  2. I think, just based on his traits, that they really like Breese. Tippman to me is the perfect developmental center who can sit for a year.
  3. Yep! Honestly the guy hasn’t really peaked yet…if all the offers were equal, McDermott is probably the one you want molding you into the best safety you could be…plus Butler and Danna as really good secondary coaches by all accounts. So its probably about the chance to win and to become the best version of himself.
  4. Herbig is the classic small white guy, high motor edge player. He’s a really nice player. He’s a projection though, like a poor mans Drew Sanders, with way less length and upside. He lacks length, but he can play. I’m not sure I would take him before the third, but I wouldn’t bet against him either. In terms of a fit in our defense? I don’t think it’s there honestly. But I could see him carve out a Kaden Ellis like career.
  5. I tend to agree with this take. I think they feel good about their starters and depth there. Whether we do or not is irrelevant... But I do think Joe Tippman could be a target in that 2/3 area. He makes sense on a lot of levels and is a long-term play.
  6. He has really struggled in coverage in the past, but he is really good around the line of scrimmage. But its functional depth considering both safeties are older. I do trust McDermott when it comes to DBs. Maybe they play some big nickel? That has been a conversation pice on this board for a while here. Rapp did play some linebacker in the Ram's nickel sets. If you were, for instance going to draft a Jack Cambell-type linebacker, you might protect him for a year by subbing a guy like Rapp in pass situations. Maybe? I don't know. I like Rapp, good dude, seems like a weird fit with how we play our safeties. But maybe he took less money and just wants to be a part of it. That's a good thing.
  7. I gotta disagree. Simpson is almost 2 inches taller, 10 lbs heavier, and has bigger hands. Arms are little over half an inch shorter. Henley has a better broad jump, but all the other numbers Simpson has him beat. Simpson is just better on every level. I'm not saying I am against Henley as a pick, but I have Campell, Simpson, Sanders, large gap, Henley, Sewell etc. Just to add, he has Campbell beat on the 40, but the 10 and 20-yard split is exactly the same. So henley has better long speed. Campbell has him beat everywhere else as well. Henley also has longer rams than Campbell.
  8. Interesting guy. But he's like the thrift shop version of Trenton Simpson. Simpson does everything Henley does, has more polish, is bigger and faster, and 2 years younger.
  9. Agreed. I think Poona will have to wait until after the draft unless he is under that 1.7 million threshold. In terms of linebackers, outside of Myles Jack/Zach Cunnigham, it has become a mostly barren wasteland...but either of those guys would not count in the formula because they were released.
  10. Yeah, I think at this point they don't add anyone else until after the draft. It looks like they are sitting pretty with that 3rd round comp pick next year. I don't believe you should go crazy over comp picks, but right now adding any cheap depth is going to cost you that pick. No reason to add anyone at this point unless it's a trade.
  11. Someone else has to hire him as a HC. You can’t promote from within and get picks. Another team has to hire your minority coach to be their HC or GM as Lyndon states. The system is rewarding teams for developing minority coaches and front office people. The team that hires the guy doesn’t get compensation.
  12. I don’t have a problem with Wright at 27, because I think he is going to very good, but I only want him if they plan to have him start over Brown. I don’t want to draft competition. With the WRs, I love Johnston and really like Smith-Nijima…I don’t love the rest of the first round guys at this point. I like Tippman a lot. If I’m replacing Morse next year, he’s a great fit, 27 seems high for him in my world. I think he’s a round 2/3 guy. I will say that some of the conventional thinking stuff about RTs and MLBs in round 1, a belief of which I am typically a strong believer in, is kind of out the window with our pick. Our 27 is really a second round pick because there are so few 1st round prospects in the draft. My gut tells me they draft Campbell, Simpson, or a DL, edge likenNolan Smith or an interior guy like Bryan Breese.
  13. Why though? Because people on draft sites have him later in the draft? Is it something you see in game? His production, instincts and all his athletic measures are better than Tremaine’s except his 40. So it can’t be that. Last year at this time no one had Kaiir Elam in the 1st. And that’s where he went. Draft gurus had Karlaftis in the top 5, he went like 30. None of that matters.
  14. My point is that all GMs have a ton of misses, including the GMs that every idolizes. Most GMs seem to struggle in the round 2 and 3…the odds just get lower. On Bernard, we really have no idea what they think of him, but they probably have some conclusions based on his practices. The only thing that I claim to know is that he is not a mike. He is Milano’s backup. It’s like apples to oranges y’know? But they know what they have in the building with Bernard and Dodson, but I believe that there is a zero percent chance that either of those guys is starting come September. So the optics don’t matter…he needs a mike. Sure he can draft a backup RT to challenge Brown or a #2 tight end, but how can he justify that when there is a glaring hole in the middle of the defense. I keep saying it, but this was the exact same debate on this board last season when there was a glaring hole at corner. It was so obvious it was going to happen, but people kept on arguing against it. Maybe I am wrong and they really believe in Dodson…I just don’t buy it.
  15. Maybe. I like it. They need a really difference making weapon, otherwise it is all for naight. It isn’t Davis, and outside of Johnston or Smith-Nijima who are probably out of reach, it isn’t in the draft either. It’s a go for it move for a guy who has had a couple of injuries, he also played with a terrible QB and for a college head coach who was in over his head. Hopkins had some hammy stuff, which we don’t see a lot of in Buffalo and an MCL. The Cards are an embarrassing mess from top to bottom. I think we have a much better training staff. Is it a risk, sure, but I think its worth taking at this point. A mid round pick in a very weak draft for an all pro receiver? I do that deal any day.
  16. He should resign over a bad, late third round pick? I get that Bernard looks like a really bad pick. But I don’t understand the logic here. He just shouldn’t draft anymore linebackers because he picked a crappy one last year? That third round pick is a sunk cost. It is what it is. You have to start fresh every year and you have to pick the best player for your team, and right now that is a guy like Campbell imo. This is what GMs do. Some picks hit and some picks don’t. Everybody’s rockstar GM Brett Veatch drafted random defensive tackles in the third round 2018, 2019, 2020 all of whom really didn’t amount to anything. Khalen Saunders is ok and just left. So Veatch doesn’t have to resign because he drafted Mahomes and Creed Humphrey? How many WRs did Philly have to draft until they got one right? It’s all a part of the job. You have to look forward.
  17. Kill me, but Johnson over Flutie. Was never a big Flutie guy, I’m a big tall QB guy. Hated Murray and Baker Mayfield coming out.
  18. Agreed. You don’t see it as much anymore. Patriots do it a ton from what I recall.
  19. I would rather they spend that money on Hopkins or OBJ. Beane said something about re-aligning the cap. I think we are getting a rookie MLB, cheap deal.
  20. I mean yeah its a dime defense. 4 DL, 1 LB, 6 DBs. Some teams still do it. Hasn’t been a staple here.
  21. I’m down with it. It it helps Rousseau its worth it. I guess he’d replace Shaq?
  22. Morgan Freeman would crush it
  23. i wish i missed it
  24. I actually find him really interesting. A lot of eyes on him because of Cole Strange last year. He's a left tackle who will move inside to guard. I'd be lying if I told you I watched a bunch of his games but he is an interesting prospect. I do think the Bills will continue to use their picks on defensive players, though passing on those WR in the first really does not make sense.
