  1. Some projections I saw on Mattison were like 2 million per and Singletary closer to 4-5 per. So on paper he should be cheaper.
  2. I think Glasgow makes sense as a depth add. He can challenge and push Bates for playing time. If he winds up being a backup he definitely raises the floor for depth. He has played a ton of center and guard in the league. He’s a better Greg Van Roten. They should be aiming higher ar starting guard.
  3. He seems a lot like Foreman actually. A little under the radar, but that was the comp I was thinking of for sure. He should be cheaper.
  4. Rumor has it they are trying to extend him.
  5. I thought they were close. I think Diggs was mad about money and losing
  6. We all like to talk about the big-name expensive free agents. One of the things that I always find interesting is talking hidden UFA gems that could help our team. Alexander Mattison - RB - This guy is a big 5'11", 220-high cut back who runs for power and was a great complement to Davin Cook in Minnesota. He's only 24 and so there is a ton of tread left on those tires as he has been in a job share most of his career so far. He doesn't have the breakaway speed, but the dude runs hard. You are looking at something like 2 million per for a guy of his ability. Dude ran a slow 40 at the combine. He does not look slow when you watch him in the game. I think he fits well with James Cook as a short-yardage change-of-pace guy. Justin Watson - WR - Ivy league receiver, 6-2, 215, he has been a depth player for Tampa and KC and made some very clutch, acrobatic catches this year for KC when guys were out. Obviously a smart player. Ran a 4.4 at the combine, a huge vert, long arms, and big hands. Caches everything. He also plays special teams for the Chiefs. I think he would be a sneaky good signing. There is a ton of potential there. Rasheem Greene - DE - This guy was compared to Carlos Dunlap coming out. He is long and has some bend and former third-round pick of the Seahawks. He put up 3.5 sacks in a part-time role for the Texans, but as a former 5-star recruit who has dealt with some injuries, I think there could be some lightning in the bottle. Fits the mold of a McDermott end and he can also rush on the inside. Coleman Shelton - IOL - This dude bounced around the league a bit before he found a home in LA. He is not technically a free agent but has a payer option opt-out. After having a nice year filling in for injured players at both center and guard, he may be looking for a more lucrative deal than what he signed last year. He has played some meaningful snaps for the rams. Like Austin Corbett and David Edwards, Shelton is a guy Aaron Kromer targeted and developed. Kaden Ellis - LB - Ellis is another late bloomer type coming out of Idaho, but is all over the field for NO. 6-2, 240, he can cover and rush the passer. He has really good football instincts and reminds me of Matt Milano a bit. He has NFL bloodlines as the son of former Lion DL Luther Ellis. There is something there and I think he could be an interesting fit as our mike if Tremaine is indeed gone. Again, I am not sure if he will cost a ton, but he is a player that looks like he has a ton of potential in a full-time role. Anyone else have any sleeper Free agents we should discuss? Please share!
  7. The Zay Jones sucks thread was pretty legendary
  8. Gabe Jackson released. He’s a guard. He’s old. I don’t know if he’s good anymore.
  9. Christian Gonzalez CB Jack Campbell LB Trenton Simpson LB Drew Sanders LB Brian Branch S Riley Moss DB Sydney Brown S Paris Johnson OT Michael Mayer TE Luke Wypler C Late guys: Deuce Vaughn RB Michael Wilson WR BJ Thompson DE
  10. At that 15 million area I’d still be in on him. Interested to see what his market is. Really fascinating. A unicorn at an undervalued position whose original team doesn’t seem to be trying to keep.
  11. I’m not overly concerned with where the player is picked, what bothers me is when you study and target a position and take the wrong guy. It’s an error in scouting imo. Wood over Unger, Williams over McKinnie, Ford over Elgton Jenkins, Zay Jones over Cooper Kupp, Sammy Watkins over OBJ, Evans etc. That type of thing. All pro guys at a position you literally just used a draft pick on.
  12. I disagree to an extent. They got cheap production for essentially 4 years and a fifth-year option. I think it was a worthy gamble, but Fred Warner went in the third round. In hindsight, I think you let the draft come to you. I think they kind of forced this pick. I think taking an inside off-ball linebacker is ok in the back half, especially if you are getting the best one. I think it's fair to pay him in that 12 million-a-year range. 19-20 is absurd. The first round is for QBs, WRs, Edge sack getting players, and left tackles and corners imo.
  13. Even when you look at those contracts....Smith is good but probably isn't worth the contract that he just got. His career has been very up and down. Leonard has been hurt, had multiple surgeries on his back, lost feeling in his lower half, etc. Plus when he was out, Bobby Owereke was just as good, that one is looking like a miss imo. Warner is the only one who probably deserves the contract he got and even so there are a bunch of voidable years and such in there. If they let Warner walk and re-sign Al-Shaiir they probably get close to equal production. The CJ Mosely contract even looks like a dud. Tremaine would be a very poor investment, as pretty much any off-ball linebacker is when you start approaching 20 million AAV.
  14. They will wind up drafting Jack Campbell just to grind my gears.
  15. Edmunds will be fine wherever because of the type of athlete he is, people will find a way to use him. Poyer will not be okay if he leaves. He will regret leaving after he gets the bag and rides off into the sunset. Scheme fit is paramount for Poyer imo.
  16. I think if all things are equal, he will choose sun and tax-free, unless the offers are really terrible.
  17. I suppose if I was Eric Wood it would make sense for me to publicly bemoan his abilities so I can see people come out and defend my play.
  18. Yeah an average center won't help with any of that.
  19. I would be okay with it, but slightly disappointed. I just want more impact with a first-round pick. Does that mean boom or bust? Yes. The solid starter is a meh for me.
  20. They still picked the wrong guy because Max Unger, who went round two was better. Drafting a center to play him at guard didn't make a whole lot of sense honestly. Wood was okay over his career. Not worth a first imo.
  21. LB Jordan Kunaszyk Former Panther! It tracks!
  22. It's probably about the cardi b-offset meal at McDonalds. Or like some local auction or something.
  23. I think there are 6 guys teams would be willing to trade 2 first-round picks for: Mahomes, Allen, Herbert, Burrow, Hurts, and Lawrence. I think the price hurts Jackson. I also think people are looking at that Russell Wilson trade and seeing how giving up all that draft capital is probably not the answer. I like Lamar but he has sat out so much and it seems like the book on stopping him may have been found. I would love to see what he could do outside of a Greg Roman offense and if I were a team like Tampa Bay, I would be all over him. If I'm the Jets, same. If I were the Patriots I am calling Baltimore and offering Mac Jones and picks. These teams have pretty good rosters and are a QB away from competing. If I am the Commanders, same. The fact that some of these teams flat-out said they have no interest is indeed weird and may be an attempt to discourage guys from representing themselves. That is where he makes his most critical mistake.
  24. I agree with you on the overall class. It is actually an interesting bunch. However, I still think this regime is chasing sacks and looking for that premiere, cheap pass rusher. Guys like Zach Harrison, Tyree Wilson, Myles Murphy, Keion White, Van Ness and Isaiah Foskey...these guys look like they were built in a lab to play for McDermott. I do like their interest in Nolan Smith as he represents kind of a different flavor than what they are used to...a Hassan Reddick type of end. I honestly wouldn't be mad at any of them.
  25. People will probably hate this but here goes....Talking heads are beginning to mock edge rushers to the Bills. And I know it grinds some people's gears, but it is a need. Once Von got hurt, no one could get to the quarterback. Obviously, they have needs at OL and offensive weapons, but in theory, they can add OL in FA and later in the draft. If all the 1st round receivers are gone, your next best bet for an offensive weapon is a TE or RB (which can also be found in free agency). What can't be found in free agency is sacks, and so I think there is some merit to that thought process. If it really is BPA based on need, here are the needs IMO: Edge, LB, Safety, OL, offensive weapons. I think OL and LB get knocked out in UFA, I really do. If they sign OBJ, there is the OW. Outside of OBJ, DJ Chark, Mecole Hardman, and Noah Brown, the WR UFA crew doesn't really excite me. If they can't add a WR, that leaves you with edge, WR, #2TE, and safety as needs. Unless a top WR falls, the value is at the edge position.
