Double reverse pitch to Damar Hamlin for -3 yards!
-
My 2 cents on this whole situation is that this is just a tiny bit of guaranteed money and doesn't guarantee that he is the punter this year. I think they draft a guy and I think they are keeping Haack around to help the rookie work on holding for Bass. I have zero proof of this, but that is what I think will ultimately happen. If Martin beats out the rookie, then he sticks around.
-
Agreed. But I do think it's going to be a mixed bag with Samuel. I think he will move al over the place.
-
Agreed. In Norv Turner's system in Carolina, before they hired Brady, Samuel was outside more. In 2019 he was only in the slot at a 22% rate, which is less than Stefon Diggs was in the slot this year. So this "Samuel is a slot only" thing is really just one of those PFF made-up recency bias-type things. Bottom line, Brady is going to move guys around all over the place and Samuel adds to the pile of playmaking ability.

Haack was actually an all state receiver in high school and recruited as a wideout, so perhaps he can provide some versatility! True story, but I am kidding here. http://www.hudl.com/v/2HwFdG

This site is cool: https://www.playerprofiler.com/nfl/curtis-samuel/ For 2020 it has him in the slot 53% of the time.

It’s a good and fair point. My only counter to that is that we have no idea if any of those guys visited and it just wasn’t reported. So who knows 🤷♂️

Man I try to will things to happen, but I must have done some bad things in my previous life. Got no luck! My positive spin is that there is a bunch of medical verbiage that needs to be in the thing.

Good stuff here: https://www.cover1.net/safety-julian-blackmon-visiting-bills/ Also interesting note, Blackmon was drafted for Matt Eberflus’ defense in Indy. His concepts are very similar to ours, that’s why Chicago went after Tremaine Edmunds. When you watxh the video on Cover 1, Blackmon looks like a cross between Hyde and Poyer. I think he’s a great fit and my optimistic gut says it happens.

https://www.cover1.net/free-agent-profile-defensive-tackle-austin-johnson/ Johnson is very interesting

The biggest thing I see in that video is he plays with leverage and keeps gap integrity, which is something the Bills DL seems to struggle with. And I know its fun to poke fun about the motor and lunch pail and stuff, but the dude seems to be relentless in his pursuit. I don’t know if he even makes the team, but there are certainly traits there.

Yeah thats the one move they could make that would actually bother me. It’s what they should do. But they probably wont because they are the Jets.

Time to nameplate my Dareus jersey!

Clearly brings his lunchpail!

Pure pass rusher, not a run defender, but can help in passing situation.

I had my eye on Jack Driscoll, but he signed with the Dolphins. Of what is left, I like Evan Brown. Super high RAS center who is similar to Ryan Bates in a bunch of metrics. He's been a competent backup for a bit and floated around the league, has started 40 games. But he is still young and I love the athleticism. He can play guard or center. If you want a true vet backup who is a solid player in a pinch it's probably Cody Whitehair. He has a lot of experience at both guard and center. He is 32, but he is the type of guy who could be useful in the group. Released so no comp pick impact. Lucas Patrck was also released by the Bears and is a high RAS guy who has a good amount of experience. Shane Lemiuex is an interesting guy, but he has been hurt a lot and ruined by Bobby Johnson. But a young vet who would be very cheap and can play guard and center. You could potentially catch lightning here. Nick Gates, who was released by Washington is similar but has more experience. Brian Allen is mostly a center only. he is on the smaller side, but a Kromer guy and a former wrestler. He was excellent during their Super Bowl run and you could do a lot worse with a backup center. Another released guy, so no comp pick impact.

I've been trying to say, he's a natural center. He was a center in high school. A lot of centers are converted from other positions. He's been playing center for a long time. I guess Penn State and Dallas needed him more at guard. I think he's going to be excellent at center and I am glad he is excited for the opportunity. A bit more stout than Morse. And I know I am in the minority here, but I really like David Edwards.

IMO, the entire front office should be fired if they made that move.

Bills have private workout scheduled with WR Troy Franklin
MrEpsYtown replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall
A lot of the newer mock drafts have WRs being pushed down with teams snatching up corners, OL and DL guys and overdrafting QBs. That could be a good sign. I agree with you. I wasn't there last year, but I am there now. Just keep adding offensive weapons, specifically WR. -
Sorry for the rant Dingus! and this is not directed toward you, just my general angst. I will say that the Chiefs hit on a second-round pick, a center who gets away with holding on every play and got lucky with a sixth with an excellent guard in Trey Smith. They will lose one of those guys in free agency next year. They do not have a LT and their LG and RT were big free-agent signings. They missed on Darian Kinnard, they missed on Lucas Niang, who knows what Wanya Morris is. They have not done a great job drafting offensive linemen. I understand they have drafted pretty well, especially 2022. But they have hit on 2 homegrown linemen. We have 3 homegrown linemen starting for us right now. This idea that they are amazing drafters is a misconception. They hit on Mahomes and Chris Jones, two guys drafted by John Dorsey. He also drafted Kelce a while back. KC had a really good 2022 draft and found Rashee Rice last year. The Bills had 34 homegrown players on their 53 last year. The Chiefs had 32. Mahomes and Jones are two of the best in the league and people think Humphrey is amazing because PFF. But that and the Super Bowls blind some of us. They are good drafters who hit on 3 hall of famers with John Dorsey at the helm.

We have two starters, and we need some depth. This is a bit of a deep dive, but this is what I got.... James Lynch, former Baylor Bear who has played all across the defensive line in Minnesota. Tore his acl last summer, so coming off an injury. But he could be a cheap buy with a really interesting pedigree. He can play nose, 3 tech, or some defensive end as well. PJ Mustipher is a huge nose tackle from Penn State. He's been a journeyman, but he is the kind of big body you can throw in there and he can have an impact and would be very cheap. Ross Blacklock is a former second-round pick who has busted. Maybe worth a look at the very least. Austin Johnson is another former second-round pick and another Penn State guy. Another mostly nose tackle, but he has been productive in multiple spots. I think he could make for a possibly interesting add. He is probably the best player on this list. Bryan Mone was recently released by the Seahawks. 6-3, 345 he is a huge dude and could be an interesting backup to Daquan Jones. He looked like he was having a successful career and the Hawks gave him a big extension, then he hurt his knee is 2022. He missed all of 2023. In some other thread I talked about Marlon Davidson and Taven Bryan as possible backup pass-rush-type dudes.

Is anybody tracking the Pegula jet? or is the new cash-to-cap making these guys take a Greyhound bus? I kid, I kid.
