  1. I get what you are saying, but in the NFL everyone is amazing. Except Preston Brown. I just don't see his style working in the NFL. Heś too slow. He is quick, but after he makes that quick move guys are going to demolish him. I didn't see any Alabama in there. I assume you meant Ohio State...he threw for a lot of yards against them, (guys were wide open a lot) but his running and such was pretty much shut down. He was bottled up vs Georgia and that is the kind of speed he will see in the NFL. JMO but I dont love a smaller guy who is slow.
  2. This is a good point. They may still have a really positive relationship as Bettcher left before Hughes was traded. But the fact is that he Hughes wasn't great for Indy. His best year for them was 2012, which was the only season James Bettcher was his coach. So it could be something, or it could be nothing.
  3. He's a good fit for Todd Bowles, not so much for Greg Williams. Cardinals still make the most sense with Steve Wilks there running a defense similar to McDermott
  4. See now this video, while impressive, confirms what I think, and that is that this stuff ain't going to work in the NFL. This dude is going to get killed by NFL linebackers and the like. I mean yes he makes guys from Tulsa and other schools look bad. He's juking guys and making them miss. But linebackers that run 4.4 and defensive lineman who run 4.6 are going to chew him up imo. They will not miss. Yes! There are a couple of inches in there behind some fat. I lost 120 pounds a couple years ago.
  5. 1. It is usually that they have to start too early for terrible team. They don't develop anymore. 2. The college game makes no effort whatsoever to get them prepared for the NFL. Like Darnold has been working on his release with Jordan Palmer the last few months. Why wasn't this fixed in college? Because colleges don't care about their players and their future success. They just want to win, make money off these kids so that they can recruit more kids and spit them out. 3. Because they go to bad teams, the teams are constantly hiring and firing coaches so there is no continuity. Blaine Gabbert entered the league in 2011. He has had 7 different offensive coordinators in that time, and whoever he signs with this year will probably be his 8th. 4. They don't have the talent. Either they have slow eyes, slow processing, slow feet, a weak arm, small hands whatever, sometime sit is simply something physical. Sometimes they get over-drafted like EJ Manuel and Christian Ponder and they simply can't do what is expected from them. 5. They were always the best and football came easy so they get lazy. They never had to work before and don't know how to bounce back from failure and tough times. Ryan Leaf, Johnny Football. Another guy rumored to be succumbing to this is Paxton Lynch who apparently spends his free time playing XBox.
  6. Decent is right. I'd like Allen Hurns. Meredith is a good player. Snead is really nothing special. Small, not really fast. I think a product of playing with Brees. Meredith put up numbers playing with no one at quarterback. I don't think that Daboll is really going to feature WRs too much, but that's my opinion. I think we will see a lot of two tight end sets.
  7. If we could get one of Rosen, Allen, or Mayfield with out trading up, it is a huge win. One of those guys is going to drop. Once somebody makes in past the Broncos, we probably look to trade up. This may be Beane's strategy to wait it out. Guys always drop.
  8. I hate going back to guys who turned us down in the past. This is why I don't want Dansby and why Maclin can f off and sit at home. Just my 2 cents.
  9. A suitor for Hurns drops. If the Jets sign Pryor we have a fair chance at Hurns.
  10. He's my favorite in terms of fit of the guys we brought in and apparently took a physical. Wondering what the holdup is on that front.
  11. This has some ramifications and I think everyone covered most of the ideas in this thread. 1. This could mean they want Chubb, which would push a quarterback down the board to 4 at the very least, making a trade up into that 7 area possible for Allen, Mayfield, or Rosen...whomever the Jets and Broncos pass on. 2. This could mean that they are acquiring Jerry Hughes in a trade down scenario. James Bettcher is a 3-4 coach, but his is a very hybrid front. It has some similarities to what we saw when Mike Pettine was here, and Jerry excelled in that defense. Jerry was always a pretty poor fit for McDermott's defense who typically uses bigger defensive ends. We could also offer them pieces they could use like Adolphus Washington, Ryan Groy stuff like that. They could get a player like Edmunds or Davenport at 12, or even Sam Hubbard at 22. 3. This could mean that the Giants are going into more of a re-build and they are going to take a quarterback, so we would have to trade to 4 for the fourth best guy. 4. This could mean the Giants knew JPP was a really poor fit and had the opportunity to get out of a really bad contract, so they went for it. This would put pass rusher up at the top of their needs though. There isn't much in free agency (maybe Dee Ford?) so they may need to work a trade. Even Olivier Vernon's fit is a bit of a question mark. So yeah it is probably just #4. This could make a trade down more likely, or less likely. We really have no way of knowing.
  12. My guess is they gave the same standing offer to Compton, Minter, and Dansby and are waiting to see who takes the offer. I hope they are looking into Shea McClellin, if he's healthy, would be a great add. Maybe they stay at 12 and 22 and take Smith/Edmunds and LVE?
  13. I would trade down but force the Bills to give me both 1s this year and the 2019 1. Plus some other picks.
  14. The first time I heard this it came fromBrandon Beane. So I guess he need a punch in the face?
  15. Hopefully Pryor signs with the Jets taking them out of the running for Hurns. He is a great fit imo
  16. Fair enough. Great points and analysis and what you are saying makes a ton of sense. I'm very curious to see how it turns out and this thing cannot get here fast enough.
  17. Definitely think he is first rounder and I get what you are saying. I just have an unfair prejudice against the small quarterbacks. I think a lot of NFL people do too and that's why a guy like Brees drops. I'm a bit of a tradiotanilst in that sense. If if you are going to be a short quarterback you better be a super athlete or deadly accurate, otherwise I don't think you make it. That's imo.
  18. It's a tough spot. I don't like short quarterbacks. Everyone uses Brees and Wilson as examples. Brees had an unbelievable career at Purdue. Just ridiculously accurate, really smart, sneaky clean. He's a once in a lifetime player. Yet he went in the second round and didn't really hit his grove until he got with Sean Payton. Wilson is an unbelievable athletic. Awesome speed and all that stuff. Huge hands, really smart and squeaky clean. He went in the 3rd. Here we have Mayfield. He's a gamer, shows some promise with accuracy in the pocket etc. He ain't Brees though. He can make plays with his legs, but not near the athlete of Wilson. With his 4.81 forty even Preston Brown might run him down. Plus there are off the field issues and he is very abrasive and likes to make excuses. I do think he has a chance to make it. The guy can obviously play and he has some projectable skills. But Mayfield is a huge question mark for me. I could see him going third to the Jets, fifth to the Broncos, or fall to the second round. Im really curious to see where he goes.
  19. Now this is a smokescreen. The Giants must want Barkley imo and may be trying to force the Browns to choose Darnold. I think they are taking Darnold regardless. Giants take Barkley, Jets QB, maybe we trade to 4?
  20. I like that we are scouting Ninja style. No reports of us doing anything is the way I like it to be.
  21. Peterman is another example of why guys need to sit. Could he become a competent backup, average starter? Maybe. But he should not been playing in that Chargers game. The staff was stuck in a weird spot because their "quarterback" just threw for 52 yards in an actual NFL game. Regardless, whoever we draft, they need to sit for at least 6-8 games. Preferably the whole season like Carson Palmer.
  22. Hmmm not a Brooks fan...but no Mason Rudolph again. Hmmmmm. He's not is DJ's top fifty players either. Weird that guys who worked as scouts in the NFL and have tons of connections are completely whiffing on Rudolph. Really strange.
