on sale fans from England would not only try to buy every ticket for their group games, but it is likely every possible game in the knockout stages would be sold out as well. Just with the economic situation (and we have been hit even harder than pretty much everywhere else (barring basket cases like Iceland)) fans can not afford the packages over here. In Germany although the stadiums were not full of English fans there were vast numbers at the football parks, here fans hung out in big crowds, watching on immense screens but enjoying the atmosphere of what was a huge party (or the longest, biggest tailgate ever, if you prefer).

Spain and Brazil look to have the talent. Germany is always interesting, but their players are not all that great (some pretty good ones and they are a superb team, but individually a number of squads look stronger). Their 'keeper committed suicide last month which would be a kick in the nuts for the team. It might make them play out of their skins or have little impact. I like the Germans these days, there was a time when they were among the worst culprits for cheating (some pretty impressive dives back in the day), but they seem to play in a more spotsmanlike manner now.

But I wish I had your confidence England should be able to progress and their recent form under Capello has generally been superb. They are in with a good shout, but over the years we have underperformed or found ways to lose which are heartbreaking. Of course it is the first time we have had such a good manager since the finals in Italy.

Asian Carp May Have Breached Barrier For Lake

Funny guy. Around these parts people who want to make a splash news wise make crop circles (or crop weird geometric shapes if they are feeling particularly creative) and then laugh at the idiots who come to look at the 'proof' of UFOs. -
I thought one of players left the first half early because he got poked in the eye. But other than that, a minor miracle!

Hoax is a bit kind. Deliberately giving relatives false hope seems to be pretty evil in my mind. -

A lot were brought in during the 19th century. The grey squirrels and crayfish have pretty much destoyed the native species. The catfish and mink are a menace to just about everything sharing a body of water with them. Crayfish were introduced as a food resource. Minks were farmed. Deer and wallabies were in zoos. All escaped. We used to have a real coypu problem in the east of the country, but a determined extermination effort wiped them out. The are large predatory cats (probably panthers) in parts of the country. There is now in place a pet passport system, so vaccinated pets can be easily transported without the long period of quarantine. -

Just watched a video of this guy and it looked his 'helper' typing using the poor chap's hand whilst he blithely does not even look at the keyboard (or even seem aware of what is going on around him). If he is not even looking at the keyboard how can he 'guide' the person typing. Looks like bs to me. Unfortunately. I'm with Randi with this one. -

This is happening everywhere. Plenty of invasive species in the UK. Parakeets. Signal Crayfish. Mink. Wels Catfish. Chinese Mitten Crab. Zebra Mussels. Muntjac Deer. Grey Squirrel. Edible Dormouse. Wallabies (!). Knotweed. Hogweed. Ruddy Ducks (ruddy ducks!). Canadian Geese. Bullfrog. Flatworm. Jellyfish. Some more invasive than others, but parts of our ecosystem are being hammered (especially rivers). -
Fewell making players practice in pads
Britbillsfan replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Factor in crowd noise. If you defer when on the road half the crowd are not back in their seats when the second half starts. Means your QB gets one drive where the 12th man has very little effect. At home - you want the 12th man from the start. The noise might disrupt an opposing QB at the start of the first half, but do you want him facing a much quieter crowd at the start of the second? Pesonally, I'd defer every time. -
It won't be this season. We no longer have enough uninjured LBs to put three on the field, let alone four...

To be a tad pedantic. Mosquitos don't kill anybody. It's the diseases they carry. -
Also the poor sap in The Wickerman, and a baddie in Hot Fuzz. He was one of the first UK TV actors to play a hard man role in the early 70s. Did a lot of stage work - probably influenced his loud style of acting.
