Buffalo News analysis of Tremaine Edmunds this season
MrEpsYtown replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think they should try to find a way to keep Edmunds. I think he has shown a ton of improvement this season. If not his replacement won’t come from FA because he really is the best guy on the market. Therefore it would have to come from the draft. I am in love with Jack Campbell. Like thats my draft crush. Also Noah Sewell is a monster. Both are great fits for what we do. The combine will probably tell us where they get drafted. Campbell instincts are off the charts and he’s as big as Tremaine, maybe not as fast. Inside linebacker is a back end of the first round type pick typically. -
Man not the best draft in the world for us with all those guys gone. Interesting fact, we have a good number of players on our roster who came out of that draft: Micah Hyde, Jordan Poyer, Xavier Rhodes, Sam Martin, David Quessenberry, Matt Barkley, AJ Klein Obviously missed on hall of famers like Travis Kelce and Deandre Hopkins. But its a crapshoot

I was a huge Gabbert guy in 2011. In my mind he was the big, big armed, big hands guy who was super young for the draft and perfect for Buffalo. Amazingly he is only 33 years old right now. I used to crush it with Gabbert and Mizzou in NCAA football. I feel like he would have been a really nice fit in Chan Gailey’s offense. Obviously he was a bust, but I do feel for him as he had 7 different offensive coordinators in the first 7 years of his career, which is just absurd. He’s turned into a solid backup, but I have always been a closet fan of his. Im glad he was able to save those people.

Leslie Frazier expected to be "in the mix" for Broncos HC job
MrEpsYtown replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think it is just the reluctance to hire retreads. It seems people want to hire the young guy around the league. But for a franchise that needs stability, Frazier is a great fit. -
Here is the list of free agent OL and it isn’t the worst list, a few high RAS guys and Kromer guys as well: https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/all/offensive-line// I am rosterbating here, but I would trade pick 32 for Chris Lindstrom. A guard like that changes a lot. Not sure why Atlanta would do it aside for collecting draft capital to get a QB.

Frazier makes sense because it allows you to hire that hotshot OC to “fix” Wilson and it insulates that coach from all the pressure. Nobody aside from a Payton or Sean McVay is going to be able to fix Wilson and run a team. It’s essentially the Bills model. McDermott was hired to oversee the whole thing and Daboll was hired to make Josh Allen happen. He was able to focus all his time and attention on the QB without worrying about head coach duties. You bring in Frazier who gets you instant credibility to fix the franchise and let the OC fix the QB. Frazier did fire Darell Bevell in Minnesota as the scapegoat, but Bevell makes a ton of sense as he made Wilson the guy. Wilson was his project. Perhaps an Alex Van Pelt makes sense as the OC from that Shannahan tree. I know he is the OC with the Browns but he doesn’t call plays. I think, outside of getting Payton, a Frazier makes a ton of sense for the Broncos. -
Russell Wilson and His Divisive Entourage

I guess whatever he was presenting himself as was just to win the job interview. -
Russell Wilson and His Divisive Entourage

It’s sad really. I remember watching the senior bowl practices and being so impressed by how humble Wilson was. He was out to prove himself, taking extra reps and mimicking plays when the other QBs were in. I didn't want to draft him, because he was small, but I was clearly wrong about that aspect of his game. How do you go from this humble hard working dude with the ugly girlfriend at the draft to whatever he has turned out to be? It’s sad. -
NFL Week # 16 - Bills at Bears - post game thread
MrEpsYtown replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Always a tough spot. Kicking a field goal on 4th and 4 sucks too. RPO on 4th and three not the worst call. You can’t ask the Bills to take a knee there. -
yep. The way the jets fans cheered that other dude for completing a 4 yard pass was the fans final farewell to this dude.

I saw Hines in the slot once or twice as well. I dont think McKenzie brings anything to the game. Those two guys and Hines should be getting those reps. Cook as well. -

I thought Ryan Bates was excellent at center today. Great feet, movement skills and plays with more power than Morse. I really feel we are in good shape there. Van Roten is a better guard than center and that is clearly obvious. I thought he was good today as well. I suppose the Chicago D line isn’t the best, but those guys got it done. Ike looked good in that small sample. I also thought this was Saffold’s best game yet. -
I think Morse finishes out his contract, so two more years. But I think he retires after that. I don’t think that center is a massive need because the presence of Ryan Bates on the roster. I think he is good guard and a really good center. I think we need one high end interior linemen to replace Saffold who has been terrible. See what Jenkins cost with his extension, that upgrade will have to come either by trade or the draft imo.

Re-visiting the 2021 Draft - the EDGE class
MrEpsYtown replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
He may be AJ Epenesa 2.0. Just doesn't have that bend or explosion. Perhaps he would be better suited in a 2 gap type of defense. -

I remember a lot of people wanting Oweh that year and being disappointed that we picked Rousseau. I really liked Javonte Williams and Asante Samuel. And I believe the rumors were that we were going to choose Eric Stokes who the Packers grabbed. How is Stokes doing ? -
Brown still has that baby deer thing going on. He is so long and athletic, it is easy to get out of whack in terms of chain and technique. I think at the very least he becomes a Mike McGlinchey type. But these long athletic guys just take longer sometimes because they have to be very sound to generate power and leverage.
-
Man Colin Brown is up there with worst offensive linemen I have ever seen play. And we have cycled through some epically terrible linemen.
-
I think he has been okay, but as a second round pick this is year 4, so he is a UFA at the end. They have not offered him an extension. He is their Harrison Phillips. Beloved by the fans, does a ton of work in the community, great teammate, but the production is up and down.
-
I agree with this. It is way easier to find a guard and Bates has tremendous center traits.
-
Yeah I mean he's a body, but I don't think he can play anymore. I am all for a good redemption story, but his speed and short area quickness is gone. The definition of a JAG at this point.
