I believe was an off ball stack backer which is exactly what he does in a 4-2-5. Plus Chicago just signed him to do the exact same thing he did here and play middle tampa 2. He definitely does not have the instincts, he does make their defense better for what they want to do.
This notion that we are now going to get gashed by tight ends and running backs is silly. We have been getting gashed by tight ends and running backs for the last 5 years. Sure Tremaine is big. But he is so easily manipulated in coverage by good QBs that it doesn’t matter. He looks great against guys like Davis Mills and Zach Wilson.
Watch the 4.65 forty Jack Cambell take a zone drop and literally know exactly what route is being run behind him like he has eyes in the back of his head. That’s Kuechly and Urlacher and that is what is, and will likely always be, missing in Tremaine’s game.
He just signed with a team for which his role will be exactly the same. But he is getting paid. Eberflus is a Rod Marinelli disciple, same school of Tony Dungy Tampa 2 as Lovie Smith, Leslie Frazier, Dick Jauron. Also bend but don’t break.
This could be a sign Cole Holcomb is going elsewhere. I think he is a good fit here. But coming off an injury there is some risk.
I have no idea who that is.
Totally. The point of having Tremaine is that Tampa 2, take away the middle of the field. If he’s playing outside it kind of takes away that impact imo. So I don’t think his role will Be much different, though they will play some base.
I don’t. Eberflus’s defense is 4-3, but they are 4-2-5 80% of the time. Something like that. It’s similar to our defense. I’m guessing they play Tremaine at Mike and Edwards at Will with Sanborn at Sam. But the majority of the time it’s going to be Edwards and Tremaine on the field imo.
