  1. https://www.si.com/extra-mustard/2016/04/11/uclas-josh-rosen-wears-hat-special-message-donald-trump I know people don't want to talk politics, and I know it's long, but this is what Rosen said in an interview: "Well, I think it’s no secret that I’m not a large fan of Donald Trump — from a policy standpoint and from a human-being standpoint. I think it’s cowardly to run a campaign based on demagoguery and bigotry, and to incite fear so you can rally support for personal gain. He’s feeding off of racial tension and a lack of religious understanding, and a lack of sympathy and empathy for people who are different from him. I think it’s sad that he’s not even trying to understand important issues and propose legitimate policies to make the country a better place. It seems like he just wants to be president … so he can be president. There’s so much I don’t like. I don’t like his policy positions, and I really don’t like him making racially charged statements to people who don’t know better or understand what it’s like to come from poverty or different backgrounds. One of the reasons why I love the sport of football so much is because it’s exposed me to so many varying circumstances and all different types of people. And the same goes for college. That’s part of why after getting to college I’ve formed such strong political stances, and it’s cool going to a school like UCLA where we’re encouraged to dig into important issues and freely speak our minds. I mean, we both come from money. We’re both well-educated people — or are becoming well-educated — our parents are educated, and we are privileged. We can come to college and not really have to worry about finances. We can focus on school and football. Meanwhile, we have guys on the team who are sending every dime of money they have home to their families. College has really opened my eyes to those disparities. I just feel really strongly about this topic, because I believe there’s a level of ignorance in this country when it comes to empathizing with others, and that needs to change. And I’m literally willing to sit down and debate anyone in the country — anyone! — about Trump and the current state of our society. I welcome the opportunity to discuss this stuff further. I care about it. You probably shouldn’t have gotten me started, man. But, yeah, I think it’s safe to say that me and Donald Trump will not be getting matching Thunder Buddies T-shirts anytime soon."
  2. I'm just sayin. Woody Johnson is on his staff. They are neighbors in a rich little private community in Jersey. The Johnsons seem to meddle way too much and our President sometimes makes a big deal out of things that aren't a big deal. Seems like it won't work, but that's just me.
  3. Gotta be Peerless or Byrd I would think. I guess Peerless over Byrd because they gave up a draft pick I believe. Nate Clements contract was pretty bad at the time as well.
  4. So the meddling Jets owners are just going to go ahead and let their people draft the guy who wore the "F Trump" hat? Seems unlikely. I hope we get a shot at Rosen.
  5. I knew a guy name Richard Weiner. ? And as as a teacher you see some weird names. I had a student whose first name was Alpacino. Mom was a big scar face fan.
  6. I do think Hughes is gone eventually because I really don't love his fit in the defense and he is overpaid for what he has produced. But he is a good player and may have a better year with Murphy as a bookend.
  7. Even watching him at the combine throwing on air, many of his throws would have been picks in the NFL. This guy is a bigger Nate Peterman with tiny hands.
  8. Good points. The way I see it is that this is a good team. They have a quarterback and a game breaking player like OBJ. They were awful last year because they had no depth and OBJ got hurt. Their line was terrible and their coach was an idiot. They lost a number of very close games, plus they started Geno Smith!!! in an actual NFL game. They could have easily been 8-8 or 9-7. They aren't that far off and aren't your typical top five picking team. If Gettelman wants to take the opportunity to really build a skilled and deep team who can compete this year, he trades down. If he feels like he needs to take the opportunity to get the next franchise quarterback he stays at two, but he is punting the rest of Eli's career. I could see arguments for both sides for sure.
  9. Great points all the way around. It makes sense for him to stay put and take 1 of the blue chippers in Chubb or Barkley. I suppose the way I see it, he could get Davenport at 12, LVE at 22 to play inside with Ogeltree, and one those other backs Michel, Chubb or whomever in the second round, plus he would have one of our second rounders as well.
  10. Agreed. You don't use the #2 pick on a quarterback when you already have one and you and he expect him to play for 2-3 more years. I know people will say Aaron Rodgers blah blah, but the dude fell in their lap late in the first round. This situation is totally different and kind of unprecedented. I can't remember a time in which a team had a true franchise quarterback and drafted his replacement in the top five of a draft. You would be effectively folding on the Manning era, and that makes no sense to me. If the Giants don't use the pick to trade down or to get help for Manning in the form of Barkley, Nelson, or even Chubb, they are making a poor decision imo. With their 3-4 switch and holes on their roster, they should trade down.
  11. Boy I hope they don't feel forced to do anything. But you are probably right that they are going to get a quarterback here no matter what.
  12. I agree, but my only issue is that they won't be able to afford both of those guys when their rookie deals are up. That said, if they win a Super Bowl over the next four years, none of it matters.
  13. Anyone have a guess on what type of 40 Jackson is expected to run? I mean if he runs like a 4.3 and throws the ball well, then what?
  14. I think Jackson is #3 on their board and if they can't get one of their top 2, they will take him. My best guess is they love Darnold. They like either Rosen or Allen, not both. #3 is Jackson. My completely made up Bills Board: 1. Darnold 2. Rosen or Allen...have no idea which one but guessing they love one and not the other 3. Jackson Being at 12 puts them in striking distance which allows them to trade up if their guy (Rosen or Allen either gets to 4, or is passed on by the Broncos). If quarterbacks go 1,2,3 and their guy is gone, then they can draft Jackson. I don't love him at 12 or 22 really, but 22 wouldn't bother me too much.
  15. Because Giants already have one. They could plug holes on their team and be in the Super Bowl next year. Drafting a quarterback is punting on Eli Mannings career. They could get the Bills pick next year, that is looking like it might be pretty high. But my biggest point is don't just take a guy to take a guy. Get the franchise changing player, otherwise it is a wasted draft pick. Gotta move the needle and neither of these guys do. They aren't better than what we already have.
  16. This. Neither of these guys move the needle and neither become your "franchise" quarterback. Could they be eventually? Sure. I don't think that is what Brandon Beane or ownership, or anyone else is looking for. Go get Darnold, Rosen, or if you can't then Allen.
  17. Leodis as a returner was pretty entertaining. He was either going get a nice return or fumble the ball. T-K-O was the man. He was my favorite player for a while.
  18. I'm guessing Allen since Woody Johnson is Donald Trump's neighbor. Plus, Allen is the player who is most similar to the last quarterback prospect they completely whiffed on. Allen is miles better though.
  19. Our mock draft should go our way!!! It's still great fun and good practice. Plus a lot of other mock drafts have us trading to #2.
  20. Just guessing and speculating, but I assume that Beane is hanging tight to that 2019 first. He might see this year as more of the rebuild "tank" type year and that 2019 pick could be a very high one. He clearly was not expecting us to play well this year and our playoff run affected our picks. I'm very happy with making the playoffs, but Beane has a little bit of an uphill battle to get to teh top. At the end of teh day, that 2019 pick is kind of expendable when we have like 90 million in cap. Gotta find a way to make it happen.
  21. I see Rosen as a "get the ball out quick" guy. He is likely going to take sacks, especially behind our line. My hope is that he is smart enough to read coverages and to know where to go with the football pre snap. Out of all the top guys, he will be the least creative in terms of improvising. I don't think improvising is going to be a requirement in the E-P system. I've had enough improv quarterbacking for a lifetime. I'd prefer the guy who hangs in the pocket and throws that wide open dig that we've been missing the last few years.
  22. He used to be more of an outlier, think outside the box guy. But now he gets wind of what scouts are thinking and magically changes his board up. He didn't do that before.
