What would you trade for Jerry Jeudy?
MrEpsYtown replied to RocCityRoller's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think it depends. I want to know if Vance Joseph is running a 4-3 there. If so he needs a 3 tech. I know people want to trade Oliver, not sure who replaces him…but for Juedy I do It. -
Isaac Seumalo, G, **Update - Signed by Steelers
MrEpsYtown replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah they have to make re-signing Landon Dickerson the priority so I get Seumalo gets pushed out. I have no idea why he is still out there. Maybe he’s waiting and wants to return to philly. He was a center in college…jordan Poyers teammate. been a while for him. But I’m sure he can pick it back up. I don’t think he will be cheap -
Wagner suitors seem to be drying up a bit.

If he’s there you knock your grandma over to get the podium.

Anyone up for adding an edge rusher before the draft?
MrEpsYtown replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
If I were a betting man, which I am not, I think its LB, Edge, WR or TE with a small chance a DT. It doesn’t matter where the offensive weapon comes from as long as there is a plan for him to be on the field. They aren’t going to draft RT in the first round to compete with Spencer Brown. It’s not happening. And they are not drafting a guard. Zero shot. -
Just watch some Iowa games on the ESPN app. Guy is just awesome. He plays zone like he has eyes in the back of his head, sheds, fills, pursues, and I see sideline to sideline work despite the assumption “big long white guy can’t run.” He can run and carry the seam. He’s a big stronger version of Fred Warner. He’s a dude. Someone mentioned in another thread, that Campbell is training with Luke Keuchly. In theory, he could come to his pre Draft visit (assuming he has one) and already know the entire playbook. Trenton Simpson is different. Some websites compare him to JOK of the Browns. Simpson is bigger, faster, stronger, and more explosive. He looks like he came out of a lab to play for McDermott. Oozes process too. If you watch his games, last year he was more of a flex nickel edge player. This past year he played in the box as a stack backer, so you see a lot of different skills. I would be ecstatic with either honestly. Simpson hits like a fright train, speed, all over the field and he is an awesome blitzer. As this process continues, because these guys are such amazing, incredibly smart young men, they are going to rise up draft boards.

I agree, but If the invest fails you can’t just keep beating your head against the wall, you have to reinvest and try something else. Those failed draft picks are a sunk cost. It sucks, but its a crapshoot. Total 100% sneaky need. They ain’t drafting a guard in the first round I can tell you that. -
All good man. I saw some good things from Bernard in the Jets game. A few rookie mistakes as well. I know this, he is not a mike. Does he ever become serviceable? Yeah maybe. If McDermott starts running more of the 4-3 under stuff I could see Bernard being the Shaq Thompson role. Milano is Thomas Davis. We are still missing the Kuechly role. Right now its really just Wagner or draft, or maybe somebody bets cut. I love Jack Campbell, Trenton Simpson is more their flavor, but we shall see.

Yeah I get ya. I just, dont want it to turn into a Tremaine bashing post, but all I heard was that he took away the middle of the field. But he didn’t. At all. Ever. He was terrible at that. And just because he is tall or whatever doesn’t mean he did those things. Maybe we can get Dikembe Mutumbo to stand at Mike y’know. And I am being half facetious, and half kinda factual. So I think there could be some dropoff in play there, but with Hyde back and hopefully a better pass rush, we don’t get exposed in that area.

I would add a list of ESPN's top 50 with their rankings...because I want to see who we are passing on at other positions to reach for need. I know people get angry, but I believe DL is a need. Edge and interior. We lost last year because those guys could not get to the QB. We 100% need to continue to add weapons to the offense and add depth to the offensive line, but if we can't get to the QB, we can't win the whole thing.

Yeah once Epps and those other safeties were taking deals in the 2/12 range, I was saying Jordan was going to get something in the range of 6-8 per for 2-3 years. I was told I was wrong because he was "so much better," but it made sense to me at the time, so here we are. Did I think it would be with us? No, I did not. End of the day, that's fair market value, and to me, that is all you can ask for from a player/team perspective. It works for all parties.

I totally agree. It's not like guards don't make anything as well. I think it's a pride thing. IMO, with his skill set and intelligence he could be one of the best centers in the league. Kelce makes 14 million a year. He will never be a 23 million-a-year left tackle. If he stays at LT he will be a depth guy like James Hurst making 5-6 million, or out of the league.
-
Well for whatever reason, they didn't think he could.

If you listen closely to what Beane says, they have "receiver roles." Right or wrong, it's what he says. Diggs is 1 - outside Davis is 2- outside Shakir is 3 (this is designated for their slot position) Harty is 4 (He said specifically that what they look for in a 4 is a guy who plays inside and out. I think Harty gets more snaps than Shakir, but he is the "4" role...imo this was like Emmanuel Sanders' role for a bit) Their 5 is a receiver who is also a gunner. This has been Jake Kumerow since 2021. Before it was Andre Holmes, Brandon Tate, Damari Scott. If they don't bring back Kumerow, Mack Hollins or Justin Watson makes sense to me. Can play outside as well The 6 is the depth guy who probably doesn't dress on game day. So essentially, imo, any addition going forward is either taking Davis' or Shakir's job. This structure, right or wrong, is why Isaiah Hodgins is gone. They didn't think he was better than the slots we had, and he couldn't play outside or on special teams.

Little interesting tidbit, In 2019 we made that horrible decision to trade up for Cody Ford. We traded up to pick 38. The Bengals had pick 42 and traded down after that. They were probably targeting him and that's why we made that boneheaded decision to move up. It truly is a crapshoot.

Bernard vs Dodson: Tale of the Tape
MrEpsYtown replied to TheyCallMeAndy's topic in The Stadium Wall
And I do these mock drafts for fun, just to kind of see how things go. I know it's not any kind of scientific method, but it is interesting. Sometimes Zay Flowers or one of the other WR falls. Mostly it's Flowers or Addison. Sometimes Mayer is there. Sometimes it's Bijan Robinson. Most of the time the BPA is Nolan Smith or Bryan Breese. It's so hard to tell. I agree. If they leave MLB the way it is right now, that is who they will draft. My hope is that they add a starter there so they can actually go BPA. The issue is that the only real starters left are Wagner or Tranquill. If they add a mike, to me, if it isn't a tight end or receiver, it's going to be an edge player. -
Campbell and Simpson are just never going to make it to our second-round pick. I could see them in on Campbell 100%. I think they are going to draft Joey Porter somehow. They did sign Cole Holcomb and Eladon Roberts, good players but not super high upside. It is not as much of a need for them as it is for us IMO.
-
Perhaps. It's early but I don't think Campbell and Simpson get there. I have no idea what Sanders is at this point. After those guys, it's a second tier imo. Last year Quay Walker and Devin Lloyd went at the end of round 1. IMO Campbell is better than both those guys. Then you had 1 guy go in round two and a run on backers in the third. I think 2 of those 3 guys go tail end of the first again, with a third of probably slipping to mid second, and the next tier of guys go in the third.
