  1. I would ask this, where would these wide receivers rank in last year's draft? You've got London, Wilson, Olave, Williams, Dotson...I think all of those guys would have been drafted in the first before any of these guys. (Obviously Pickens as well but he went later than he should have). Johnston to me is interesting because of the upside. The rest I really don't think are first-round picks at all. Same with the OL. Pete Skoronski is a second-round pick if he comes out in that group. Torrence is probably a 3rd. The top five TEs are all better than McBride from last year IMO. When it comes to defensive players, they are right up there with those top guys from last year IMO. This year, more than most, I think the Bills really need to stay true to their board, and I know people get upset, the BPA with the highest upside and true first-round grade at 27 is probably a defensive player or a TE.
  2. Yeah, I think you will hear him talk up guys like Gabe Davis and Terrell Bernard and the Benford to safety stuff, the same way they talked up Dane Jackson last year. Same deal with the linemen, all in an effort to hide his intentions.
  3. Yeah I'll pass on Robinson. I just don't think he provides what this team needs. If the Rams cut him, take a peak.
  4. Thanks. Simpson maybe is hurt by the whole Isaiah Simmons thing. But I do think Simpson is definitely an in box off ball backer. He oozes the process stuff graduating in three years and coming from a military family in North Carolina. I think UFA will kind of be a tell. If they sign a guy like Germaine Pratt for 3 years 24 million, then I think they might be out of the LB market. If they start talking up Terrel Bernard and sign a 1 year stop gap, then I would think Simpson and maybe Campbell will be on the table early. How early? Who knows? but I do think he and Campbell continue to rise in the process just because they are such productive, solid dudes.
  5. According to walterfootball here is who the Bills have met with at the combine: Jordan Addison, Wide Receiver, USC Adetomiwa Adebawore, Defensive End, Northwestern Julius Brents, Cornerback, Kansas State Ji'Ayir Brown, Safety, Penn State Josh Downs, Wide Receiver, North Carolina Zay Flowers, Wide Receiver, Boston College Michael Mayer, Tight End, Notre Dame Riley Moss, Cornerback, Iowa Jayden Reed, Wide Receiver, Michigan State Jammie Robinson, Cornerback, Florida State Luke Schoonmaker, Tight End, Michigan Trenton Simpson, Linebacker, Clemson Nolan Smith, Outside Linebacker, Georgia Tuli Tuipulotu, Defensive End, USC Darnell Washington, Tight End, Georgia Michael Wilson, Wide Receiver, Stanford Byron Young, Defensive End, Tennessee also according to others: Bijan Robinson, RB, Texas Tyjae Spears, RB, Tulane O’Cyrus Torrence, OG, Florida Bryan Bresee, DT, Clemson Dee Winters, LB, TCU (senior bowl) tight ends, edge, Dbs, and WRs, just two linebackers and one OL. I am sure I maybe missed one so feel free to add.
  6. Antonio Johnson with 8 bench press reps and 31 inch vert. Really? How is that possible? Brian Branch workout seems ok. Maybe he slips a little. My guy Sydney Brown tested well. Love that guy.
  7. Yeah I wouldn’t say cursed. Maybe unlucky. The blue chip player who was supposed to go top ten and fell was Gerorge Karlaftis. I guess it was because short arms. We passed. We also passed on the generational center. This year we need all 4 of those QBs to go and for people to reach for need on corners. That could push a Brian Branch down. But I think the TEs and WRs all go and people reach for OL needs. That’s why I think a blue chip defensive player falls. You want blue chip? Chances are it’s either a defensive guy or Bijan Robinson.
  8. @GunnerBillthoughts on Trenton Simpson? He seems more in line with what they look for typically. Came off the edge a lot last year, a bit more in the box this year. I like him a lot, but I love Campbell too. Just a different type of backer. Drew Sanders seems like a Tremaine clone, with more playmaking ability, bug I am not sure he is a fit either.
  9. Main targets: LB Germaine Pratt -Former safety turned linebacker with an edge. Played for McDermott guy Dave Doeren. Backup plan: Bobby Owereke, Cole Holcomb or Drue Tranquill. WR OBJ -talked about a lot. The only guy truly available and attainable who provides what this team needs. G Issac Semualo or Connor McGovern -talked about these guys a lot. Instant starter at guard. CB Byron Murphy (safety convert) -up and down career so far. A slow corner with a high football IQ and great ball skills. I think he would excel at safety Cheap adds: G David Edwards -Kromer guy who was looking elite and got hurt. Still just 25 and could be a cheap upside add. C/G Michael Deiter -Solid depth linemen who can play multiple positions WR Mack Hollins -huge receiver who has good speed and is an excellent gunner. Also a really fun dude and McBrane would have seen him a lot at UNC. Think Kumerow with receiver ability and personality.
  10. I’m a coach. My Dline is allowed to take 1 roughing the passer penalty a game. Rules are, it must be close (can’t be egregious), it has to be on first or second down, in minus territory in the first quarter, and can’t be dirty, needs to be nice hard clean pop. Rattles a high school qb pretty good.
  11. Jack Campbell 100%. I like Simpson and Sanders too and probably ok with it. If they fall, Brian Branch, Van Ness, Nolan Smith. Tyree Wilson, Jalen Carter, Myles Murphy if for some crazy reason they fall. Top corner who might fall.
  12. I like Ike. I always did. But he is 29 in October and coming off his second achilles. He was a raw, late bloomer at Iowa and took some time in the NFL. The notion that he is young with upside is misguided and inaccurate. At the same time I think he represents safisfactory, cheap, functional depth. But if he is starting at guard come September, something went wrong.
  13. I can’t wait for the controversy surrounding the possibility of your face of the franchise named Pennix
  14. He is 100% gone. Unless his market craters with all of these interesting linebackers in the draft. With all the spread RPO stuff these days, the QB doesn’t matter as much in the college game. Load up on skill players RBs and WRs. Find a smart kid who won’t turn the ball over and you can win a national championship. I think that is what we are seeing with these guys.
  15. If I needed a QB, I would take Richardson. I like the raw athlete every time. I loved Justin Herbert coming out, guys like Trey Lance…it’s 50/50 but if you are taking a shot on a guy, this guy is the kind of guy I would shoot my shot on. I hate small qbs and game manager guys. I would make the argument that his presence at times raised the play of others. Like Torrence the guard, the big thing is that he doesn’t give up sacks. When you watch him play, Richardson bails out Torrence a lot. JMO, but I get why the scouts are drooling.
  16. it would annoy me if the Pats took him in round 2. I don’t think he gets by the Lions. I think we would have to take him in round 1
  17. Jack Campbell is a monster. A little slower than Tremaine, but just as big with Luke Keuchly’s instincts and crazy explosive numbers and ridiculous agility. This is the guy I want as our new Mike. I don’t know where he gets drafted, but he’s a dude. This is the actual next Brian Urlacher/Luke Keuchly
  18. Ideally? Dawkins Bates Morse Issac Seumalo or Connor McGovern Brown Likely: Dawkins David Edwards Morse Bates Brown
  19. I saw him on the ground a lot, which is one of those red flags for O-line play. But I like him. He isn't my favorite. Looking forward to his drills this week. I like Avila, and I would love Torrence in round 2, though he doesn't get there. I also like guys like Steen to move inside. Jaxson Kirkland is pretty interesting to me as well. Cody Mauch looks like the kind of guy they look for and I think he will test well. I really like Nick Broeker, not sure if he is a day starter, but I like his game.
  20. I'm going to keep beating the dead horse, but this is why I love Germaine Pratt. I know he got some heat for calling out his teammate for pushing Mahomes out of bounds. I loved what he did. The play was incredibly stupid and I am glad Pratt called him out. Pratt is like Diggs but on defense. He wants to win. He has an edge, a toughness to him and he will be demanding of his teammates. McDermott's Carolina teams had guys like Greg Hardy, Thomas Davis, Charles Johnson, and Luke Keuchly. Josh Norman was a bit annoying with some of his antics, but the dude had an edge. We are sorely missing that edge. That super bowl team also had Jared Allen, and Cortland Finnegan. In Philly he had guys like Brian Dawkins, Trent Cole, Jason Babin, and Jeremiah Trotter, just tough nasty players who demanded of each other and other teams feared. As much as I was never really a huge Jerry Hughes guy, his attitude brought something to the defense that felt missing this year.
  21. I'd do it in a heartbeat. I don't think you will find a big receiver upgrade in free agency or where we are drafting.
  22. Replace Tremaine with Germaine Pratt and that is already a massive step in terms of bringing that edge and nastiness to the D
  23. Unfortunately, there are exactly zero receivers in the draft that do all of those things. For the mid round guys, it’s not even close to meeting that criteria. Maybe the top guys like Johnston have a shot, those guys are out of reach. There aren’t really guys in free agency who meet that criteria either. Basically it’s OBJ, or bust if you want those six criteria. If you really want all that, you are basically looking for another Diggs. It would have to OBJ or be a vet for trade.
  24. I took that in a little differently. He said that they want that 5th wide receiver spot to have special teams ability. On the surface it sounds like Beane let Hodgins go to keep Kumerow. That is not true. He let Hodgins go to keep McKenzie/Shakir…Beane is basically saying that Hodgins was not in their top 4 and didn’t play special teams so he was expendable. The mistake they made here was keeping McKenzie over Hodgins. You can totally justify keeping Hodgins over McKenzie if you intend to have him be a part of the offense. But you can’t justify keeping Hodgins over guys you need on gameday, special teams guys. If I recall, it was at the trade deadline when they had a bit of a roster crunch adding Marlowe and Tre White coming off IR and they probably thought they could slip him through.
  25. I could see it. I do think there will be a meltdown when it is a defensive player. However, I don't think they will be willing to rely on a rookie at that spot. I like Sydney Brown just because he seems like a really good projection into our system having played in that Lovie Smith-style Tampa 2. But I think the linebacker and safety holes are more likely to be filled with young vets. Perhaps another underappreciated slow corner (like Hyde and Poyer were) who can make the switch. I just don't think they will be willing to stick a rookie in that spot aside from maybe Brian Branch or Brown. I love Johnson, but I'm not sure if it is the perfect fit. But that is JMO.
