  1. That is a pretty interesting concept. Kind of taking one for the team. It sounds like sugar coating, but I do buy it to a certain extent. If he's willing to take on the criticism to protect his teammates that is pretty cool. I don't love how he responds to the criticism and it seems like it has the potential to be Ryan Leaf-like.
  2. I bet they told him he could come back and compete with Ramon Humber and told them to F off
  3. The end result is the following list of players for Buffalo, in order of the positions listed in the guide: RB Damien Williams FB Derrick Coleman WR John Brown WR Andre Roberts TE Jeff Cumberland OT Austin Pasztor DT Daequan Jones DT Kyle Williams DE Ezekiel Ansah DE Arthur Moats LB Bruce Carter CB EJ Gaines Very strange list and besides Ansah, Kyle and Gaines, a lot of it doesn't make sense. Look like it was put together but someone that knows nothing about our team. Damien Williams is just a generic backup running back. he's nothing special. You could probably get someone like him late in the draft. Williams also has red flags and was dismissed from Oklahoma when he was there. Derrick Coleman is a fullback who is not better than Patrick DiMarco, and has been suspended for off the field stuff. John Brown makes some sense as a deep threat, but probably not much better than Deonte Thompson. He's also had a ton of injury issues. He did have a huge year in 2015. Andre Roberts visited here a couple of years ago and chose to sign somewhere else. He's an okay punt returner. Slight upgrade from Tate. Jeff Cumberland is a blocking tight end who is an okay player. Guys like him can always be found in the draft for cheaper like East_West Shrine interview Ethan Wolf as an UDFA. Austin Pasztor is a Canadian backup right tackle who was available for league minimum last summer. Daquan Jones would be an interesting add as a depth player on the defensive line. A PSU alum who was a fourth round pick. Coming off a torn biceps. Arthur Moats is a severely undersized defensive end who has been valuable as a rotational piece as a linebacker for Pittsburgh. He would be an awful fit in our defensive scheme at end or linebacker. Bruce Carter was a big time free agent signing of the Bucs a few years ago. They expected him to come in and be their MIKE and be awesome. He played like crap and got benched and then cut. His defensive coordinator at the time? Leslie Frazier. So yeah, I'm not a fan of this list. It seems like a lazy plugging of positional needs.
  4. Good stuff. I'll add pin and pull plays which are really just outside zones with a downblock and guys pulling around, basically buck sweep.
  5. If Trent Edwards signs and has "Captain Checkdown" on his jersey it would all be worth it.
  6. I had the opportunity to work for this guy a few years ago. He's a jerk but he knows what he is doing. My concern is that he is too much of a control freak so I'm not sure a true competitive sport is really in his wheelhouse. Maybe he will hire Al Riveron? Anyway, if he could get a hold of guys like Tebow, Kaepernick, Manziel, Greg Hardy, Mario Williams, maybe he could make something happen? I think the difference between now and before is that there is actual talent at home sitting on the streets. People blackballed or getting into trouble or just left behind. The XFL failed because the football was bad, but there is a good amount of football talent out there who have no jobs. Now is the time to strike.
  7. I like Ansah and even DeMarcus Lawrence, but there will be a lot of competition for their services. I want Robert Quinn. Perfect fit for our defense. He's got a big contract, but no bigger than you would have t give Ansah. Plus he only has two more years and very little guaranteed money. He's only 27. The Rams could cut him for cap reasons, which is crazy. I'd offer them a pick just to guarantee I get him.
  8. I like Milano. He is good in space and I thought he was excellent shooting gaps and blitzing. He was really good at this at BC. I think he needs to improve in coverage a bit. He was really close to a bunch of interceptions and just kind of got moved at the last second by teh quarterback. As his awareness of the game increases, his coverage will be better. I think he was pretty poor taking on blockers and sometimes took some really bad angles. I think he has potential though and has a nose for the ball. Now is he LaVonte David or Telvin Smith? No, but he can be an average starter at the Will and he will make plays. Taking on blocks and working on angles can be improved, as can his awareness in coverage. He can also stand to get stronger. He is much better than I thought he would be after watching him in the preseason.
  9. I like Dawkins a lot. I really like his athleticism and I think he got a lot better as the year went on. I think it makes sense to try to use Cordy as a piece of a trade up with Indy or NYG, but I'm fine with keeping him and letting Dawkins play the right side.
  10. The reason the offense didn't work was Tyrod Taylor's inability to play from the pocket, and his aversion to taking any sort of chances. There are times in a game in which you need to take a shot. Sometimes those long interceptions turn into long punts. Dennison's play calling didn't help. DiMarco should have been used more in the running game. He had been graded as the best fullback in the league for a few years and suddenly did nothing. I don't think he was used properly. I think Daboll will use him as he started his career with him and Kansas City and NE does make use of a fullback. I think they may have wanted more versatility and that is why they were in on Kyle Juszczyk. I think they wanted a guy who could be Patrick DiMarco and Nick O'Leary in one. I think we saw a lot of DiMarco's reps go to O'Leary honestly. I think they just liked 11 an 12 personnel more than 21 personnel. Tolbert I thought was signed to be a locker room cheerleader, then J. Williams was cut. I don't understand his presence on the field and literally screamed at the TV any time he was in the game. He did fumble in the snow game though, so there's that. Matthews was a weird fit and I honestly hated that trade. I didn't like the pick of Zay Jones either. I actually really wanted Cooper Kupp. Hindsight says we should have pick Smith-Schuster. I love teh KB trade. He is teh type of player we have not had in a long time. He is a game changer if we have a quarterback who can get him the ball. Daboll will make a big difference picking offensive personnel in my opinion.
  11. I think this makes a lot of sense. Honestly, if they fix their offensive line and ODB is healthy they could be Super Bowl contenders. Also with the hiring of James Bettcher, they will likely be going to a 3-4 defensive alignment which will require more draft picks to fill out. I'm not even sure how JPP will fit, but there will be some significant holes to fill with the switch. I think a trade down makes a ton of sense for them. Would they be willing to drop all the way to 21+22 and take Cordy Glenn? it sure seems enticing if I am them. Or perhaps they take the approach that they don't expect to be up there again so they need to take a QB while they can.
  12. He has some nice traits, but I don't think he has potential to be the answer. As others have said, I'm not sure if it makes sense to take a late round developmental guy if Peterman is on the roster, unless you are moving on from Peterman. If you can't trade up, I think you just wait until next year. I think we either see: vet high end rookie (trade up) Peterman or vet younger vet who has little experience and some potential Peterman (try to find the answer next year)
  13. Yes!!! Oh cool, thanks. Not a Mehta fan so never clicked the link. Dennison has worked as an oline coach and o coordinator so this kind of placement makes sense. I could see that team having success with a zone scheme.
  14. Makes sense. Could also be something like run game coordinator or O line coach.
  15. This is a good question. They also draft in front of us. But I will say they have a lot of talent on their defense. Chandler Jones, Haason Reddick, Deone Bucannon and a really good secondary. Maybe he can get something out of Robert Nkemdiche. I'm assuming the would transition into a 4-3. I think where we need to worry is at the linebacker spot as they will be looking for the same type of talent as us. I suppose they could play Reddick at the Mike and Bucannon at the Will, but they would be very undersized there.
  16. Actually not a bad fit for their offensive line. They are smaller and quicker than our guys. The question is who their QB will be.
  17. I doesn't seem like visits mean a whole lot with this regime. With Whaley and Nix it was pretty easy to narrow it down to like 3 guys we were going to pick. Like when the entire world knew we were going to draft Kelvin Sheppard that one year. Preston Brown and John Miller were pretty obvious as well. I felt like last year I had no idea who we were going to pick. I know we met with Peterman but we met with the other quarterbacks as well and the Jones connection was kind of obvious. But I don't remember having White or Dawkinsn on the radar. I guess I'm trying to train myself to pay less attention to the pre draft visits and meetings.
  18. I could see someone like the Giants falling in love dropping others down. How crazy would it be if Allen and Mayfield go 1-2? Rosen and Darnold sitting there at 3-4?
  19. I really do like the guy and think he has a chance to be good. I think he's in that top four. However, I do not think there is any chance this regime drafts him.
  20. I hear you. I just think that second group of quarterbacks in this draft, after the top 4 just aren't very good so it's just really hard to place. Do I think he would get drafted in front of a Mason Rudolph? Probably. Is he better than Connor Cook who went in the fourth a couple years ago? Probably not. I think it's hard to say but I don't think he would go undrafted. Probably in the 5-7 range. I could see him going in the fourth if a GM thought he was the least crappy of the second tier of quarterbacks, and thought they were getting a future Kirk Cousins as we apparently thought. Last year there was some hype about Peterman sneaking into that 2-4 range, but fifth was probably the right spot. I don't think he's a future starter but I don't think I can put a wrap on his career after a historically terrible half and bad pick at the end of a game for which he probably had zero reps. I'm not done with him yet and still think he is better than he has shown. I don't think we win the snow game without him making those throws to KB. Is he Kirk Couisns or just generic, smart, weakish arm quarterback? Not sure yet. Likely somewhere in between.
  21. I've been pondering on this myself. I was thinking he'd be slotted somewhere around Luke Falk. But I see him probably dropping to the 4th or 5th round. He could drop farther with all of the quarterbacks available in free agency. I honestly think Allen, Darnold, Rosen, Mayfield got first round. Then someone will take a shot on Jackson and his athletic ability. After that I think it is going to be a very long wait for those other guys. Probably 4th or 5th, kinda like when Connor Cook kept falling.
  22. I do buy that they do believe in Peterman and I could see this as a possible outcome if: They can't trade up. They can't get someone better than him in free agency or trade. They don't like the second tier QBs, Rudolph, Falk etc more than Peterman. I could see them bringing in a young vet who never had a shot before like Tyler Bray to compete with him, realistically expecting Peterman to win the job. They do like Peterman, otherwise they would not have made the move to him in San Diego. I do think this is a possible outcome if they don't like the QBs in this draft relative to where they pick. They aren't going to force it, and after that top tier are any of those guys really better than the guy they already have? I'm not so sure. I don't think the outcome is very likely, but I do think it is possible.
  23. Moore is not good but he does make sense if we draft a young guy who we intend to start right away. He could be the veteran voice in the room and a guy who has played for Daboll. He is definitely not starter material. There will be some veteran in room if we draft a young guy. I think the options are: Sign crappy veteran like Matt Moore, Derek Anderson. Drew Stanton, Chad Henne. Trade up to draft young guy we intend to start right away. Sign or trade for veteran to be long term starter: Bradford, Cousins, Bridgewater, Keenum, Foles. Develop Peterman and late round guy. Sign or trade for really good bridge Alex Smith and draft quarterback we intend to develop for 1-2 years. (this scenario makes most sense to me and could still involve a trade up) Sign or trade for marginal young guys who still might have potential to compete with Peterman. Tyler Bray, Blaine Gabbert, Matt Barkley, Geno Smith (would not like this scenario but could see it if they really love Peterman) .It would be the Kevin kolb-EJ scenario
