  1. It's not six. It is four. And I would only take three of them. Darnold, Rosen, Allen. Jackson makes some sense with a huge upside. Rudolph is a wasted pick as he is a marginal talent who might be a serviceable back up.
  2. I love it. If you love football, this is three days of lots of Xs and Os analysis, which is what I love. Yes there is a ton of boring promotional crap and listening to Trey Wingo's smug bullcrap. I could honestly listen to Mike Mayock talk about football all day. I loved him on Thursday night football. People thought there was too much analysis but I loved it.
  3. Maybe they want us to take him off their hands as part of a trade up? He's been terrible at LT, so needs to be a RT. He is better than Mills though.
  4. Maybe he got arrested again?
  5. I'll keep saying it, but I really hope all the Rudolph lovers come back here and read all of this irrational stuff. He sucks. Nice numbers and solid college career. He is not an NFL starter and certainly not a franchise quarterback. This idea needs to go away. He has almost 0 physical upside. He's a bigger version of Kellen Moore, without any pro style experience. Moore threw a tremendous deep ball, but could not get the velocity on the ball to zip it and throw outside the numbers. Watching Rudolph throw the out patterns at the combine was comical. Many of those throws in shorts would have been interceptions. People need to stop building this guy up as the squeaky clean great white hope. He is not good. Oh and btw, Moore's hands are actually bigger than Rudolph's. I don't understand what people are seeing, or making themselves see.
  6. I think all he is saying, which is what he has been saying all along, is that he has a certain value on certain players. I don't think it means he's fine with whatever quarterback, I think it means they have a couple of guys targeted during different points of the draft and they are not going to reach and overpay. I think they try to get into the top five for Darnold, maybe target Rosen in that 6-12 range. And they have contingency plans either way. They probably have other places in the draft that they have some guys targeted. The interesting thing is the comment about "what flaws are you willing to deal with" quote. I think this takes a guy like the resident tiny crotch grabber off the board. Probably Allen too for inaccuracy. Maybe Rudolph for tiny hands and a weak arm. Those are all things that are probably deal breakers. To me that leaves Darnold and Rosen. Darnold has a turnover issue that can be corrected. Rosen has opinions. They probably like someone in the next tier as well, whether that is Jackson or White or something remains to be seen. They will not force things.
  7. When there are a number of different guys on a team the most important aspect is to be yourself. No one likes a person who tries to be something they aren't. Are there going to be guys on the team who don't like him? Maybe. But that is true of pretty much every team. Win and none of it matters.
  8. I guess my point is that it is not a bargain at all and I think his production is suspect playing with Brees. JMO
  9. Ok here is where I am at. I like a slow methodical GM who is not going to overpay. He said he would only move up for the guy he thinks is worth the move. Maybe that's Sam Darnold and he's not available at 3. Now you moved up for no reason. I love that they are idenifying their guy and will be aggressive on draft night to get "their" guy. What the Jets did was dumb and short sighted. I would hate to have a GM who likes three quarterbacks and will take whichever one is left. That's ridiculous. Beanie is going to wait till draft night when he knows he can get his guy and is going to do whatever it takes. Sure he is working his ass off working scenarios with a number of teams right now, but those trades are going to be contingent on "their" guy being there. I'd rather not draft a quarterback than settle for a guy you really did not want. That is bad GMing 101 right there and that's why Whaley is out of a job.
  10. The Rudolph narrative on here is so illogical.
  11. The most interesting thing in the article is this, and I think it bodes well for us: • There will be some trades in this draft that might seem one-sided. Several team officials told me in the past few days that they value Day 2 picks (rounds two and three) so highly that they’d be willing to take slightly less in compensation to move down. Where could this come into play? Cleveland (four), Indianapolis (six), Baltimore (16), Seattle (18), New England (23, 31), New Orleans (27), Philadelphia (32). “This is not your typical draft,” said one veteran club official Sunday. “The second, third and even fourth rounds are gold. You can take less than the trade-value chart says and still make a very good trade if you get multiple picks in those rounds.”
  12. I can't really speak on it to much. You see him making very simple reads and really relying on his athleticism quite a bit. My opinion is he has done a terrible job with the predraft process because he didn't hire an agent. And agent gets guys prepared for everything, including practicing these tests. It's like taking an SAT prep course, that score maybe could have been a 15-18 if he hired an agent who helped him prepare.
  13. I think Rudolph is going much later than people are expecting. The fifth year option is important, but not for a guy like this, imo.
  14. If you look at the list of pre-draft visitors for the Broncos, they had Barkley and a bunch of quarterbacks. The rest of their visits where more of the mid first round variety. No Nelson and no Chubb. I just thought that was kind of interesting. The Dolphins met with Mayfield six times apparently. Should be a crazy draft.
  15. This is what it says on that Walterfootball link: "A note on Lamar Jackson's Wonderlic score of 13: Nine quarterbacks were drafted in the past 15 years with a Wonderlic of 15 or less, according to Bob McGinn. Those names were, alphabetically: Josh Booty Nate Davis Josh Johnson Zac Robinson Troy Smith Tyrod Taylor Seneca Wallace Andre Woodson Vince Young Of those nine, only Young and Taylor were starters for an extended period of time, and neither was particularly good. Young had a decent stretch for a couple of seasons, but flamed out because he never developed as a passer, failing to ever throw for more than 12 touchdowns in a single year. Taylor is currently a starter, but not for long. Jackson's Wonderlic of 13 doesn't mean he'll necessarily fail - with some great coaching, I think he could become a good starter - but history is going against him."
  16. Man that would make me crazy. I actually missed the 2003 draft in which my high school teammate Jimmy Kennedy, the only guy I ever played with to make it in the NFL got drafted. That's like the worst draft to miss. I was at college football spring camp at the time. I also missed the 04 Losman draft because I had to work. Those two always bothered me.
  17. We are all picking on the OP, but he makes a good point in a way. We we have to figure that Barkley, Chubb, and Nelson are likely to go in the top 6, with probably 3 quarterbacks. Those guys are the blue chippers, then there is a pocket of players, Smith, Edmunds, Fitzpatrick, James etc who are all pretty closely graded, then all of the corners and offensive tackles. I do think we will be able to get a quarterback with a trade up in that 5-7, but if we really want to get our top guy, we probably need to jump the Jets or Broncos. I do think one of the top 4 will be there at 7. I still don't think we will wait.
  18. If anyone cares, some more Wonderlic scores were released. JT Barrett - 19 Benkert - 37 Falk - 29 Ferguson - 21 Lauletta - 29 Lee - 26 Litton - 24 Rudolph - 28 White - 27 http://walterfootball.com/combine2018QB.php
  19. Probably taking Darnold in this scenario. Browns with Allen at 1, with the Jets taking Mayfield, the Browns could get Barkley at 4. I doubt hey trade out if Barkley and Chubb are there. Then we need to hope the Broncos pass on Rosen. I'm guessing they take Chubb or Nelson if they are there. 1-Allen 2-Darnold 3-Mayfield 4-Barkley 5-Nelson or Chubb 6-Chubb if he is there 7- This is probably the trade up spot. 5-7. I don't think the Browns trade out if Barkley is there. I don't think the Broncos trade out if Chubb and Nelson are there. I don't think the Colts trade out if Chubb is there, I think they do it if he is gone. I think they want Roquan Smith or Chubb. At at the end of the day I think we get ahold of Rosen or Darnold somehow.
  20. Ragland is a two down backer. He's a good one, but he was not on the field for any nickel or dime. He has a very limited skill set. He is still better than Preston Brown.
  21. So now that there are these rumors, we are all going to start hating Sam Darnold now? Ginger USC quarterbacks never succeed! But he does believe in Jesus...how much money did his parents make last year? Some fans have a distinct fear of success...I guess they don't want to be let down?
  22. I hope it backfires on the Pats! But they are probably trying to cash in on the last of Brady.
  23. My only issue with Darnold is the lack of experience at quarterback. He started 1 year in high school and two at USC. He is really young (hasn't turned 21) but a lot of draft people see a guy who could be Andrew Luck. Again, I'd be ecstatic with Darnold or Rosen.
  24. I've been a Rosen guy through and through, but have always been cool with Darnold as well. He is growing on me as a prospect and if that is their guy, and they are going to make it happen, I love it.
