  1. I do like McKinnon but I think he follows Shurmur to NY. He would have a bigger role because they don't really have feature back. Plus he'd probably catch a good amount balls out of the backfield with Eli.
  2. The TV draft heads were all over Mahomes and Trubisky. Peterman was being compared to Kirk Cousins...the oversight is Watson. He lit it up and everybody kind of slept on him. That said, I think O'Brien really simplified the offense for Watson. He honestly looked like rookie year RG3. The league caught up to that and they will catch up to Watson. I want to see him actually run a pro style offense because what they were doing with Houston will not sustain once people get enough film. Not saying he can't do it but I want to see more. I don't think this was a monumental error. Allen is the physical prototype. Darnold has super high potential. Mayfield is a playmaker. But Rosen is an actual quarterback. He's my guy. Trade up for Rosen, maybe Darnold, and I'd be okay with Allen or Mayfield if they slide a bit, but short of that I'm passing on this draft class. Maybe Luke Falk or White later in the draft.
  3. Dion Lewis. He's boys with Shady and if they share the job, Shady's career would be extended. You are taking a guy away from the Pats, plus he's familiar with what Daboll is going to do.
  4. I hear you. I just don't see anyway Elway would be ok with it. Elway is a traditionalist at QB. It would have to be a team willing to change what they do to fit him. Like perhaps Arizona drafts Mayfield and decides to bring in a similar type in Taylor as a bridge. But good point. Someone out there has to like him.
  5. I've been looking for excuses to cancel it!
  6. They are starting to clear cap for Kirk Cousins imo
  7. I think trading up to 13 gets you closer to trading into the top 3, but anything short of a trade up for Allen-Darnold-Rosen, I probably would not bother.
  8. People around the league know that Taylor sucks. He is what he is, which is a small athlete playing quarterback. Nobody will trade for him. The perception is that he is an efficient winner. The reality is that he doesn't turn the ball over because he won't throw the damn ball and his lack of awareness in the pocket is why he has reached his peak. Teams want to win from the pocket.
  9. I think they sign Cousins and get someone like Watkins or Landry as a receiver. That 72 million does not include possible cuts in Wilkerson and Skrine. A post june 1 designation of Wilkerson frees up something like 17 million in cap.
  10. I think you have to entertain the trade up scenario. Like you said, go and get him. I look for all avenues to try and trade up and get Rosen or Darnold. I really like Rosen. Then sign any FA quarterback to be a bridge for 8-10 games (like the Giants did with Kurt Warner and Eli.) You would definitely need a vet in the room. If a trade up can't happen I think you have to consider Bridgewater next. He's got elite skills with a huge injury question. But he's still young and could, in theory be that franchise guy. After that I think we have to consider Bradford, Keenum, a trade for Foles etc. I really wanted Alex Smith and I really like Cousins. I thought Smith had a good chance of happening, but obviously it didn't. I think the Cousins fit is great, but I see the signing as unlikely. What I fear will happen? Something like Tyler Bray, Tom Savage, and Peterman battle it out. Yuck!
  11. This is what he said to PFT: "Is money a part of it? Sure. Is it the only thing? No. It is about winning, and that's what I want more than anything, so I'm going to be willing to make sacrifices or do what has to be done to make sure I'm in the best possible position to win, and that's what the focus is going to be." Money is part of it, and there are too many teams that can offer more than us. I think Cousins signing with us is unlikely.
  12. I really like Rosen. I think he is an elite prospect, and the off field stuff doesn't bother me. I get the sense that he is an extremely intelligent guy who feels like he needs to express himself on things he has opinions on. He just has to learn not to take teh bait from reporters. I don't get the feeling teammates don't like him. He might be a little entitled, but I want my quarterback to have the confidence and to think he is man. I think McDermott is the perfect coach for him.
  13. I totally agree, I'm just saying that Haslim has not shown the ability to stay out of things. He said he was going to back off in the past and he has yet to do that. I think at the end of the day, and NFL owner technically has final say. I just want to see it actually happen before I bank on it is all. It would be awesome to see a return to prominence for both of these proud franchises. Hopefully the Steelers and Pats will be one their way down.
  14. I don't know man. I watched the Jets kick the snot out of us on Thursday night in the stands in the endzone. We looked like a college team that night. The Jets have talent and are on the rise. I'd argue that the level of talent is pretty close, plus they have like 72 million in cap and when they cut Wilkerson and Buster Skrine it's going to be closer to 100 million. If Cousins goes there they will make the playoffs in my opinion. Sign Cousins and reciever like Sammy Watkins and they will be good to go.
  15. I have to see it to believe it. They still have a meddling owner who doesn't know how to let his people run the show. Obviously, they hired some good people, but will he leave them alone to do their thing? I'm not betting on it until I see it. What happens when the pressure is on in the draft room?
  16. I still think the Jets are above us as well. The difference in cap space is staggering, and while Cousins has said he's going to look for a place he can win, he did say money is a factor. He can go to the highest bidder as say "team on the rise blah blah." I go Jets, Denver, Arizona, Jacksonville, then us and the Browns.
  17. I really like Bradford, but like Cousins he becomes your franchise quarterback. He is going to take a significant investment, at least the next 4 years. Not gonna get the money like Cousins, be isnt going to sign a 1 year deal. He is going to sign to be the guy. He's an borderline great player, but he always hurt. If I'm making that investment I probably take Bridgewater instead because he is younger and has similar question marks. I prefer Smith because he could be a bridge, or he could be the guys for the next 4-5 years. He gives you options. I really want a young guy drafted to be the guy for the next 10-15 years. Smith allows you to do that and still make the playoffs next year.
  18. I doubt it but maybe he leaked the Wood story? They like to keep things pretty airtight.
  19. So he can drop a touchdown pass sending New England to another Super Bowl? Anyway I really or him a lot. I have seen his draft projections all over the place though. Looking forward to his combine.
  20. I think plan C is go with Peterman. They would bring in a couple of 25-27 year old vets who haven't really gotten a shot to come in for cheap and compete with Peterman. Guys like Tyler Bray or Matt Barkley. They could bring in a guy like Blaine Gabbert or Tom Savage to "compete." Savage just played for O'Brien who should have similarities to what Daboll is going to do. Bray just developed under Andy Reid for four years, is really big and has a huge arm. I know these guys don't excite anyone...that's why it is plan C. I think this would all be meant to bring in competition for Peterman, knowing they want him to win the job. I think Plan A is Alex Smith and trade up for Darnold/Rosen. This could also be trade for Smith and develop Peterman. I think Plan B is sign Cousins or another veteran to be the starter for the next 5 years. Bridgewater, Bradford etc.
  21. One of the reasons I like a trade up or a trade down is that down the road you really would have a hard time keeping both guys. The fifth year option would be pretty expensive as first rounders and contracts would be coming up for both guys who both play the defensive tackle spot. I might go DT and DE. Cleveland is on the verge of that issue. Because they have had so many first rounders the last few years, those fifth year options are all going to come at the same time. I love a trade up for a quarterback. If I can't trade up, I make a pick at 21 and trade down with 22 to accumulate more picks. Just my 2 cents.
  22. Your post a couple of pages ago is really the first time I thought seriously about the situation. You really have made the first convincing argument that I've read that makes me feel good about the possibility of Cousins happening. I just think that there are a ton of moving parts and good amount of competition. I hope we come out on top because he really does seem like a McDermott type of guy.
  23. I also think we will have quite a bit of competition. I'm down with Cousins, but I don't see us outbidding Cleveland, the Jets, Minnesota, even Washington. Us Jacksonville, Arizona, and Denver are all pretty much neck and neck with cap space. I think the question is can we sell him on us? I think you make some great points, but we are going to have to woo him. That also means somehow beating out John Elway, Arizona weather, Jacksonville and Minnesota's readiness to win, the Jets and Browns $$$$. It's going to be tough to come out with Cousins. Should have just drafted him instead of TJ Graham
  24. It's all good. I was overreacting to Mayfield's shenanigans anyways. Fan is short for fanatic
