Lynch to me is a warning about not developing a quarterback. Denver traded up for him knowing he was a project and knowing they had to develop him. They didn't do that. They threw him out there too early and have had tons of turnover in their coaching staff. Now they are probably drafting a guy again, where a guy like Lynch had a better draft grade than a bunch of the guys this year. They have failed miserably at developing him. Maybe he he doesn't have it, but boy that staff has done a terrible job with him. Let these guys sit.

I think that list is just hard to quantify. There are a lot of smaller college quarterbacks who haven't made it and there are a handful who have. The problem with listing guys who haven't made it, was it just height or a number of things that caused them to fail? Guys like Joe Hamilton and Pat White who lit up college football and did not make it. Was it because they were too small? I don't really know. Cade McNown, Ty Detmer, Rex Grossman, Tyrod Taylor, Timmy Chang...these are all guys who lit up college football who were 6-1 or less and did not make it. Some had a bit of success in the NFL. Quarterbacks under 6-2 who are good are few and far between and that is the point. It it is easier to list the guys who have made it. Vick, Wilson, Brees, Flutie, Tarkenton, Jurgensen, Len Dawson, Theissmaan. That is 8 guys in the entire history of the game, 4 of whom played in a time where everyone was smaller across the board, so really just 4 guys and Flutie and Vick are questionable. Wilson is a ridiculous athlete with huge hands and Brees has huge hands and ridiculous accuracy. I like Mayfield, and I think he has a chance, but history is not on his side. He is a short, spread quarterback, who lacks speed, with slightly smaller hands. These are all legit concerns if you are drafting him super high. In a lot of his college film he took super deep drops and ran around to buy himself some time. This is not going to work in the NFL. He is going to have be able to have to make throws within a collapsing pocket and step up into that pocket with 6-5 lineman in his face. We saw what running around in a circle got us with Tyrod, but at least he ran 4.5. It's tough. Do I think he can do it? Maybe, but you can't say that these are not legitimate concerns with Mayfield.

Fair enough and this is fair analysis. My pet peeve is when people use once in a lifetime outliers to prove a point, so sorry if I came off as a jerk. I think he is a 3rd-4th round prospect but will go in the second. Especially if teams like the Giants and Broncos pass on quarterbacks in the first.

This is pretty mych Jeff Driskel. Big time recruit with less than stellar college career but huge upside if developed. Kevin Sumlin really jerked him around. Then he got benched in Houston for throwing interceptions. Had a pretty impressive game against Rice and was very good for A&M early. Certainly worth a late flyer.

Ok someone please explain this concept for me. How can we defend a flawed prospect by using 3 of the greatest quarterbacks of all time as examples? It makes no logical sense. Its three guys, out of thousands of guys and we are putting this guy in that company? If you are going to mention those guys as reasons he could be sucessful, you also have to mention the other thousand guys who failed for the same reasons. The odds are very much stacked against this guy. Way more guys have failed because weak arms than succeeded. Using three generational players to defend the probablity of his sucess is illogical. To your other point, both Rosen and Allen have experience under center.

He's a 3-4 inside Linebacker so protected by both the nose and the mike playing inside next to him. Interesting to see what the Cards do with him now that they have moved to a 4-3. I'd venture to guess they are going to move him back to safety. Also he is 6-1 211, James is 6-3 215. These are completely different body types. Sounds fancy on paper, but just not the right fit for what we do.

That Jackson score is a red flag, but it is all a part of the process. With the agent situation he is definitely not helping his stock. Nothing has changed though. No matter what, if you draft this guy you are going to have to alter your offense to fit his skillset. And he needs some time to develop. Those two things are true whether he runs a forty, aces a wonderlic, or his mom is a maniac representing him. He's a great athlete, he needs time to develop, and teams are going to have to be all in on him to make it work. That is all still true.

It seems like Janis has some interesting potential and just didn't get a chance to play in Green Bay. I'd love to have him in.

I feel like Malachi Dupre could be something but who knows. If this is a minimum salary benefit guy it's fine.

Davis is a much more proven player. So no, He is not better. Will likely be cheaper and maybe has some upside. Minimum salary type player.

I don't see the logic of taking the best safety in the draft to become a MIKE linebacker. Just makes no sense. I know Deion Jones, but it is a totally different frame than James. It's not just about weight, height is a factor as well. 6-1 222 is way differnt than 6-3 215. Plus he has us passing on Evans and LVE... I know that teams spend a lot of the time in nickel. If I was playing the Bills and they had a 6-3 215 pound MIKE, I would load up on tight ends and jam the ball down their throat, rendering their nickel defense useless.

Probably helps the Patriots the most. Just because. But it is a fair point that we were a good tackling team last year. It certainly doesn't help that safety from the Saints who blew that tackles against the Vikings. It also may have saved Rodney Harrison from CTE.

Poor man's Shaq Lawson. Similar size and such, a 4-3 base end basically. Fits teh mold of the typical McDermott end. Likely a depth player. If they went ahead and signed like Kony Ealy, I would think someone was on the move. This not so much.

Ok now I'm even happier we didn't hire Anthony Lynn.
