One of the Bills supposed strengths: Safety
Britbillsfan replied to Got_Wood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
+1 Schobel is definitely being missed since none of the current D can provide half the pressure he did. The LBs on our unit are especially bad. -
A Few Thoughts About The Game
Britbillsfan replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We need a pass rush before we can throw our DBs under the bus. Last year they were a good unit. This year awful. Pretty much the same personnel back there, just that without a pass rush worth squat they are going to get picked on all year. Need something from at least one of the DEs and a lot more from the LB corps. Although the way they have been this year I am tempted to write LB corpse when discussing them. And both Whitner and Byrd had a bad game. But the LBs as a unit are worse. Again. -
Maybe that Crocodile on that flight in the Congo was dressed as a muslim. Everyone panics, runs to the front of the plane. It crashes. Mission accomplished. Frankly I am wondering if he was not just fired for being stupid. I mean, if you are a muslim !@#$head terrorist then the last thing you would wear on a plane (or anywhere else you might be planning to carry out an attack) is muslim clothing. Hooded sweatshirts, baseball caps and being clean shaven would be the order of the day.

Kudos to Britain if they pull this off

To be fair they were not the only reasons. But they were two huge ones. Large Shipping Containers and reduced trade tariffs kind of killed British manufacturing as well. But the fact British goods in the early 70s were technologically backward, badly built & designed (buy two and you might have enough parts to assemble something which works), looked crap, were expensive AND were delivered late (if at all) had a lot more to do with it. And the left in the UK blame Thatcher for destroying the manufacturing industry because she did not throw money at those same doomed companies and bankrupt the country (again) while doing so. BTW Our left is worse than your left. -
They did try the blitz but were ineffective. In fact I think were made to pay, so they dropped the bliz later in the game and were maginally better.

I think there are a number of reasons. 1. Bell and Wood have been coming back from injury, as the season progresses you would expect them to get better. 2. Bell, Wood, Levitre were rookies/1st year starters last year and are more seasoned. With Bell, especially, the extra experience is vital. I would expect this element to continue to improve throughout the year and well into next. 3. The line (except for Howard) is getting more time together and beginning to gel. 4. NO GREEN! 5. WHen pass protection eventually breaks down Fitz is able to still make some plays rather than pathetic little check downs or a sack.

Congratulations Steve Johnson!

Imagine what woudl happen if our receivers tried to get couple of extra yards and end up fumbling rather than just stepping out of bounds or going to ground when tackled. The board would light up. Oh, wait... -

It seems like we had a halfway decent RT today as well (as in: not a total cluster !@#$). For the first time this season. -

At some point peace will have to be made. This means talking to people, many of whom will be pretty repugnant. If you can get rid of the most extreme and worst of the worst you can then think about ending the war. On your terms, more or less. We talked to the PIRA for a long time before peace finally came. Sooner or later the same will happen to Afghanistan. Of course Al Qaeda should always remain in the crosshairs. No real way to talk to those !@#$s.

Have to have some crumbs. The UK relies on banking a lot more than most of the world, largely because it was just about the only part of the economy not savaged by the fiasco of the 1960s/70s (when 98% tax on investment income and powerful unions effectively destroyed UK manufacturing industry) so I imagine when it all clms down a bit the banks will be a little less harshly treated than it appears right now. Blair/Brown really shafted the finances of this country. If they had not been such a couple of numpties then UK public finances would have been strong enough to pretty much cope with the crap of the last few years. -
Felser's Article and our FO...
Britbillsfan replied to rpcolosi's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Who knows what has happened with previous drafts. For all we know Modrak may have said something like - 'Ngata. Great prospect - some issues but really fills a need. I recommend him. Oh, you want a safety??? Let's see. Well the Whitner guy is probably the closest to what you want, but I really like Ngata...' Of course he could be the chap who pushed Whitner/McCargo/McGahee/McKelvin/Hardy/Ellis/Maybin/Spiller on the FO with his recommendations. Hopefully the changes in the FO will start to replace glitzy prospects with gritty players. BTW - not saying ALL those picks are bad players but they were not necessarily good picks for the needs of the Bills. -
You could care less? So you do care then. How much though? Is it an all encompassing passion? Or only a little? Enquiring minds want to know... Personally I also do care. 3D to me is a gimmick to try and get people to stop ripping off movies using the internet and to go into cinemas. It might work for a few years (at most) but ultimately it is futile, people will rip off movies and less will be made, or will be made with less budget/talent. I prefer to go to a movie without wearing naff special glasses. Leave Kiwis alone. Just because they happen to be the flavour of the month (decade?) does not mean they all are B/C listers. They go all the way to Z you know. Personally how about Ian McShane as Smaug? 'You @:$%S%^kers want to come into my mo£$%^%^ing mountain and take my gold? I'll £$%^ing slice you open with my $£%£ing talons, you £$%^ing midget $%^&s!'

Sacks? With this current D the occassional bit of pressure would be nice. No pressure = WRs getting open consistantly and no INTs. Some complained about previous years' pass rushing but at least we got pressure. Not all the time (a pipe dream) but at least it existed.

You would think that after the doors almost gave way the second time he would not ram them again.

Trent's explanation for good preseason
Britbillsfan replied to BillnutinHouston's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There is no doubt that this preseason was far, far superior than the last several offensively. Despite it only being preseason the improved play gives me a measure of hope for the forthcoming season after years of truly dire performances on that side of the ball. -

Comparing last year to this year:
Britbillsfan replied to PJBrown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The switch to a 3-4 is going to be tough. It is possible the team manages to pull that off, but I do not think it likely. Any gains we make in the O are likely to be offset to some degree by the D not having all the personnel needed for a 3-4 (not yet, anyway). There are so many unknowns with the Bills this year who knows what their record will be. 5/6/7 wins seems reasonable to me.
