LB Kevin Minter visiting Bills

I think it's only natural to compare potential new guys to the guy they are replacing no? This seems normal to me. -

I think we are fine yes. They are all going to be quite cheap imo -
I think that is just the way things are with free agency now. I don't think any of those guys who signed early took visits. I do like that Beane said they watched every single one of his throws. They did their homework on the type of player he is, and set a value. I love this approach. Also, they mostly likely met him in combine interviews years ago. It isn't perfect, but I think that's the way of free agency now.

Toomer is a good player as well. A little older than these guy, but a good fit as well. Believe he is visiting teh Colts -
Goodwin would have gotten eaten up by Ramsey and Bouye and Watkins probably would have twisted his ankle. We lost that game because Preston Brown sucks, we got no interior pressure, and Tyrod missed a ton of open guys. Luckily, our front office has decided to make changes in all three of those areas.

Ah good point. Could be a job share situation. Minter is a two down backer, that's for sure. And peanut butter is so much better than Preston Brown. You should not associate them with each other. -

Can we shelve the Comp pick discussion to March 19?
MrEpsYtown replied to plenzmd1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Update: It's 5 in and 3 out. Still need Gaines, Thompson, Mathews, Leon Johnson to sign elsewhere to have a pick. Assuming we sign Compton or another linebacker, that would make it 6 in and 7 out. Still need O-Line upgrades and a reciever. AFC East Buffalo Bills Qualifying UFAs Lost: 3 Qualifying UFAs Gained: 5 Name Rd. APY Rank Name Rd. Mason Rudolph...Big, accurate, mobile.strong

Colt Brennan man! That's the guy right there. Actually more talented than Rudolph honestly. Chris Trapasso articles hold no weight in this argument. He clearly shares an agent with Rudolph or maybe he's his godfather or something. His articles are completely subjective (great for a journalist btw) because his love for Rudolph has made him blind to reality. -
Marshall Newhouse visiting Bills

I actually really like the AJ signing...I don't like the reports that their first target was McCown. He impresses me enough that I wouldn't totally have a cow if they don't get a quarterback this year. If it isn't Darnold, Allen, or Rosen, I don't see an upgrade, so I would rather see what a guy like McCarron has. But how a GM handles quarterback really defines their tenure. Doug Whaley did some good things, but EJ Manuel sealed his fate. This is teh biggest decision for McBeane and if they aren't 1 million percent on a guy this year, they shouldn't bother. -
Losing Preston Brown and his 4.86 will go along way to helping team speed. I like our defensive speed. Our offensive speed isn't great, but I'm not sure it is the most important thing in the E-P system. That said I do think we need to have someone like Deonte Thompson on the roster.

I love everything they have done except for offensive line and quarterback. They definitely get the benefit of the doubt from me, but I want to see their true plan for those spots, -
I’m all for Mason Rudolph with the 12th pick...

Bills Have a Standing Offer for LB Preston Brown
MrEpsYtown replied to sven233's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is pretty obvious we didn't want him. And neither did the rest of the league. The standing offer was probably to come back as a part time player. -

And sorry guys, I don't mean to come off as a jerk, but I myself was a crappy O-lineman in college and I coach high school linemen. When I see terrible guys play it makes me so mad and frustrated and makes me question if they were even coached at all. -

That's my point. We are trying to justify this possible move as a bottom of the roster filler move, when he is gonna come here and wind up competing to start. This is the same conversation we all had about Ducasse last year. We figured he'd be released at some point roster bottom feeder...nope. Started many games and was terrible. I think it does. He was sought after on like the first day of free agency. There is potential there. Remember how many people were chasing after Mills when he was a free agent last year? Yeah nobody and he took our lowball offer. The league has decided he blows. -

I mean the Texans are willing to give him 1 year and 4 million. That's double what we pay Mills. -

As long as he doesn't play it's fine. When you fill the bottom of your roster with terrible players who are expected to start, you are in a bad way. Newhouse is fine as long as he is like the 4th tackle. -

He's no good. Neither is Mills. The fact that Seantrel was signed so quickly this year leads me to believe what I believed all along, which is he should have been playing instead of Mills last season. Miller or Groy should have been playing instead of Ducasse. I trust the process and all, but their O-line decisions have been horrendous imo. I'd rather roll with Conor McDermott than sign Newhouse. He will give you at least equal value for a quarter of the price. Maybe Cam Fleming will be cheap...his FA interests has been lukewarm at best thus far. -
First Round QB Busts since 2000
MrEpsYtown replied to Sky Diver's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can think of Mark Sanchez. The Jets went from 17 to 5. RG3 obviously did not work out. The Falcons flipped 1 and 5 for Vick. Not a bust, but clearly did not work out in the long run. Wentz is really good. Goff had 1 good year. -

I happens. It is one of the most difficult positions in sports. It's hard to do physically and mentally. Colleges do not do a good job of preparing these kids, and generally they get drafted by teams that suck. Then they get thrown into the fire too quickly, develop terrible habits, and flame out. When there are only about 10-12 good quarterbacks in the NFL, it tells you how hard it is. But it is also about opportunity, fit, and coaching. How many of these guys started too soon for coaches who got fired? I mean if Trent Edwards got drafted by New England he'd probably still be in the league. Steve Mariucci completely ruined both Giovanni Carmazzi and Joey Harrington. If Gio got drafted by New England in the sixth round, maybe history is quite different. If Mo Lewis doesn't blow up Drew Bledsoe's spleen, we probably never even hear of Brady. If San Diego doesn't move on from Brees, giving him to Sean Patyton, Brees' career is probably quite different. A lot of things have to go right, but first you have to have the talent. Once they are in your building it is on the organization and player to make it work.
