Another way to go. Trade way down and stack up #1 picks in 2024
MrEpsYtown replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
I definitely think there will be movement up and down, I just don't think future first-round picks will be in play at 27. -

Has anyone seen anything about Arkansas pro day? Curious about Drew Sanders' testing numbers. On Spector: Spector crushed that 3 cone and that is one of the things that make him interesting in pass coverage.
-
Wright is like three times the athlete too. I just think their college tape looks very similar.

I think, the way this year's draft is shaping up, your only hope of a trade-down is if one of those QBs is there. Outside of the top 15 picks, everybody is really 2nd/3rd round pick value. No one is trading 2024 first to go and get some mid-level player. -

Nah but the Patriots might. -
What scares me about Wright is that some of his weaknesses are the same as Spencer Brown's in terms of footwork and punch timing in pass pro. I see a little Cody Ford there. And I just don't think you use a first-round pick unless it is a true no-doubt massive upgrade. Not sure Wright is that.

I agree. I just don’t think Dorsey is going to go there with the offense, but I could be wrong.

Yeah I think Wright is plug and play. How much better he will be than Brown in the long run is kind of my question. So is it really worth it? I really don’t like using a first round pick in a RT, but this year is just a little different in terms of it being so weak. So I have softened thatvstabce a bit for Wright. In any other year he’s a 2nd round guy. Kincaid is good too. Here’s the thing…this team isn’t drafting a #2 TE or RT competition in the first round. It’s just not happening. If they draft those guys they need to have the intention of starting them, and I think this regime likes Knox and Brown too much to go there. As much as fans hate it, if it isn’t a LB, I think it’s and edge rusher or a DT. If all the WRs and defensive talent is gone, I could see a RT or TE but I doubt it. Just so everyone goes nuts even more, the Chiefs will draft Wright at the end of the first, or jump in front of us to do so.

Great question. I’m not sure that Epenesa would ever have that twitch that Van Ness has. Van Ness was a hockey player who kind of switch over to football late just because he’s so damn big. But AJ definitely looks like a better athlete than he ever was before. I’d like to see if he takes that big leap. In terms of edge guys, I think it is a sneaky need. They need to get to the QB and that is the bottom line. People get upset because they spent a ton of resources on the DL. Sunk cost…that isn’t going to stop them from continuing to add players and use high picks. I don’t know about great, but they should have just left him and Boogie Basham alone. Let them be who they were meant to be.
-
I understand the apprehension. Van Ness is raw, but his athleticism is really off the charts and is a very different player from AJ. He is just a redshirt sophomore, so he has some development to go through in terms of hand placement and pass rush moves and strategy, but he's going to be very good. He's an upside play and was BPA when I did that draft. I think he will go in the top 15.
-
They both seem to have McD traits and tons of upside and athletic ability. I love Jack too. I'll take any of the three. Sanders is also just 21 in December, so there is definitely some growth potential there.

Bored at work so: Or I have a feeling Sanders is going to blow up that pro day today.

He does have an opt-out somewhere I believe.

I guess since he is a free agent and it's the offseason, he's in the building. -

I think, just based on his traits, that they really like Breese. Tippman to me is the perfect developmental center who can sit for a year.

Taylor Rapp Signing with Bills
MrEpsYtown replied to hellofellowbillsfans's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yep! Honestly the guy hasn’t really peaked yet…if all the offers were equal, McDermott is probably the one you want molding you into the best safety you could be…plus Butler and Danna as really good secondary coaches by all accounts. So its probably about the chance to win and to become the best version of himself. -
Herbig is the classic small white guy, high motor edge player. He’s a really nice player. He’s a projection though, like a poor mans Drew Sanders, with way less length and upside. He lacks length, but he can play. I’m not sure I would take him before the third, but I wouldn’t bet against him either. In terms of a fit in our defense? I don’t think it’s there honestly. But I could see him carve out a Kaden Ellis like career.

Taylor Rapp Signing with Bills
MrEpsYtown replied to hellofellowbillsfans's topic in The Stadium Wall
I tend to agree with this take. I think they feel good about their starters and depth there. Whether we do or not is irrelevant... But I do think Joe Tippman could be a target in that 2/3 area. He makes sense on a lot of levels and is a long-term play. -
Taylor Rapp Signing with Bills
MrEpsYtown replied to hellofellowbillsfans's topic in The Stadium Wall
He has really struggled in coverage in the past, but he is really good around the line of scrimmage. But its functional depth considering both safeties are older. I do trust McDermott when it comes to DBs. Maybe they play some big nickel? That has been a conversation pice on this board for a while here. Rapp did play some linebacker in the Ram's nickel sets. If you were, for instance going to draft a Jack Cambell-type linebacker, you might protect him for a year by subbing a guy like Rapp in pass situations. Maybe? I don't know. I like Rapp, good dude, seems like a weird fit with how we play our safeties. But maybe he took less money and just wants to be a part of it. That's a good thing.
