  1. This was a worse bet than when I picked the Generals over the Globetrotters.
  2. I don't think his stats tell the whole story. He was much much worse than his stats imply... hello ...hello... is this thing on... I'll show myself out. I think "The preseason Peterman" needs to become an offical term here at TBD for any preseason hero who stinks in real games. "That dude was a real preseason peterman".
  3. I was impressed with how calm Allen was (especially compared to Peterman who seemed to be calling the crisis hotline midplay). Hes a big tough kid who appeared calm and is used to playing games where there is more talent on the other side of the ball than there is around him. I think he could start, it will not look good but if he can learn from it we'll know a lot more about who he is and if he can play.
  4. I just went over to the browns board, their Tyrod conversation there sounds very familiar. Half think he stinks and Mayfield should start and half blame the system and other players around him. Even with Tyrod we lose yesterday if Browns fans are fed up after 1 game and a tie how bad would things be here after 3 years and a loss.
  5. I did some stat checking and it turns out there are 10 other guys on the defense plaiyng with him, apparently one player is not solely responsible for stopping the 11 guys on offense. But I'm curious did you see a player in the draft who could have fixed both our offensive line and our WR corps? Because if we could have drafted such a player I'd totally agree with you.
  6. Darius saved us cap money last year and this year, despite the dead cap. His savings were used to sign Star its basically a push. Cordy and Tyrod saved us 15 mil in cap space this year. That accounts for the salary of Davis, Murphy, AJ and Bodine, meaning we only would have had space for the depth guys we signed. This team is probably better with Darius Tyrod and Glenn but its still not a good team with them. I'll take the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th we got for those players to build for the future over having those three guys make our terrible team a little better.
  7. We needed help all over the field and had limited resources to fill those holes. Getting a stud QB and MLB in the draft when both are positions of need is a good move. Could we have spent our 20 mil of cap space better than on AJ, Star, Murphy and Davis? Sure. Could we have filled all our needs with that cash? Nope.
  8. Doesn’t he have pending legal charges? And what was shameful the pay cut?
  9. Whaley was the one who created this cap situation which is why we have depth players starting. The best you could say is that maybe the basement wouldn’t have been so low. But I don’t trust him to have made our ceiling higher.
  10. Tre, Dion and Milano all look to be good picks. Jones is a question mark, and peterman and Tanner were misses. That’s not a bad draft. You are right that the pro scouts look dubious, but it also seems like they were trying to find hidden gems in the discount bin.
  11. Tied for 10th worst all time based on QBR.
  12. What makes you think their scouts are bad? Edmunds looks to be a very promising player, if take him over 3 players who would have taken up about 30% of the cap.
  13. So you’d rather have those guys than Edmunds?
  14. You hit it on the head, the cap savings, the draft pick and getting rid of a player underperforming g his contract.
  15. Keeping those 3 would have cost 25 mil more than their dead cap hit. I don’t get why people talk about star as a big signing, he was a discount veteran, that’s what he has played like. Look at Beane’s situation and the resources he had. To address it and then the bad roster makes a lot more sense. 1 draft and 25 mil in cap space is not enough to rebuild a team. If we kept Tyrod, Darius and Glenn then we would have had about 15 mil to sign our rookies and free agents.
  16. The franchise tag for a wide receiver was 16 mills we didn’t have leverage with Watkins, Cordy would have had a cap hit of 14 mil, and Darius was a 20 mil cap hit. We did not have the money. Darby was bad at zone and we picked up EJ Gaines in the Sammy trade making Darby expendable, so we used him to get a draft pick and a WR to replace Sammy.
  17. So he’s another raw developmental guy. Great athlete limited playing experience. Sounds like a good guy to have on the roster this year.
  18. We couldn’t afford to resign Watkins who got 16 mil. Darius was the biggest underperformer based of salary in the NFL, we saved 54 mil on him. Glenn was an injury problem, he already got hurt this year. Darby was average at best this past year, and he can’t play zone we got a 3rd for him. The cap was the biggest player in a lot of these decisions. Exactly how were they supposed to fix both lines, the wideouts the linebackers and the QB with one draft and 20 mil in cap space. They picked their spots and did their best.
  19. McBeane inhereted a bloated salary cap witch necesitatated jetesoning talent just to make ends meet. If we had kept Darius, Tyrod, and Glenn we wouldn’t have even had cash to sign rookies. Even if Star and Murphy end up failing on the line we only made them the 227th and 355th highest paid players. In other words marginal starter salary. So we had a team with salary crunch, weak Oline, QB, WR, Dline and LB. that is not a receipt for success. They addressed D line and QB. So far it looks like they drafted well and that their marginal starters are playing like marginal starters. Trust the process clearly meant, get ready for a rebuild, so far there is no reason to believe the rebuild is doomed.
  20. If foster is so good why did he catch 8 passes per year at Bama. Not being snarky just wonder what his story was there, because he does seem good at getting open deep.
  21. The post is about judging Beane’s success. So far he has made the playoffs 100% of the time. He has had one draft and One free agent signing period and none of those guys have had a chance to play yet so judging them is impossible. What do you think “consistent success” looks like for a guy whose been on the job for 16 months.
  22. They have made it to the playoffs 100% of the time. If Allen is good they will no doubt continue making the playoffs.
  23. I don’t disagree with you, you need a vet to put in front of the rookie, obviously AJ did not work out in that role. I don’t think that vet can be a mediocre QB who’s been on the roster for 3 years. That won’t work out. Because when Tyrod puts up his third straight 7 point game the controversy will create itself. If the QB is new in town people will be more likely to accept the slump. I order to have a successful place holder vet they need to be new in town or as good as Alex Smith, Tyrod was neither.
  24. Watkins and Darby are Elite? Do you think the bills were going to sign Watkins after his contract expired? So we got a second round pick and EJ Gaines for him and lost exactly nothing. As for Darby he was outplayed last year by Gaines, if you want to criticize, criticize not resigning Gains not the trade.
  25. They brought in Gaines and Matthews. So those were replacements. Gaines outplayed Darby last year and Watkins bolted in free agency. I'm guessing they figured they did not want to pay Watkins 16 mil per year.
