Isaiah Simmons might be an answer for the Bills at MLB
MrEpsYtown replied to gjv's topic in The Stadium Wall
Hypothetical, if you had to choose between Simmons and Kenny Murray for the Bills who you taking? I lean Murray personally, but its close. -
Got you. My apologies really. I don't mean to come off as a jerk. That was not my intent.

Yeah I get you. And I guess it is friendly debate, but when the GM and coach have come out and repeatedly said they will not make this maneuver, why does it continue to be a thing? It's just kind of silly. Creating the same thread over and over about a question that has already been answered isn't really contributing to the board either. Am I contributing? Not really. Is the OP? No not really. Just spinning wheels. I suppose here is my breakdown...The responsibility of the mike in a 4-2-5 is not exceptionally different that the will, however, he does have to take on more blocks at the point of attack which allows Milano to clean up. Milano excels in cleaning up and shooting gaps playing away from the strength. Stick him at mike and he is now taking on more tight ends etc. He is aso a guy that gets banged up quite a bit. Stick him in there at that spot and he won't last three games. Again, we can debate it all we want, but the braintrust says it isn't happening. It's their opinion that it's not the right move and that is the only opinion that matters. The reason why it is a downgrade is that you are asking Milano to do things that he is not suited for and then you are asking another guy to come in a replace Milano's all pro production. So it's a downgrade in two spots. Leave the man where he excels. Do we see more dime type packages where safety Taylor Rapp is your other linebacker? Sure. Does that make Milano the mike? Sure I suppose. But all that remains to be seen. All that we know right now is that bothe Beane and McDermott immediately shot down the idea of moving Matt Milano, and it wasn't coachspeak stuff.
-
Beane has been steadfast and really consistent that Milano's role will not change. Same story before and after the draft. Why downgrade two spots? Keep Milano where he is. This is another message board thing that is posted every three to four days, then comes a new "hear me out."

True. I was actually an Ike fan from day 1 and really liked his potential. I was so upset when KC claimed him, but we got him back. The Bills could have kept Teller at LG and Ike at RG a few years ago and they could have saved themselves a lot of grief and draft capital. Ike had interesting upside…a few years go by, he gets injured and now all of a sudden he’s 29. He’s just not as interesting anymore.

Boettger is also going to be 29 this season. So im def keeping the young guy over him and imo Broecker is probably already better, he’s 22, and extremely durable.

Beane: “working on at least 2 veteran UFA’s”
MrEpsYtown replied to Warriorspikes51's topic in The Stadium Wall
The plan is the same one they have been talking about for awhile. LB they will have a competition for the spot with guys in house. Beane says he thinks they deserve a shot. RT they believe they have a good player in Brown who was hurt last year. I suppose they could add depth, but aren’t moving on from Brown at this time. -
Yeah i think Smith is interesting. I think his production could be close to what Hurst gave them, but I think Hurst is better where Smith has some upside. Safety looks like a major problem. Their front seven remains the same for this year and they added Murphy. They are going to have to live and die by getting to the quarterback.
-
The Bengals are also taking a step back at least defensively, and big step back at tight end. This is kind of their last shot before they have to start paying everyone.
-
The Dolphins were giving them the deep shot. That was the correct read most of the time, they just didn't execute. Agreed. One or two plays completely change that game.

He’s probably one of the reasons Brady retired.

I actually always liked Cobb. But I feel like the Jets are building an all geriatric team which will overshadow the young guys…which I like

He sucks

The Ravens’ LB Patrick Queen is rumored to be a trade candidate.
MrEpsYtown replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall
I said it in another thread but I would trade for Kenneth Murray. Bills liked him pre draft and the Chargers rejected his 5th year option and he seems to really have fallen out of favor. -
It's a tough play. He is forced to play outside-in the way he is lined up. For a guy who is usually in the box playing inside out, it's a very different angle vs the player who won the Heisman trophy and will be the #1 pick in the draft next year. He simply lost his leverage, which is going to happen sometimes. This one doesn't bother me. Josh Allen does this to all pros regularly because they lose their leverage.

Somewhere in this thread I broke down that USC film. It's a lot of up and down. But he makes more plays than not vs a team that should have wiped the floor with Tulane. He has a shot.

RD 5, Pick 150: WR Justin Shorter, Florida

I think most UDFA deals are for three years. I may be mistaken. -
RD 5, Pick 150: WR Justin Shorter, Florida
MrEpsYtown replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
For me it is the 5 star recruit thing, combined with the measurables, plus the inconsistent coaching he got at Florida. There just seems to be more there. I don’t think this is the run of the mill type of fifth rounder. Diggs’ story is similar, though he is obviously not the same type of receiver size wise and style. But he was a 5 star recruit, winds up in a very up and down situation at Maryland, deals with injuries and just has a really inconsistent career. Goes in the 5th despite a strong combine. I am not saying Shorter is going to be Diggs, but there is more to the story with Shorter and that’s why he is so interesting to me.- 544 replies

Beane: “working on at least 2 veteran UFA’s”

He’s been a 60% snap guy. Would probably wind up being a little less here. But he is productive with those lower snap counts. -
Bills are grandpa's based on average roster age.
MrEpsYtown replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
Von Poyer and Hyde skew that number alone. Plus Murray if he was counted in this. The rest of the roster are in their mid to later 20s pretty much. -

He does a really good job in trenches and that is hard to quantify. You don’t see him getting crushed in the run game and splits double teams in the zone game. I think coaching and his usage has not helped him. They should move him around to create mismatches. In a gap attacking defense he seems to take on a lot of blockers all of the time. Where he is lacking, and where he can take it to the next level is he needs to use his quickness more. Some players are selfish on the dline, leave everyone else out to dry to get their’s. you’ve probably heard stories about JJ Watt being that type…he got his but his teams always sucked, he didn’t do the dirty work. Oliver doesn’t do that. He plays good team defense, and that is what Beane is talking about when he talks about things that don’t show up on the stat sheet. If he played for “him” he would have more sacks and splash plays. He plays a very disciplined form of football. It’s on the coaches to unleash him more imo.

I think Oliver is excellent and I think this signing will help him.
