Why not give McCarron an honest chance?
Batman1876 replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It’s all about odds. Get an elite quality prospect and you have 80% odds of getting a long term starter. If you settle for a more flawed prospect then those odds drop fast. -
I think we are in great shape

For those who favor building a good roster to cover for mediocre QB play how did that work for us recently? We’ve had good talent on D, we’ve had good WRs and we’ve had the best rushing attack. Our roster has looked worse because of our QB, notice how often players leave Buffalo and become stars elsewhere. -

4 first round picks, 1 second, 1 third, 2 fourth, 2 fifth and 1 seventh. That is what we have spent on QBs starting with Rob Johnson. Did it hurt less spreading that investment out? Of course not it just spread the mediocre QB play over 20 years. Investing a bunch now to get an elite prospect may not work out but it is still better than dying by inches like we have for 20 years. -

There have only been 2 Luck caliber prospects ever, Luck and Elway. The only way to get a QB is to take a risk or hope you are picking 1st in the once a generation draft with the next Luck in it. -

You are more likely to get a good QB by trading up and getting one than you are spending all the other picks on a QB. -

So many people seem to prefer taking low probability long shots and hoping to beat the odds. If we don’t move up to get a Big Ben and instead decide that Losman and a few extra picks will be the better choice I’ll cry. -
Since Kelly retired and since the Browns returned they have gone through 30 QBs and we have gone through 20. Only one of those was a top rated prospect (Tim Couch). That’s 5 late firsts and a bunch of late round picks, trades for other teams backups, free agents and trades. 0/49 when taking the discount route. Now even the Browns look to be swinging for the fences. I can’t live in a world where we out Browns the Browns.

If we cannot trade up for our QB

I mean running through 29 QBs in 19 seasons and always shopping in the bargain bin hoping you finally find a QB who will stick. -
Kinda fun to watch : Rugby player Jordan Mailata

If we miss one of the top QBs then we are well on our way to being the Browns. -
I don't think the Browns are taking a QB at 1 or 4..

Joe Thomas Just retired, over his 11 years he blocked for 20 different starting Quarterbacks! 20! Any GM coming in knows that QB has been the heart of this team's problem they will do everything they can to make sure that whoever replaces Thomas does not have to block for another 20 starting quarterbacks. -
How does this class look in March before the draft compared to how other classes looked in March before the draft? I'm sure it will be hard to avoid hindsight but I'm curious how everyone thinks this group of prospects stacks up to previous years. Where would these prospects fall if they were in another year's class? Do you think this year offers the most prospects? some of the best prospects? or do you think that there isn't anyone who really shines? One think we can all agree on this is a better crop of prospects to chose from than EJ's year.

Bills GM: Not certain we move up to take QB

They don't all need to be interested, one of them just has to think that the others are. -

The other teams have 1 team who can give them multiple picks this year, we have 3 teams to trade with (NY, Indy, Cleveland) so we do have some leverage. -

Who else really wants a first round MLB?

Since the game changed to favor the passing game more the AFC rep for the Superbowl has been Brady, Manning, or Ben all but 1 year. QB is what matters if you think a guy is a franchise QB and you have the draft capital to get him then there is no excuse for not getting your guy. In 2 years those 3 dominant QBs will be gone and the Conference will be up for grabs for the first time in 15 years, we need to take every chance we can to be the team with the QB to step into that void. -

I want a gm who says absolute gibberish when asked questions. "We look at the draft like a dog looks at the magna carta, our visual preceptors are always tuned in to the quantum fluctuation and the gamma photons. Our plan is to jimmy the johnsons and don the shulas. We will not be passive or aggressive we will be passive and or aggressive to varying degrees. In 2000 years when the kalaxans are first heard over the nebulonic speaker storms we will be the team we were meant to be..." -
Josh Allen is like a cannon operated by monkeys. Lots of teams think they can train those monkeys to operate the cannon like experts but more often than not the monkeys just blow up your house and you end up looking for a new home.

First Pick @ 12 - Not a QB? How 'bout Vita?
Batman1876 replied to Houston's #1 Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How has this type of Draft strategy been working out for the Browns? How did it work for the Bills in 2004. -
The last QBs to never achieve a 60% season in college and still succeed in the NFL playedin the 1980’s.
