  1. I’d like to see more Rousseau in that situation as well
  2. Yeah I think the rotation works when there is little to no drop off in play. We don’t have that here. I assure you that Nick Bosa and Hassan Reddick are on the field for all critical third downs regardless of whose turn it is.
  3. Probably my favorite one so far:
  4. He is the linebacker equivalent of what the Giants are going through with Daniel Jones right now. Good, not great player who you invested a high pick in and have spent 5 years developing, who is going to command a huge contract that aren’t really worth. I think it’s a tough spot.
  5. Yes 100%. Aeneas Williams as well. But all those guys switched in the twilight of their careers, whereas Aaron, Hyde, and Poyer were slow corners who made the switch. Keep a lookout for those 4.55 corners in UFA and at the combine who could be potential safety converts.
  6. Yeah i like a trade back as well, unless one of those receivers are there. There seems to be a consensus that there are only like 15i-sh first round players in the draft, so I would prefer to have an extra 2nd 3rd or 4th (I think the strength is in that range.)
  7. I don't think anyone knows for sure. But It was a discussion pre-draft and a projection and McBeane has discussed it. Personally, I wouldn't move him until he proves he can't play corner
  8. I hear you. I think there is a zero percent chance they do that. But they have done some strange things in the past. Unless one of those receivers drops to 27 or they take Bijan Robinson or a tight end, I think the value will be defense round 1, defense and OL round 2-3, and WR round 4. JMO.
  9. Oh this regime will 100% draft a corner somewhere in the draft. They have actually done a really good job at the DB position. It’s one of the least of my worries as a fan honestly. There are really interesting DBs in the draft, and there are some slower zone corners in FA and the draft who could transition the safety the same way Hyde and Poyer did.
  10. Also, this is my guy right now. Trained and recruited into a Lovie Smith defense. Tailor made for what we do. He actually reminds me of Poyer. Probably a second rounder.
  11. Yeah I like him. However, it would be incredibly short sighted to go in with that plan to take a lower level competition college corner who only played in 9 games and bank on him changing positions and being good. There are some really good safeties in this draft and some interesting possible corner converts in free agency. Benford should be part of the competition, but they need more.
  12. I think they need to shift their philosophy a bit in terms of the guys they seem to target at the receiver position. It seems that route running and speed seems to be the focus, I think focus needs to change to get guys who catch everything and make contested catches. Like who is the next George Pickens, Mike Evans? Josh throws the ball hard, and some of the balls he throws are bad balls, but they are in the vicinity. Guys like McKenzie and Davis seem to need everything to go perfect for them to come down with a pass. Those guys don’t help us. Find guys who catch everything and make contested catches…I know…easier said than done. But that is what Josh needs. At the same time, if the line is better, Josh has the time to be more precise and accurate. In that situation, that route running is key. So pick a path, and make it happen.
  13. I will say this, I was watching the Jets loss back (not sure why, self torture I guess) and Bernard was actually pretty good. I know the general consensus is that he was godawful in that game, but that isn’t true, at least to my eyes. The dude needs to get stronger. Now I still question why he was drafted if they didn’t plan on running more 4-3 sets. You can’t draft Matt Milano’s backup in the third. Is he any better than Taron Johnson in the box right now? Meh. But if he adds 10-15 pounds of muscle and keeps his athleticism, there could be something there…if you squint reallly really hard.
  14. The combine was canceled that year. I believe those were his pro day numbers, not sure about self reported. I thought they had actual pro days. However, with so many guys opting out, or in Brown’s case having his season cancelled, people were able to spend way more time than normal preparing for the workout.
  15. I’m sorry brother! He may blow up because he will be playing for a contract! Glass half full!
  16. Unfortunately, we just witnessed Gabe’s year three. However, he could explode in 2023 since it is his free agent year.
  17. My very early gut tells me that all the DL, OL and WRs will be gone by pick 27. I think our only hope is that a bunch of quarterbacks go. If they don’t, our pick 27 essentially has the value of a second rounder
  18. I like Broderick Jones, I know some people don’t. But I just really like the upside play. He is already gone in a lot of mocks, but I thibk there is a chance he falls a bit. I will add that I think he is going to have a really good combine. Paris Johnson is probably the best LT in the draft. I love Pete Skoronski, but I think he’s a guard. If Jones is there, I would consider taking him and moving Dion. I don’t think there is anyone else who could be there, who I would make that move for. I definitely like taking a round 2-4 type guy, maybe Bergeron, Mauch, or Steen, guys who can play tackle but may be guards in the NFL. But I am not sure I would be willing to go OT round 1 unless its for Jones or Johnson who are both probably way gone.
  19. I don’t think they have much choice in the matter. They won’t be able to afford any upgrades in UFA (I don’t think there are upgrades). I also don’t think a rookie would be any more prepared than Brown. I think you let it ride this year.
  20. Pretty bad look for the Dolphins when you consider the Tua stuff as well
  21. Ingram may just be his krptonite. Everyone has a guy like that, Jerry Hughes vs HOF Joe Thomas.
  22. Yeah it’s quite confusing. A lot of people seem to want Mike McGlinchey. He sucks. He’s just an older, more expensive version of Brown without the upside. 100% these guys don’t really make it to a second contract, some get a lot of money in free agency, but for the most part paying a RT or using a first round pick on one is insanity. Look at Atlanta, they had two first round picks a few years ago and draft RG and a RT. Someone is going to pay McGary, who was worse than Brown up until this season and Chris Lindstrom is very good and a free agent next year. The Falcons still suck. Those first round picks need to be impact picks, not plug hole picks. Also, PFF scores are interesting but misleading. Too many people look at that and think it says something about a guys ability. Its’s cute, but it means nothing and often times does not match the eye test.
  23. Close to Zero chance they pursue him. They have shown zero interest in that type of linebacker in the past. I think they pursue Germaine Pratt, Cole Holcomb, Bobby Okereke, Cody Barton, maybe a Zach Cunningham, Anthony Walker Jr. or Leighton Vander Esch if Edmunds goes. Those guys are the types of athletes they typically pursue. A lot of people have mentioned Shaq Thompson if cut, I could see that as well. Don’t get me wrong, I like Edwards, I just don’t think he is their type.
  24. You get a bit of that in the shuttle and the three cone. But I don’t think that is his issue. @GunnerBill has talked about it, but Brown’s issue is using leverage and finding his center of gravity. Being as tall as he is, he really hasn’t found that sweet spot. But guys like him take awhile. Add in the fact that he switched positions in college, dealt with covid and cancelled seasons, came from a small school, and had an injury and 2 o-line coaches in 2 years? I give him a pass. I think this is the year he has to put it together. I’m not willing to move one yet because the upside is tremendous.
  25. Long story short, if you were going to build a tackle in a lab, Brown is basically the perfect specimen. Doesn’t necessarily mean he is a finished product. He needs time and I think this year is make or break.
